  • A lot of people say that it's hard to understand this song if you're a kid, which isn't completely true. I've had a lot of things and people in my life taken too early, opportunities missed, and people I'd like to spend more time with. I try to accomplish a butt load everyday, but then I relax and wish time would stop so I'd have more time later on. Maybe I'm just sticking my toe in the water with my understanding, but I feel it.

  • That last improvisation he did with his voice at the end...

    ...fuck, dude, THAT is soul.

  • This song for some reason has 1 dislike. I love this song it always makes the "pain" go away at least for me.

  • A great song from a wonderful ARTIST...at least he didn't sing in playback, like many divas nowadays.

  • He absolutely put all his passion and intensity into this song. It just gets under ur skin.

  • Strictly 80s Joel.

  • cool i didnt know he could levitate rocks

  • This was not a huge hit (it's difficult for younger people to fully appreciate) but I think it's one of the best songs he ever wrote...

  • @siasti It wasn't a huge hit, in the sense that it was played once an hour, but it was a pretty respectable hit... And one of my faves by Billy Joel.

  • buenisimo........ de 10!!!

  • classic billy joel

  • Thanks for posting. Loved this song since I was a little kid, before I even knew what it meant, lol.

  • new york's finest !!!

  • Se me ponen los pelos como escarpias!!!

  • Billy provided his own lower octave backin' vocals. He might've still been a smoker back then. Supposedly, he got hypnotized into quittin'. Anyway, hit #34 in Billboard.

  • is this a single version? the one I always hear is 4:06 or so.

  • @jaecht83

This is the longer version. You can find it on his "Greatest Hits, Volume I and II" CD.

  • @jaecht83 There's two versions. One was cut shorter for some reason. Probably to make it shorter for the radio.

  • @DaveWollenberg Interesting, I didn't know he sang both sides of this duet! The vocal layering on this song is fantastic, both in the verses and in the chorus. Well, OK, everything about this song is fantastic.

  • es un genio

  • Does anyone know what the heck he is saying at 4:46? Thanks.
