got the same motor in my craftsman tractor except mines a 19HP twin and I dont know how well it would do on a cold start I haven had it long enough but it never struggles like this with one of those pitiful neverstart walmart batteries when its warm
know im tring to find a plow for my huskee lawn tractor and theres one that ses it fits all mtd tractors and i bealive this os the one do u think it would fit my huskee?
I use at least a 600 and up CCA battery- ive totally killed a couple 350-400 CCA batteries trying to start my mod murray - thats alot of motor to crank over.
Funny you mention the rear fenders rusting- nearly all the MTDs i got down here are all like that- most likely because PO parked them outside uncovered- heck one had grass growing in the seat.
Sorry- the PO means previous owner- all mine are non functioning when i get em super cheep.
One of a couple issues i find with MTD's- battery tray isnt large enough - have to use a motorcycle type battery - another thing is the way the deck attaches- very crappy design.

The opposed twins are awsome- they need alot of starting power tho to crank over - ive got 7 opposed motors.
MTD's will last IF theyre maintained right - ive got a 92 white LT12 i bot new- i havent been exactally easy on it- but still runs and mows awsome.
Yours in still in really nice shape- most i have are all rusted ( due to PO).

Yea they are a sweet motor, lots of power! but are hard to turn over.
its starting to buble and loose its paint on the back fenders because salt useto sit on there when i drove it on the road.
thanks for the awesome comment -Jaycob.
