i never thought Country music could have the ultimate powerful serious inspiring song not until i first heard this song in 1972 after buying the Best of the Best of Merle Haggard album on 8 track tape which just came out that year.

This song alway's reminds me of My Uncle who sing's this song so well. And of when i was a kid, we used to go to a Labor camp in Grayson California and sing Gospel song's to the Laborer's. They were the people Merle sing's of in this song. They traveled around from Farm to farm, where ever the work led them. It was a memory I'll alway's cherish.
