  • The People of Canada lost 92 acres of Experimental Farm land: "Order in Council: February 25, 1988 - Surplus Crown Assets Act - Sale to the Regional Municipality of Ottawa of a surplus parcel of vacant land (37.63 ha.) forming part of the Central Experimental Farm, which is situated on the west side of Merivale Road, north of Baseline Road, in the City of Ottawa, Ontario." Agriculture Ministers Bud Olson and Eugene Whelan, true heroes, refused to privatize any land at the Experimental Farm.

  • This is wonderful, i feel so calm just laying back and enjoying the view and chilling out with the music, i could do this all day, it's so relaxing.

This brings back fond snowy memories, thank you for uploading such a great video.

  • Superb!

  • it's here October 27, 2011!!! rain& SNOW here in Connecticut!

  • This takes me back 20 years, the cold Japan winters in Matsudo-shi Chiba-ken with my boyfriend....I never wanted that time to end but it had too...I had to come back to America my home. We listened to George Winston daily in the cold winters...my memories will never die and I will always pray for him, and hope he is happy wherever he is. I loved that kind gentle man, he was so rare, so deep, so kind and everyone loved him. I wish I had told him I would never forget him.

  • From Argentina. Exelent video!

  • Lovely video.. thanks for the ride

  • Perfecto para enviar a los que viven para tunear coches o carros o cars.

  • Así me gusta conducir !.

  • ok the song is great but.....snow is all the magic. i want snowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

  • @theforgoten6 We had our first snow just before Hallowe'en. Didn't stay but it was a taste.

  • @theforgoten6 if you want snow, come to utah!

  • @samluvzcc We get an average of 66cm of snow, here in Ottawa (25.98").

  • 心の琴線に触れます

    キースジャレットに似た感性を持っいるようですね

    期待してます

  • メロディーに心が溶けていくような感覚なります

  • This song is so pure :')

  • Thanks for the music .... and the ride... it's relaxing. :-)

  • @edticzon88 Thanks for watching and listening!

  • Wow, thank you, just watched the video and music and it's made me totally relaxed, thank you.

  • ahhh... reminds me of growing up in suburban Boston. winter skies are so beautiful--in a subtle way.

  • Thanks Mudhooks. Very nice video. One that takes you out of high gear and slows things down a bit. We all need that. I first heard of GW in 1987. I slept in a newly built garage loft - in Nederland, Colorado. I awoke one morning to the sound of this song. Beyond this song - I could look out and see the Continental Divide and hear dozens of birds singing at the same time. You want to talk about feeling like being somewhere not of this world? This was that moment.

  • @1waken Thanks. There are far too few of those moments but when you have one....

  • Love it! One question: how did you mount the camera to keep it steady?

  • @bsief I have a clamp and a mini tripod. I clamp the tripod to the visor upside down and flip the resulting video afterwards.

  • This is one of Winston's signature solos--beautiful! His music always paints me the image of being alone in the woods in the winter--so much solitude but yet comforting. Your video does just that as well. Thanks!

  • @unebonnevie. agreed. i used to listen to this on road trips with my family. about the only thing that could calm me down. so serene. also reminds me of the snow when it muffles out the other sounds. then there's just you and life. no mind distractions. beautiful and peaceful.

  • Thanks for the ride.

It reminds me of upper N.Y. state but without the mountains. Where in Canada is this?

  • It is in downtown Ottawa.... not RIGHT down town but well within the city limits. Back in the 60s, this used to be "practically in the country". Now, thousands of commuters a day get to travel through this on their daily down town commute. It's beautiful all through the year. The Botanical Gardens, the Arboretum, and cattle barns and fields, as well as parks and fields are all there and free to visit.

  • "To Eyewoodsay" From someone who hasn't even got the intelligence to spell basic words, this is very funny.

  • Eventhough this music was composed for automn, you really made something nice with this winter landscape. Thanks

  • Thank you!

  • @Mudhooks oh dear....have i said something you dont like??..if you cant take comments dont put your stuff out there......any way got 2 go....you know videos 2 slag down and wot not

  • cool

  • Thank you....

  • Beautiful video, A. Keep up the good work. Watching it feels like being in the car. And don't worry about people who don't like it and can't spell "interesting".

  • Thanks!

  • Lovely video !!!!

  • well its kina relaxing

  • ok I've been practicing since my last commetn and I can play the first half decently now :D

  • Ok i absolutetly love this song but i can't find the sheet music anywhere... where did you find it??? (or are u just playing by ear?)

  • ah, I have the piano book for Winston's December album :D I think I got it at a book store somewhere ...

  • my favorite track from "Autumn" album/

  • beautiful.

  • oh my I sort of like this.

  • george winston does wat most pianist fail to do; realize how powerful music is, how close it is from touching our hearts itself. im 13 and looooove playn this song. its so thought provoking

  • So peacefull

  • This is so beautifull. I wish all teens like myself would listen to this type of music at least once. It might touch some of them, and maybe prevent some bullying, for music is a powerfull thing.

  • thanks for something positive. there are so many nuts in the world who. I was bullied and all those guy now are either in prison or are looked upon by my small community as scum

  • You're not the only one. I'm 23 now, but I was always made fun of for liking music like this. I think kids really miss out when they don't even give it a try.

  • My parents always had all sorts of music available to me as a kid. Of course, we didn't have a radio or tv until I was in my teens so I wasn't exposed to pop music except through my friends. But when I was little, my mother was a teacher so all the babysitters played rock music so I got to hear everything, really. I listened to jazz, World music, folk, country... everything. It widens your horizons.

  • Sounds like you had a childhood many would want, i only wish i knew then what i know now......

  • True story... Because I didn't have a radio, I wasn't too clear on how it worked. I always thought that when the announcer said "And now we have The Beatles playing 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand'..." It was The Beatles playing the song down at the station. I couldn't understand why my friends who were real fans weren't going crazy and wanting to run down to the station.

  • All of his music is so beautiful. We never know what it is that touches some one.

Thank you for posting this - and I will listen to your other videos as soon as I can. Thank you!!

  • Oh, I love this. George Winston is so talented. I've seen him in concert! Incredible talent. Lovely images and such

wonderful music. thank you, David, for sharing this with me. Thank you, Mudhooks, for posting.

  • This seems to be the most popular of the videos I have posted. The music just seems to touch people. Thanks for your comment and appreciation.

  • Breathtaking! 7:38 is my fav. part of the song.

  • My English teacher likes to play music in class, and one day she played this, and I just fell in love with it, I love this song, and all his others.

  • Hey my friend....Im from UK and I didnt understand the last comment you got myself...lol....speaking as a Brit....you was DEFINITELY on the right side of the road....but apart from all that...just wanted to say, I enjoyed this ride through the snow with beautiful calming music...thank you, much love and joy to you ♥♥♥

  • beautiful music, beautiful scenery, but you're driving on the wrong side of the road.

  • ?

Part of the road is one way and the rest I am on the right side of the road which is the correct side of the road, here.

  • Back in 83, my mom, childhood friend and I were traveling back from vacation in her camper truck. I was resting the tape player on my lap because her old truck only had an AM radio installed. It was dark outside, windy and raining fairly hard. We were traveling along PCH hwy in So-Cal and this somber song was playing perfectly to the scene just outside the wind shield. Over 25 years later when I heard this song once again, I think of her now since her passing and am thankful.

    Thank you!

  • We never know when something, out of the blue, will trigger a memory like this. I'm glad it touched you.

  • Thanks for sharing that with us, it was lovely to read.

  • this is one of my favorites of George Winston!!

  • his the modern day mozart that's what i tell myself.

  • Even though I'm only 14, I went to see my first George Winston concert in mid-December with my parents (my dad likes his music) and absolutely fell in love with his work. The way he played it was magical and undescribable; the combination of the notes and chords that he uses really sounds like that particular season. I've been playing piano for almost 8 years now and I look up to him as an inspiration. Thanks for the video.

  • This is one of my favorites from George Winston-I have been privledges to have seen him play twice in the 80's-and each time he was barefoot when playing the piano-and the second concert he played some Hawaiian Slack guitar which was amazing!

This video makes me almost look forward to winter-if I didn't have to drive/shovel the snow, I would like winter more:-)

What an unexpected jewel to find in Youtube!:-D

  • After 12 years of living in South Florida, I'd give anything to shovel snow!

  • I play this video to meditate. I love the winter scenes you beautifully created here. Watching this video is like taking a 10 minute winter vacation. And as a person raised in the northeastern US living in Florida, I need it.

  • I am glad you like it and that it moves you!

  • Living along the Californian coast for now, but raised in Idaho! Same thoughts and feelings. So peaceful and relaxing. George is the man.

  • Certainly, a very different landscape from California!

    Thanks for the comment!

  • There's nobody else like George Winston in the world. He's so unique, I could listen to him all day.

  • Thanks very much for the wonderful video. This song really helps to relax and let me focus when I am painting. Thanks again.

  • when it starts from 03:49 , i feel my deep emotions ...

    Respect from Turkey.....

  • Tesekkür ederim

(Hope I spelled it right and used the correct form....)

  • Thanks for the drive & this beautiful piano piece.

    both were so relaxing!

  • what beautiful music so relaxing and unwinding a perfect song for the end of a hard day. Im very pleased. The video did help visualy but i just wanted to close my eyes and reflect though. Thanks

  • I'm glad it moved you!

  • Thanks for putting this up. Incredible. That is a perfect video manifestation of Winston's music. So elemental. I loved it. Winston is my favorite musician and has been for over 25 years. Have you done a video with fall colors to his music?

  • No, I haven't. The last video I did of fall colours, unfortunately, didn't turn out so well because of problems with the light through the windshield.

    Next fall, I promise.

  • could be music for meditation...Divine

  • I've been watching/listening to this so much since i found it. It's truely an absolutly amazing video!! I love it! :D

  • Thank you!

  • i drive a bit of this on my way to work most days from prince of whales up island park drive..very nice area/drive

  • It is a beautiful drive. Now that my office moved to the other side of the Rideau Canal, I only drive that route on the odd occasion. Usually it's the Carleton U. side of the canal I take.

  • I wanna say, if you are gonna move all your videos from youtube, please just leave this one? lol

  • I should change my blurb... I have decided to keep some of my more artistic ones here. This one will most definitely stay.

  • Thanks a lot!! :D

  • tres bon gout entre les imageset le rythme musical continuez a nous sortir des sentiers battus en ce domaine on ne se lasse pas d ecouter et de devorer votre creation

  • Merci!

  • That video was just truely amazing, i can think of no words that would truely do this justice.

This piece of music really makes one's heart feel like it's about to leap right out of one's chest. It is beautiful!

Thankyou for sharing it here!! ~Jonny

    ~Martha

  • so peaceful great vid for this tune thanks for sharing ;-)

  • Hmm, it's off the "Autumn" recording, not "December", so I think you're off by a season! ;-)

  • This tune is comming in "december" or different cd?

  • I don't know. I downloaded it on its own.

  • how do u keep the camera so steady,no jitter at all

  • I have a small tripod, just about 4 inches tall) which I clamp to my sunvisor. Of course, I can't use my visor but I get the video! The video is shot upside down and I flip it over using my video program.

  • It looks like everybody drives a lot slower in Canada, Muddy. (kidding.. it's great)

  • Only the people in Volvos! (I drive a Corolla)

  • Very beautiful. as always ..later rob

  • Thanks, Rob! It is a shame that all the snow has more or less disappeared. Normally, the Rideau Canal (to the left in the first half of the video) would be open to skaters. It is actually Spring-like weather which may be fine for some but I like the winter to be "wintery".

  • Very beautiful. How peaceful the music and the video made me feel. Thank you for sharing. Sorry I have been absent so long.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Your videos are always enjoyable, Mudhooks! -- Matt

  • Hi Matt, and thanks!

  • It's always a great, peaceful, and relaxing experience to listen to George Winston - Your images worked perfectly with the music. Very good.

  • Thanks, Ken!

  • very fun
