This is just crazy, just spent the past two evenings listening to distortion and synth pedals. Have yet to be impressed. I guess I'm getting old, I'm 47 but I think guitar players, myself included will buy anything with a bunch of knobs on it. Most wind up on ebay in a few months but I guess thats the fun of it. But people really think these things sound good? Most are whoosy, gritty and irritating, bu again sound is subjective...whatever dudes, rock on!!
Definitely gonna want a TS-type pedal for the general SRV thing. Also 1) Better pickups. Tell either John Benson@bensonhandwounds, Chris Klein@kleinpickups, Curtis Novak@curtisnovakpickups, or guitarfetish(GFS) Boston Blues. Or Duncan Antiquities. Google them! Contact any of those winders and tell them what you want, they'll make it happen. Number 2) swap the speaker.
pigtronix are farking awsomeee.. too bad im too poor now to get this. got an awsome jimmy vaughn strat with a shit amp and shit pedals, but i still sound awsome rock on \m/ (o.0) \m/
hey I got a Fender Blues Junior (Black Tolex) and an American Strat...can I get a SRV tone with this pedal and my current setup?what are the tonal differencies between this and a classic tubescreamer?
@frenzexperiment Want SRV tone? Here's my experience... I have a pile of amps in my basement. The closest thing I get to an authentic SRV tone is a Strat with texas specials into a Vox AC30CC2 or for higher volume a Marshall JCM900 4102 combo with 2X12 closed back mixed with the combo. Also, here's a thought.. try a Fulltone Fulldrive for your gain and put the pedal into comp cut. Sounds easy but lots of people immediately go to the classic setting. REALLY helps a strat avoid honkyness.
@lordsrawker Maybe, but it is all up to your eyes. I think it might be a bit too muddy for metal. Go for a good old boss ds-1, or a metal zone, or a vox satchurator which is versatile as well
well, it depends on what your goal with the pedal is. The Tube screamer is more for adding on top of an already distorted tone, giving you a little more "drive" and more sustain. or you can use it by itself and get that Stevie Ray sound, with nice break-up. This one seems to be an all encompassing pedal, that can really give you all out fuzz. I have a tube screamer, so I am familiar with it, this one I have never heard in person, so I can't honestly tell you...hope this helps!
OMFG!! this pedal sounds amazing! I have never heard something similar! shame Im in Argentina and they dont come here :( please someone tell me about similar pedals I can look for!!
My choice if you want something different from TS9 and you don't shred. I'm kind of quitted playing metal so for more alternative tone I chose Tube Zone.

Anyone think that with a lot of low end, this thing could do metal breakdowns?

@aektzis91 yes the tube screamer sucks my balls. THIS IS AWESOME

Quite different pedals. Tube screamer is low gain.

thats like comparing chalk with pencil.
Both good ways of expressing, but both pretty different.
The tube screamer is a pencil - everyone has one and they dont usually cause a lot of mess
this is more like chalk - very useful to have but makes a lot of mess.
and i have no idea how i hoped that metaphor would make sense.

its better than box of metal???
danielhl22 3 years ago
they don't have a review of it,.. I would guess the box of metal has less time in between clips... this is ok for blues

I think my favorite setting would be gain and mid all the way up, and low and high at about 75%.
Too bad I don't have $170 to spend.
