@guninhatersdown First of all if you knew half of what I've forgotten about the Onity system you'd stop and pay your respects. The Onity system is a code based system. "Security Card" I'm assuming you're referring to the actual guest room key or a master key with this term?; Doesn't much matter explaining the concepts here you're obviously watching cartoons or playing in traffic anyways. This video references a very old HT24 lock with a shear point that no longer exists.
hahahaa OK STUPID SO HOW DO U OPEN THE DOOR LOCK WITH YOUR PENIS OR SECURITY CARD. BECAUSE LAST TIME I STAYED IN A HOTEL I DIDNT HAVE TO STICK MY PENIS IN THE SLOT JUST A SECURITY CARD TO OPEN THE LOCK . WHERE YOU FROM ???
@MrSimonity hahha hows the job going? im an asswipe,, but u still work for onity locks, so thats make me the shit and you the asswipe,,,,,so everytime i wipe my but your the asswipe. so if you are still mad please let it out let us know what the name of the magic key
@guninhatersdown whats so funny about me working for onity?at least i know how to get in that lock your wanting to gain access to!!there is nothing more to say on the subject cos im obviously dealing with a clueless, infantile person.good luck with being a TWAT hope it gets you far in life.:o)
@MrSimonity well after so long you reply to me but ok,,,,, anyways i did get a key card and now we have the box to programe it ,,,not to hard to do ,,but hey keep the good work up,,,, thank you ebay
It's not that easy to open this type of lock. you have to drill through the spindle after knocking out the handle to open it. they've already drilled through the spindle, place the handle back and knocked it and simply insert a screw driver. Onity should make comment as well to this video.
The lock case does not lock at all. The outside lever handle is attached to a clutch mechanism that is in the escutcheon. When the card is inserted the clutch is engaged allowing the outside lever handle to conect directly to the spindle going through the lock case. What this video is showing is that if you hit the handle hard enough you can do enough damage to get past the clutch and open the lock directly. If the clutch is bypassed the deadbolt will open with the latch, same hub for both
Actually you are wrong the deadbolt would open with the latch. This idesi a lock with a clutch in the front escutcheon and the video is showing away bi pass it. you need a big hammer though>
Are you sure about that? I have also installed and serviced many of this particular lock. From what I can tell, it seems if you can turn the spindle the deadbolt will disengage as well. Furthermore, what is being demonstrated in this video is basically the recommended way to open any HT20i lock that has experienced a major internal malfunction. Except, in the manual they recommend removing the handle then drilling 2 1/4 inches into the lock.
Should have been '...installed and serviced many of THESE particular lockS...'
----------
Well... if you turn the INSIDE handle...it retracts the deadbolt... the outside remains locked until you insert a card or whathaveyou.
I fail to see the entire point of this video. The way the spindles are made now... any stress will cause them to break...therefore saving the lock from any further damage.
I now redirect you back to the comment made by 'thesnelsons' 1 year ago.
Oh it seems you are right, I had an error in my grammar.
It is all about the mortise lock. If you are talking about a mortise lock that has two lever hubs, one that disengages the deadbolt, and one that is unable to disengage the deadbolt then I think you are right. However, since there are times when the deadbolt must be disengaged from the outside, I don't think such a mortise lock would be used in this situation. Meaning, if the lever hub can be manipulated the deadbolt can be disengaged.
Well, just look in the lock's manual, under "drilling a lock."
What is shown here is the same, except for the method to get to the lever hub (breaking off the handle vs drilling). I'm sure what thesnelsons said is true, but a few seconds of drilling would bypass that as well. So yeah, it's not always that easy, but it's not much harder.
Another thing you can try is a master key. With that you can disengage the deadbolt from the outside as well.
Tesa/Onity locks are pieces of shit, but few hotel locks are going to withstand a freaking sledgehammer hit. There's a much quieter and nondestructive way to open most of these, even with a failed card reader and the deadbolt engaged.
Actually with many of the new standards with e-locks, such as BHMA, these locks will now withstand a sledgehammer. There are only a few out there that are BHMA certified, but Onity is one of them.
So what? One would obviously be able to tell if someone attempted entry. If your stuff gets stolen, big deal. Keep your valuables in a safe deposit box.
correct info. I own 5 hotels with the onity-tesa locks so I called them.
They confirmed it but they refuse to come fix my locks and suggested I buy the new ones!!!! So what about the other 3 million locks that can be broken in at any time???
This company is not serious and I will never trust them again for the security of my hotels.
Look at their safes!: poor design, security and poor custumer service policy.
This is a real scandal: They clearly live in the last century!
This was a video of a very old Onity (TESA) lock. The locks they put out now have a break point on the handle shaft that was shown broken and compromised. NOW, the broken handle shaft separates, leaving the clutch mechanism secure. Good video for those who live in the last century.
Were can I find internal parts for the HT24 ANSI

I'm a distributor of Onity locks. Some parts in the clutch mechanism were changed and now something like this is impossible.
tomdab1 2 years ago
This is BS. The deadbolt on these locks stays active (locked) unless the magnetic key overrides it electronically.
ChiefMugambu 3 years ago
The inside and outside handles were independent of each other.
They didn't share the same spindle.

Notice the deadbolt wasn't retracted. On those locks, the outside handle locks when the deadbolt is thrown.
It wouldn't have been that easy to just knock the handle off and turn it.
Sorry but... that ain't going to fly.

Still... the deadbolt wasn't extracted or thrown.
It's easy to just knock a handle off and pretend that the lock is defeated when the deadbolt isn't engaged.
mboltonjr 3 years ago
Oh by the way... I've installed Onity locks in the past. And of those I've installed, the door handle did lock when the deadbolt was engaged.

Hi Mike. I used to work for these jokers and you don't know the half of it!
QC was poor when they made the locks in Mexico and it certainly hasn't improved now they outsource production to China.
