THE greatest of all underrated bands...Ron & Russell are lyrical geniuses,

I remember reading along intensely the lyrics on the albums while the song played.

And alwys had a fantastic band with them too, especially Dinky Diamond, their drummer on this footage. RIP Dinky-You are loved.

both Russel's "dancing-marching-whatever" moves AND his "scared look" were totally intentional indeed :

as a former U(niv.of)C(ali)LA student in Theatre Arts & Filmmaking he was continuosly acting / rolplaying with the audience, TV-cameras, on the lyrics and breaks.

He was an expert in playing some affronted 'n' arrogant French or Bvrly Hills drama queen bitch (see both IN CONCERT posts).

Actually, I really adore his performances and dancing, ...sooo coool !!

Yeah I wonder if it was intentional or if he genuinely was frightened. You never know with the Mael brothers right?! In other performances (I have a playlist ; ) Russell seems so confident, less nervous, more assertive don't you agree?

I think that it is totally intentional. It's part of the performance and all. Maybe it depends on the song, too. Like, Russell sings B.C. with a very shivery and kind of frightened voice so it's natural that his performing is quite hysterical too :D
