The R in R-05 stands for reserve. Thats like a part time academy. Its meant to span more time for people who also have to work because their agency is only sponsoring them. But that in itself takes discipline and drive. I still respect those guys. BTW i was A-98

12.00 an hr is a joke. you have to work in a hole in the wall agency to get paid that. On the average starting pay for a cop in texas is 50k the majority of agencies pay over 60k starting off. ive seen some that pay over 70k. its not that bad of pay. for what we do i guess you could say it is. but its more than alot of college graduates.

nyr93941 ive done both. if i had to do it again i would pick boot camp. police academy doesnt only require you to be physical but you have to learn alot too. its 18 weeks...thats a little longer than boot camp. my police academy was very demanding when it came to physical fitness. Oh yeah what branch were you in?lol thats right you weren't.

Depends on State Law but in most states Legal to be certified to carry a Taser you do not have to be shot with one, but must pass a written exam to be certified.

i dont think they do, but they do mase you, and you have to be able to fend people off while its in your eyes, only for a short amount of time. And im not sure if all departments do that.

BTW, college doesn't necessarily make one's IQ higher, in fact the people at the Revenuw Office with four year degrees count on the high school dropouts to tell tehm what number they are on, even though they have a big lit counter on the wall. ;)
