What i am confused is, yes, our brains may transmit signals at certain frequencies but we can trigger our brains and manipulate them via music? Now this brings up 2 issues 1) this implies that consciousness and internal cognition can be controlled via conditioning 2) are our auditory senses the only things that can shape the brain, i figure what you can do with one sense you can do with another sense. So if i started seeing images at some certain hertz, my brain can be relaxed?
and hope you do, too. It has been around for over 16 years with strickingly positive results, has growing research support, and is provided only by a select sample of licensed health care providers.
You talking about how there's very little to no money being made off of this sort of therapy, that relieves about half of my skepticism and anger from this therapy.
If you're making claims of relaxation and possibly better sleep, that's one thing.
If you start charging a bunch of money, and saying it cures cancer, my blood pressure will go through the roof.
I'm not against alternative treatments, I'm against alternative truths when it comes to the effectiveness.. Time will tell I guess.
Yes, I agree it is very important to investigate claims made by people who are trying to "sell" a product or procedure. I would recommend checking the research support for the procedure, talking to others who have have already tried the product or procedure, and assuring the practioner who would be providing the procedure is reputable. I think BMT is one of the procedures that is worth trying!
Yes, there has been research conducted at the Moscow Medical Academy, University of Toronto, and other European countries. Since Brain Music recently came to the U.S., Homeland Security has become interested in its effectiveness and is currently testing it.
Thanks I had a look around and found a few of the articles, it's very interesting. I'm an EEG hobbyist and find the potential for producing music from EEG very interesting, I didn't know it had therapeutic potential.
The professional background required to provide it is also very different. For instance, I have a doctorate, two postdocs, and various certifications in psychology and neuroscienceWe do a psychological evaluation and design psych/neuropsych treatment that is tailored to each person. Hope that helps you understand the difference, and thanks for asking the question!
BRAIN music therapy is very different than traditional music therapy. Brain Music Therapy converts the actual EEG "music" your brain is making while it is relaxing and converts it to auditory frequency so you can hear how your own brain "sounds" as it relaxes. Research from different Universities in Europe and Canada has shown that it is equivalent to Ambien in helping you get to sleep, but without the side effects.
Interesting, but I'm not so sure I would call this music therapy. Therapeutic music, yes. But a music therapist is a trained professional with a music therapy degree that uses preferably music along with planned interventions to achieve some goal. I'm not bashing this. It sounds like it could really help people. I just want people to understand the difference.
(Heh) I always felt like certain synth works spoke the language of my brain. Guess this is proof of such a thing being posible. Can't wait to hear what mine sounds like.
Nice to see your work in this field, if you are interested in some binaural beat music or compositions for you work have a listen, we are looking at establishing partnerships for our work and are interested in many possibilities.
Good informative video :) I'm looking into buying one of these systems, wheres the best place to order one?
thanks

Dr Peter, have there been any publications made based on this therapy? I would be very interested in reading them.
