@policeluigi ZST (the organization he was fighting in) allowed fighters to fight without gloves if they wanted, but they would only be allowed to use palm strikes to the head of their opponent, no closed fists to the head.
In real life of fighting, if his opponents go together 2 guys then how can he fights?
If he choice "lie down fighting" that how I call, When u down that mean you get kill in real fight (street fight) but in MMA OK to win because 1 on 1... Some what!
@CharlieDoan you definitely underestimate mma, but go train it for a few months(good coach required) and then tell me its useless in a street fight. you'll figure out which is street safe and not....also people don't just lie down and try and attack you lol imagine there is a setup you go through to get there...
its true, even my bjj buddy admits, he cuts alot of weight to move to the lower classes to dominate. Unless the japanese fighter was insanely good which some of them are, then they'll stand a chance against roid monkeys.
@tom8me because most of good japanese fighters fight in japan and not ufc. aoki, kawajiri, hioki, yamamoto, mizuto hirota, yokota, kanehara etc would dominate the ufc and wec if they fight there.
@jingiskhan100 Aoki just lost to the Strikeforce lightweight champion, which is pretty bad cuz Strikeforce blows. Also, Takanori Gomi just got destroyed by Kenny Florian....these japanese fighters would not dominate, they would be dominated
@tom8me weightcutting. Japanise fighters tend to refuse to do it. normal weight cutt for western fighters is 10-15pound in just water weight. Main reason, aswell that with mainly american fighters ofc americans will usually dominate ;)
@tom8me size difference, also style differences. Many UFC fighters are focused on winning while many of the japanese want to put on a show with exciting moves(flying triangles).
If I was a mma fighter, this would be one guy I would not want to fight. When he gets hold of your leg, be prepared for it to make a nice crackling sound, then be prepared to scream your ass off.......ouch!
he doesn't wear gloves because he has more grip for leg locks without them. and since he chooses not to wear gloves, he is not allowed to strike with his fists
Roger Gracie is considered the best grappler right now. Marcelo Garcia even said that he's the biggest challenge. He's beaten Jacare a number of times, Xande Ribeiro, Mario Sperry, Shinya Aoki, Robert Drysdale a number of times, Marcelo Garcia twice (both of whom have beaten Maia). He hasn't been tapped out in a competition since he was a blue belt. Maia is certainly an amazing grappler, one of the best. But he's nowhere near Roger.
oo, well i gotta agree with that, i think that i probably ment in mma or something but, yeah, if there was a top 3 list, marcelo jacare and roger have to defenitly be on that, defenitly world class in there own downrights
If we're talking MMA none of those guys are the top contenders. Not yet at least. They're all amazing grapplers but they still have to learn the ins and outs of MMA. Maybe one day though. So agree with you on that. But in pure grappling the one who is considered the best right now is Roger.
Right now he's considered number 1. A few years ago Marcelo was considered number 1. Jacare has always been top three, but right now Gracie is considered the best.
oooo ok. so roger is 1 and marcelo is 2. jacare is 3?? but yeah i mean i cant believe how many world class grapplers there are, and these guys have surpassed them.
Exactly. Rumors have it that he still smokes all the top BJJers even today. They'll be the first to admit it. Rickson is Rickson -- the guy is a living legend.
Really Great Vid, never saw this guy, he got a lot of skills, a great inspiration, is wonderfull how a lot of good fighters keep in the shadows in a certain way with no one to take a look at them
Imanari has great skill in the leg submissions and great speed for transitions but does he utilize any upper body submissions as well as he does the lower? Myself I think people underutilize leg submissions!
Have you actually watched some of his matches? He can strike (somewhat) and he uses it to set up his leg locks.
One dimensional wrestlers or strikers won't cut it in today's MMA but submission specialists like Imanari, Aoki and Maia can do fine with their style alone.
