@iSquishMoths almost every band does that. It helps the sound, because if you record the drums last, the drums will overpower everything else and you'll hear mostly drums

@iSquishMoths Remember before they start recording the album they have a demo of the final song, so the drum can either play along to these demos or just use click tracks and play from scratch.

You'll never find a band that when recording professinoally doesn't start with the drums because they are the foundation to the song. When in studio the most common thing is to record like:

RHYTHM GUITARS

LEAD GUITAR

SOLOS & HARMONIES

SYNTH PARTS (If any)

VOCALS
