  • Beautiful!! no other word ford this tune

  • Full of memories, carefree times, happy and sometimes melancholy but always thought provoking...... I love this song for many reasons

  • oh, sweetie, i don't know what to say, i lost my firstborn grandson, who was my boy at the age of 17, and here's what i think, they fly home before they have to suffer the pain, and i think we love them so, we let them do so and no greater love is borne than that.

  • Such a good song... I listen to this song when i am sad, like right now.

  • "when sundown pales the sky.." pure poetry

  • A GREAT TUNE MR. D :))))

  • The greatest song Bobby never wrote.

  • Me Encanta!!!! XD

  • Classy song, brings it all back

  • They are both great

  • Bob Dylan cant shine Donovan's shoes....my opinion

  • imo donovan kicks dylans ass

  • @adelma9 Donovan sounds exactly like Dylan in this song so I guess they both 'can't sing' - lol.

  • this was before my time. But it is 1 of my favourite songs ever since I heard it a few years back

  • ...HEY, "OYSTERJOE", ALL OF HIS OTHER STUFF IS NOT "CRAP" - YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND IT.......

  • I have his double album "Gift from a flower to a garden"....very few have heard of it. It is full of his poetry and melodies....

The first concert I ever went to was a Donovan concert.

Its pretty neat to listen again....

  • All the pain on this page.

God sure loves us, don't he/she?

Perhaps It's upset because we don't have enough wars going at the moment.

I'm sure Obama will soon toss Her another bone or two.

How could Donovan write theis peerless song when all the rest of his stuff is crap?

  • @adelma9 Please don't rag on Bob or I'll talk about Mick Jagger's singing voice.

  • Your pain hurts me too. He is at peace, he is the wind

  • @adelma9 Look, I love this song, too. But it's a bit ridiculous to insult Dylan in your comment, even as a joke. There would be no Donovan as we know him without Dylan, and this song is the best example. It's a great song, but it's certainly a Dylan-inspired one. And Dylan most definitely could sing...he had and has one of the most expressive voices ever. It may not be classically pretty, but so what?

  • yes lovely song to website username we loved them when they were here but we cant get that back now they were no disrespect for anybody we loved them it brings back memories of them.

  • The Most Beautiful combanation of words EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! This song is great

  • best song ever <3.

Im trying to learn to play it on guitar now. It would be muchos cool to be able to play this!!

  • @Faraao, I could show you. I've been perfoming this since I first heard it. Not so difficult, really, And I think you have the determination.

Contact me at: lkvh1@yahoo.com and I'll send you the chord diagrams, ok?

  • From close to the end of the Second World War to a few years back, was the greated music the human race ever saw. But that genius is gone now. Fond memories though.

  • you want someone but cant have them...so true....love this song...

  • @Hamlet0627 either way, that wasnt the point, wasnt talking to dying people posting how they love it, was posting about people posting RIP JOHN SMITH YOULL NEVER BE FORGOTENN D':> like chill, no one cares, and no ones going to reach out to you in a comment board, and offensive? nah lol :]

  • @Hamlet0627 why remove your comment? lol

  • I heard this song for the first time maybe a year ago on a commerical. Little boy was running with a glass jar. I don't even remember what the product they were selling was, but found the song so moving

  • jeje i wish it was a woman singing the song so i could dedicate it......<3

  • This was played at my beloved dads funeral on 22/07/10 5 months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was 62. R.I.P Ray Locke. I miss you. xxxxxx

  • I love this song. :)

  • brings back past I love it

  • great tune!

  • not even out of disrespect, but why do people start praising there loved ones who have died? on comments and what not, like what are they trying to display

  • @websiteusername and you? what are you trying to display?

  • @merdapuzzolentissima I'm trying to display the question to people who praise their dead relatives on comments. It's retarded, there's no point to it. No ones going to reach out to them and show concern, no ones going to care. Sucks, but it's true. Wait, sorry, truth isn't respected on comment boards. Next up, "FLAME TROLL FLAMEE GRAHHH" amirite?

  • @websiteusername no. now please take your rudeness somewhere else.

  • @merdapuzzolentissima LMFAO what rudeness? i see none, you really shouldnt be harmed by shit you read in comments

  • @websiteusername i wasn't harmed by anything. But your comment was really uncalled for and you could've spared it.

  • @merdapuzzolentissima okay :P well, whatever. :]

  • stupendous song

  • if this version had the harmonica as well it would be the greatest song ever

  • I so love this song...it came out when I was 16...way back when. Now when I listen to it I think of my beautiful grandson who died at 16 last May after a two year battle with cancer....miss you and love you so..it should be me who died, not you!

  • @edb081904

You made me cry. God bless You

  • @rockymike100

  • @edb081904 This was touching,man...

But,accept, come on,he is out there and will feel your pain, love, love, love, only love,man...

  • @edb081904

So sorry about your Grandson. This reminds me of driving across Salisbury plain as the sun came up many years ago.

My companion on that journey has now gone as well.

    All the best. OneGonk.
