  • did u know that in order for the corvette to abide by the le mans racing rules they had to knock off 168 hp from the zr1 because it would be too fast for all the other cars in the class. its true loook it up they had to put in a smaller engine to dumb down the horse power from 638 to 470

  • the corvette is a capable car for sure , when you drive a corvette they look when you drive a aston they fuck

  • It's much easier to be the follower. Maintaining a lead like this is incredibly difficult.

  • this just prove that american is better than limey's.

  • @k4n3n1 No.

  • @k4n3n1 one GT race proves everything? yeah right, of course...

  • ive always had a soft spot for aston martins probably always will to be fair. just out of interst this was gt2 wasnt it shame they canclled it.

  • @AutoFanBoy I hate these dumb regulations. You sorta hinder the tech of cars if you have to regulate what you can do.

  • I hate 90's corvette cheap plastic pieces of shits on wheels

  • clearly, too many people here that think they know about cars take jeremy clarkson's jokes seriously....retards.

  • Why can't we all just appreciate BOTH cars for what they are? These racing versions are giants in their class, and the street versions both excel too. Granted the Corvette comes out on top in terms of pure speed, but it can't afford you the luxuries the Aston Martin can.

Give me either and I wouldn't complain.

  • @DecadentOpiate I myself would rather have the vette. It just seems more practical and more acceptable to aftermarket changes. Love astons though, my favorite of all time is the vanquish

  • how many GT wins to american cars have to have before assholes let the "they can only go fast in a straight line" mindset go?

  • @osp80 Only people who are scared to let the vette loose say silly things like that. lol

  • @osp80 It would seem the DBR is faster on straights, and C6R faster in corners, so I think it's quite the opposite :)

  • @MrXfirestorm

yes that's true coz of much more downforce and grip

  • i gotta admit the corvette kinda look better than the aston.

  • what happened to the dodge vipers? how come you dont see those any more

  • All the Americans are so proud of their German designed car.

  • @MikeNoran Last time I checked Chevy and Pratt & Miller where American companys.

  • @MikeNoran There is nothing German about the Corvette. HAHA! Corvettes beat the shit out of German cars, now all of a sudden you guys want to take credit for something you had no part in building. lol Sad.

    America is just better.

  • wrong again

  • Comment removed

  • corvettes look like theyve been hit in the face with an axe compared to the aston,

    quicker yes,

    more beautiful? never.

  • @511KTM I didn't know racing was about looking good. I'm a pretty big fan of the Astons but come on...

  • @JKFrazier where did i say it was about looking good?

  • @511KTM Yeah what he said, and besides, the late 60's stingrays are where it's at in terms of "corvette" and "looks"

  • @511KTM hahahaha in this video the vette looks more like a streamlined racer, where as the aston looks like a fish with its mouth wide open stunt at the speed of the vette...

  • lol, when you said great scrap i watched the whole thing expecting there to be a crash.... haha.

  • They changed the rules, eliminated our old class (GT1), and made us de-tune the engine, just to make it fair. It took us a couple of years to dial it in and start stomping them, but here we are and they are once again LOOKING AT CORVETTE TAIL LIGHTS. Le Mans 2011!!

  • Aston over Vette ANY day

  • I think that when the Aston pulls out of the slipstream, it was because he knew he couldn't pass, so he was getting some fresh air into the engine to cool it down

  • Only an American would take the Corvette over the Aston

  • @Theaverable I am Australian, I go for Corvette racing as a GM fan.

  • @Theaverable im not american, and i'll take the corvette over aston any day, faster, faster through corners more reliable.aston is only good for the looks, the rest is crap.

  • @Theaverable no, ur just mad because u cant handle american muscle and have to get a car with less torque and power

  • @Theaverable you dumb ass, im german and i'll take the vette anyday, faster in corners straight's, and alot more reliable, the aston is just a gucci hand bag, thats all its good for.

  • @k4n3n1 corvettes are shit belive me my mate had a zo6 problems problems problems

  • corvette powwwwwwwwwwwer

  • chuck norris finished a 24 hour rane in 2.4 seconds

  • 2006, xkr vs c6, lemans

  • @positivesecret When Corvettes beat European cars (Europeans are known for boasting of their "great performance around corners / a track), they then start saying (making pathetic excuses) that it's not just speed? LOL! You pathetic idiots. Americans can make great quality cars in your class as well: Go read up on the Saleen S7, Mosler MT900, SSC Ultimate Aero, and look at the pictures of the new SSC Ultimate Aero II coming out, which will blow the competition away! Mainly carbon fiber and exotic

  • @monkeypoo1 Vette handles badly? Is that why the C6 Z06 Corvette got a 1:22.4 on the Top Gear track with stig in it? And Aston comes no where close to it, yet Aston costs WAY more in price! LOL! Pathetic! Maybe it was your sucky driving "skills" that were at fault there, not the vette. Get a brain. :)

  • @antimainstream The LS7.R engine in the Corvette C6.R won INTERNATIONAL racing engine of the year in 2006, so it is very technologically advanced! Stupid Eurotrash underestimate Americans way too much, and guess what, it's coming to bite you in the ass. lol!

  • @antimainstream Bad excuse. Aston has had MANY years to make cars that compete with fellow European cars like Porsch, Ferrari, Audi, etc. yet they still have not come out on top! No excuses, Aston just doesn't make good performance cars in general. Only rarely, and just until recently they did make one or two, but that's pathetic for all the years they did not and had all the competition, whereas GM never truly competed with Euro car companies until lately and now it's dominating them.

  • @RevolTeam As this is meant as a put down for Corvette, your brain doesn't register correctly enough to see how much of a put down it is for your Aston. So the Corvette pretty dominates over the Aston for years with "primitive technology" like leaf spring suspension? Says a lot about how pathetic Aston is then, huh? LOL! You got owned here. Good night!

  • @JoshPV08 Not fairly though. lol!

  • @zemurph Only because the whining Aston team puts restrictions on the Corvette, apparently! So pathetic. They should leave racing if they cannot beat Corvette fair and square. LO!L

  • @akulax2 LOL! These whiny Eurotrash are SO pathetic! Not only do they love socialism in their politics, they love it in RACING now?! These stupid commie idiots! LOL!

To Aston Whining Martin team: If you can't take the HEAt, then GET THE HELL OUT of the KITCHEN, B*TCH!

Weighing down your competitor so you have more of a chance? WTF is that @#$%? LOL! LOSERS!

  • i was there that year, great race, great people, great atmosphere.

  • the Aston finished 15 Laps ahead of that corvette

  • @DeathHammer1994 Consistency is what tells the truth, and the Corvette has consistently dominated the GT class at Le Mans 24! Around 6-7 wins at 24 hour le mans in 10 years... says a lot. One win here or there for Aston only shows it was more likely because of blind luck, something went wrong with the Corvette, or the driver seriously screwed up.

  • @Northax Most of the times corvette didnt have any competition

  • @Northax beside the Astons are Quicker on qualifying

  • C5R I mean

  • see my C6R at le mans:

    /watch?v=0poS9wNDIl0

  • Just heard Jonny O'Connell is not returning to Corvette. What a shame. An era is over. I never thought he would be forced out.

  • I just obtained a lot of respect to the corvette, i;m in love.

  • I heard that Laguna still has some 917s around once in a while.. now almost 40 years later.

  • @gbowne1 its true, im going this year to see them

  • I'd love to see a One-77 Race car vs the new Corvette Stingray (The one in Transformers 2)

    Would be great :)

  • What they don't tell you is that they weigh the corvette down a lot just so that the Aston martin can compeat. but it doesn't matter the corvette is so reliable and handle so well in the corners that all they end up doing is abusing the Astons untill they break down & the vetts end up taking the win.

  • @bronxboyXXX They force the Corvette to add weight onto it so the Aston can keep up? LOL! When did they start doing this? That is so pathetic!

Will they force all cars to have the same engine, body style, etc. so they all can keep up? Morons. That is so dumb! WOW! Whoever makes these rules are MORONS!

  • @Northax if they have there way le mans will be like NASCAR. A bunch of cars that look exactly the same with nothing more than colors & decals to distinguish one from the other. This is what happens when the ones that keep loosing start crying fowl and threaten not to participate (since they know they will loose) .

  • @bronxboyXXX Exactly. lol! Like silly socialism.

  • Great Britain Vs. United States!

  • ASTON MARTIN RULEZZZZ!!!!

Too bad that they are so damn exclusive... :(

  • @rock3tcat In performance, Corvette beats Aston Martin overall. Sorry, "ol' chap". ;)

  • @Northax

It's a good thing that you're an American and therefore know nothing, otherwise I might have argued against you. :D

But we all know that the little plastic corvette is no match for the well made blue blooded racer called the Aston Martin DBR9. ;)

  • @rock3tcat Wow, amazing excuse there. lol! The Corvette is not plastic, so now you're outright lying and/or believing whatever Jeremy Clarkson says, thus proving you're all the more clueless about the car! Go Google search and see the materials the Corvette is made of, and surely it's not plastic. LOL! So you enjoy being embarrassed by me? Apparently, you do! Must be a weird fetish! :-)

Even the cheaper Z06 Carbon has carbon fiber, magnesium, etc. And only the back part of the trunk is fiber gl

  • @rock3tcat fiber glass to save on weight and some cost to GM. Sorry bud, but the Corvettes beat the Aston Marton in overall track performance, yet the vettes cost way less in price. Could you imagine if the Corvette sold for $170,000 to $200,000? LOL! It'd blow the Aston MArtin out of the water!

Only place I like the Aston is aesthetics, it looks awesome. That's it. But the price has to be brought down to at least $110,000, just to "somewhat" compete with the ZR1.

  • Corvettes have won Le Mans 24 in GT class around 6-7 times in the last 10 years, so you might want to do your homwork! Aston has to complain about Corvette and then making them gain weight so Aston pathetic "engineering" can "compete" lol! Whiny babies, if they're not good enough, then get out of racing! They suck on the road overall, and on the racetrack. They only look nice, that's it. lol Even CLARKSON hates the performance of the Aston, and he's a Brit that kisses Brit cars bottoms, or tries

  • Can anybody please tell me which race classes participate in this race?

Especially the first car in the video (/ the audi with the fuel problems = same race class) i would like to know which race class..

  • @Koruephiroth

There are 4 classes at the 24h of le mans.

LMP1 and LMP2 (the first car in the video is one of those): le mans prototpyes. Fastest cars on the grid. Usually take the overall win. The winning cars were powered by diesel engines for the last 5 years.

GT1 and GT2: More or less production based GT cars

  • Brilliant driving by O'Connell considering he had older tires than the aston

  • Go Audi!!!

  • the DBR9 looks like a fish

  • is the dbr9 using a v12 or is it restricted to v8

  • This C6R Vs DBR9 is starting to feel like X360 Vs PS3

:| At least i felt that feeling.....

  • i remember going to a Le Mans race a couple years ago in Belle Isle, Detroit, Michigan. Out of all of the cars the corvette sounded the best. i dont remember who won though.

  • i like corvette becuz of his V8 but de aston martin rape him totally

  • @Hanjin13 raped him? kidding me?

  • @Hanjin13 No it didn't. Pay closer attention. The Corvette caught the Aston and beat it into the turn. They just cut the footage before you could see it. as a matter of the fact just about every time the vette pulled away from the Aston they cut the footage.

  • @bronxboyXXX

Ok thank you, I didn't know that

  • only some race cars, the rest handles like a ship

  • jeremy clarkson should watch this

  • @thestig60 heck yeah he should, he loves both car but of curse he would lean more towards the aston martin because the aston martin it's british

  • @thestig60 even getting a tow out of the corvettes slipstream, the aston couldn't overtake, he would close up in the corners with his fresh tyres compared to the corvette's old tyres, still could not get past him they are in the same class competiting under the same rules. Yes indeed I think Jeremy Clarkson should watch this, the vette is just fucking lightning, try keep up.

  • It would be the same story if they were reversed, you've got to remember this is only the 2nd year of Aston Martin racing being at le mans in over 50 years. Once they got the car sorted it was clearly superior to the C6R, you don't hang on to the back of someone for over 2 hours if your slower than him. Also barring the first year it ran it qualified faster than the corvette every single year until AMR stopped running them. Johnny O's skill is what's stopping the aston's over take, not the car.

  • @themunster uh no UK fanboy loving your british bullshit, the C6R was superior, more wins then the Aston and lets not forget before the C6R the C65 was dominating. Personally I don't favour them but they are just better race cars, go have a cup a tea son

  • @freedomsoldier187 for gods sake grow up. 'go have a cup a tea son'? 'british bullshit?' USA fanboy lol

  • @themunster In this video, the Corvette didn't get fresh tires like the Aston did, so advantage to Aston, yet it still could not pass. It only caught up because it was in back of the Corvette, thus much less air friction, but side by side, the Corvette pulled ahead, even from the outside it took the corner as you see in the video near the midway point. There's no excuses here bud, the Corvette is superior, and 6-7 Le Mans 24 wins for the C5/C6R Corvettes only backs up such a claim by myself. :)

  • @themunster The pull ahead of the Corvette happened about 1/4 of the way through the video time. You see he takes the corner first, even from the outside, not the inside.

  • @Northax Sorry mate, no idea what you mean. Which corner? When?

  • @themunster Watch the video, see at: 1:26 and 1:27

  • @Northax Ah right yeah - Aston was never going to get past and he knew it, the Corvette had the correct line, the 'inside' isn't the racing line. The only reason the Aston is there is so he didn't have to lift off or risk running into the back of the Vette.

  • @freedomsoldier187 road version of the Corvette is crap(driven one myself) over the Aston Martin. but racing version of the corvette i must admit is epic

  • @freedomsoldier187 THE VETTE IS GD RACING CAR WAT U EXPECT I WUD LIKE TO SEE NISSAN BRING THE GTR

  • @freedomsoldier187 The Corvette had the better mechanical grip where as the DBR9 has the best straight line speed. The Aston's were actually the faster cars, and the factory team qualified above the P&M Vettes both times they won Le Mans, the Corvette was just the better car over the course of the race. But still lost.

  • @themunster

    2006 le mans gt1 c6r easily won

  • @Dominator5515 i'd expect P&M to beat prodrive and aston, as aston havn't built a GT racer... ever. P&M was the better team, more experienced GT drivers but once the dbr9 was mechanically sorted in 2006 it won both years untill they stopped in favour of running p1. don't get me wrong, c6r is the better all track car, the dbr9 was designed to win at le sarthe, which it did once the problems got ironed out, like that stupid fuel pump and oil pipe design.

  • @themunster

sry for replaying you so late but Corvette won both 2005 2006 24 H le mans / ALMS against AM Racing

  • @Dominator5515 I know, I was there both years, in fact I haven't missed a year since 2004. If you read what I said, I said that the Aston had a very rough first 2 years, but once it was sorted, as in once it wasn't exploding when they ran it flat out it was the better car around le sarthe, but the better car around say laguna seca or lime rock? Corvette every time.

  • Americans and europeans build the real endurance race cars as seen here in the 24h Lemans. dont see many unreliable weak jap cars runnig these world classes. a datsun GTR would not make it around one lap without blowing up.

  • @Topfueltrooper THE LAST TIME AMERICAN WON LE MANS WAS 1969 787B BUDDY REMEMBER IT

  • @dojOdRiFTeR uhh dude the 787B is from mazda, your thinking of Ford with the Gt40

  • @dojOdRiFTeR HAHAHA Oh lord... Car AND year wrong... don't give up your day job

  • @dojOdRiFTeR The corvette C5-R won the 24 hours of Le Mans GTS class in 01, 02 & 04 & even tho they did not win in 03 they won the Petit Le Mans championship that year. In 06 came the new C6-R and it took the win at the 24 hours of Le Mans In it's newly designated GT1 class but in 07 they fucked up the rules & the corvette placed 2nd to the Aston martin in 07 & 08 but won again in 09 only to loose to the Saleen S7-R in 2010 which Corvette had beat many times previously with the C5-R.

  • @bronxboyXXX overall but anyway its all about the love of motorsports

  • @dojOdRiFTeR :) But just to correct myself the corvette C5-R & C6-R won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 2001,2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2009 & won the

Petit Le Mans championship's in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and came in 2nd place each year onward till 2010. However since 06 Corvette Racing is no longer developing cars for GT1 but is now focused on GT2. But in 06 they did also make a C6 Z06-R that won the FIA GT3 European Championship in it's second year of entry even with restrictions!

  • Comment removed

  • But you know Corvette was running the C5r from 2000 until 2004. I would expect Corvette to be fast if they have 4 more years experience over Aston Martin. Both of these cars will be obsolete pretty soon and they'll just go into the history books with all the other cars like the McLaren F1 GTR and Mercedes CLK GTR.

  • @leylandcarsloverslea Seeing all the competition for racing in Europe, and America stays out of it for the most part, it's surprising that Aston Martin doesn't beat Corvette. American car companies are new on the scene when it comes to SERIOUSLY competing with Europeans in track racing. Yes, we've been in races, but not seriously trying until recent years, like the last decade; whereas Ferrari, Aston, Porsche, etc. have been going at it for 40-50 years!

Europeans don't give credit where its due

  • AGUANTE EL CORVETTE CARAJO!!!!!!

  • @AutoFanBoy And for nowdays they are pretty much out of ALMS and 24 hours of Le Mans races.

  • @AutoFanBoy I will agree that the Mazadas in the early 90's were dominate. But Japanese car companies have only won the 24 hour of Le Mans once. ( in 91and in a Mazda) For all of their technology they should have won more 24 hours of Le Mans races.

I do agree also that racing regulations can go overboard sometimes.

  • CORVETTE C6R WINS 24H LM #FTW

    .

    SMOKES!!!!

    .

  • @AutoFanBoy lol you are funny. but don't feel sorry for me, feel sorry for yourself for the bs you are saying, you look like a fool.

  • @AbeGroter Not everyone thinks like that,i'm English and i love the Corvette but my favourite was the Dodge Viper GTS-R which also was very very good at Le Mans

  • my two favorite cars head to head

  • i know it has some porpose, but still why do they turn their light? i just want to know.

  • of course american cars can handle, I mean the new Z06 Carbon smokes the GTR already

  • I wonder how much of those cars other than the body/chasis are stock.

  • Corvette C6R(L)

  • Hey im not saying there crap cars because there far from it, i love American muscle cars. Im just saying that they just lack grip around corners, enough said my favourite muscle cars has to be the Shelby GT 500 ( the same car from, gone in 60 sec's )

  • @ST3VE1989 no OLD American cars lack grip, whichh is pretty safe to say any brand of car from the 60's and 70's lacked grip compared to today. Jump in a BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar from 30 to 40 years ago and tell me how well they grip...

  • @ninjafatballz If your looking for good handling cars from BMW, Mercedes, and Jaguar from 30/40 yrs ago why don't you try the BMW3.0CSL, or the Mercedes 300SL, or Maybe back a bit further for an E-type Jag, I think you will find they all handled pretty well.

  • @iiredeye yea back then they did... but compared to today...no no they do not haha you tell me a 300SL handles better than a modern corvette then you are def. on drugs... and I bet you 90% of the people from europe always saying american cant handle have never even sat in an american car let alone drove one and judged for themselves, they usually just suck off Jeremy Clarksons penis lol... look up American Iron series on here and tell me those cars are not BADASS! I am NOT biased.

  • I love this. I really like racing this on the game GRID its pretty legit:)

  • good dual, great drivers

  • The only reason corvette won is becuase the aston had reliability issues. I think for a small team (which they were) to only lose to a team with all of general motors funding them, with more experienced drivers and crew, more sponsors becuase of a clutch issue is a damn good one. The next two years the more experienced aston team with better funding blizted the vettes. They got so bored of winning so easily the moved to the lmp1 class.

  • @Jinjajamie The only reason? You mean the only reason they have been on top in the class for years? Get over it Fan Boy.

  • @mrnipplechopps They were so successful because they didn't have any competition. Name another top team that raced in GT1 until aston arrived?

  • @mrnipplechopps They were so successful because they didn't have any competition. Name another top team that raced in GT1 until aston arrived?

  • @Jinjajamie All that means is the C6Rs kicked ass. It isn't their fault everyone else sucked a big one.

  • @Jinjajamie Corvette has better handling than most high end exotics and more power, certainly more torque. The Z06 has a hydroform aluminum frame carbon fiber floor, fender, magnesium engine cradle.Tips the scale at sub 3200lbs with 505 Hp and over 400 pounds of torque. It is has one of the best lap time around Nuremberg ring for production cars and it cost less than 75k list.

  • @racezx9 The ZR1 has the Nurburgring time that is close to the top, isn't it?

Still got beat by the Viper and Zonda anyway, though.

  • @Jinjajamie I think reliability is pretty important in racing.

  • the only reason the corvette has good handling is because it was purpose built for this race. Any normal corvette would get annihilated by an Aston Martin

  • @JRPIV91 no thats far from true, its the other way around. there isnt a single stock Aston that can run with a Z06 or ZR1.

  • @ninjafatballz What about the 1-77?

  • @RickDev15 Hahaha. Laughable.

  • Typical DBR9 eating C6R exhaust the entire race.

  • @Greendude33 Aston is better than corvette full stop

  • Amen, fatdan172501

  • even with fresh tires he isen't passing the vet

  • corvette is one of the very few american car that handles good

  • @smallblocksupercharg You can take any car.. and with the right engineering you can make it a winner. Pontiac GTO R, Pontiac GXP R, Winners of the Grand Am series. Thanks of course to the Pratt and Miller engineering.. the same group that engineers the Compuware C6 R. Ford Mustang wins all the time vs Porsche, Corvette and others (Continetal Series) Look at the Saleen S7 2 time Championship with Chris Bingham.

  • @JuergenGDB American cars are just as good as european cars with the right engineering.. they may not look as good but they can be just as fast. I forgot to Mention Dodge Viper which has done very well in the GT1 catagory years back. Cadillac, Panoz etc.

  • @JuergenGDB yeh i ment from the showroom not modified

  • THis was really one exciting battle! I remember this clearly :)

  • I want to see MAZDA FURAI

  • Here's an interesting tidbit...

Ferrari to use Corvette-derived suspension on 599 GTB Fiorano

    autoblog. com/2006/04/29/ferrari-to-use-corvette-suspension-on-599-gtb-fiorano/

  • @FraAngelico729 And they say americans don't have quality, eh... FERRARI has turned to the US :)

  • this is one of the reasons i see lemans 24 hr besides being the best existing race every year because these two cars always give a great battle

  • WHERE IS THE SECOND PART TO THIS?

  • GO corvette go

  • Both cars sound great together.

  • see? american cars have good handling

  • @909Monopoly I agree The z06, zr1, and ford gt handle well, but thats about it or is it?

  • Viper, S7, any Mosler.

  • @KARASAWA40 true that, but thats where the list ends, isnt it?

  • What do you mean by that? If you're implying that American cars with decent handling are the exception, you're mistaken.

  • @crisjoel

Any Corvette, Viper, Saleen, or Mosler; anything by Callaway, DRM, Lingenfelter, Shelby, Factory Five, or R Motorsports; Camaro Z28SS, Trans AM WS6, Pontica G8, Panoz AIV Roadster, Fisker Karma, Tesla Roadster...

    You get the point.

    Jackass.

  • @FraAngelico729, and now thats where the list ends right??? is that it?
