I play amt gard, i bought a NERF sword and my friend bought an Axe;however, my other friends complained that they where to hard. so we cant use them..( we fight pretty rough) Are these harder then the NERF swords. If so, then what do you recommend for our fighting style? We play Daggorhir, amt gard, LARP (and DnD :)

@RTard48JRod : It's Amptgard, and Dagorhir. NERF swords are for children and are very unsafe to be used by older people. These are for Larp, not Amptgard and DEFINITELY not for Dagorhir.

what is the life span of these weapons over time? Im assuming the latex degrades over a few years to where it eventually breaks down, am i wrong?

@dave997 I'm only going on what I've seen in reviews and what I have read. Calimacil is by far the best I've heard but the warlords line, the line in this vid, is pretty good for the lower price. I've seen some in my group that I fight with last over a year with good care and maintenance like any real sword or knife. Obviously their not like real weapons. Latex does break down, but you get your money's worth out of them long before they break down. Hope that kind of helps.

Kevlar tips doesnt ensure a secure thrust - The bending of the tip is what determines a secure thrust. And as shown in the video, the tip bends directly into a sharp 90 degree angle, where it should have been bending with a curved 90 degree angle

No matter how high quality your latex might be - try hitting a tree with it, and the latex will take damage - the testing here isnt equal to the damage the sword will take during play.

Latex weapons die of two main reasons: sunlight, and latex damage (Cause by hitting object that damage the latex)

If you want weapons that doesnt get damaged, even after hitting concrete try calimacil swords

@AndyCarnage Not really no, they are always optimizing their foam for every edition - I have an old editiion and its perfect (for me)- the newer editions are even better.

I bought some weapons from DarkKnight armory, and was horrified with how cheaply made they are.. The latex is already cracking after a few minutes of testing them... Not even fighting, just hitting and stabbing each other with them to make sure they're safe for contact... Does anyone here use latex weapons? Is this a problem with all latex weapons, or was I just screwed over?

We in Europe have mostly latex weapons (99%) and it work greatly. Sadly it is not allowed for us to stab but with this cevlar protected tip I think it should work and I would love to stab also here.

o.O is there even any LARP groups in the US that use latex weapons. I know most in Europe do but I haven't found any that use them in the US

I live in Québec, Canada, and some Medieval store sells their own brand. They look less realistic, but they are still pretty good looking and are as durable as those shown in this Video. Due to their expensive cost, however, not many people LARP with such swords, but I saw quite a lot who had their own. some also have custom made ones and some do their own with the same Latex process. I'm sure, if you look carefully, you can find some people owning one.

I'll give you a run down on what kind of character this is at the moment.

My character is a military looking guy who can run really fast, he wields a very long sword and attacks opponents while moving very fast.

I also have the ability to warp from place to place if I my warping pack has suffient energy.

My attacks are:

Wow I did not expect this. I don't think I'll be purchasing any of those items myself as I am extremely enthusiastic with the functional steel weapons and I am not a LRPer, but it's great to see the company expanding to different related areas.
