I don't speak portuguese, but my impression is - brasilian music is revolutionary, and music from Portugal is conservatory. It is just an impression of a foreign viewer. Please advise to appreciate both cultures in a right manner
@sar4ermet, how far does your knowledge of portuguese music go? We have revolutionarty music against the imperialist regime we had in Portugal for 50 years. We hgave revolutionary music against the usurpation of the freedom of speech. We have revolutionary music against the stupidity and apathy that takes over us, overfed european slobs. Portuguese music is revolutionary as well. Sergio Godinho, Zeca Afonso, Jorge Palma, Ornatos Violeta, Ena pa 2000. These are some you can listen to.best regards
@cabaretpinguim It's revolutionary, I love zeca afonso... but It's not so chill and smooth like this brazilian jazz, like this bossa nova. do not compare ;)
@cabaretpinguim i don't think he/her was talking about being revolutionary politically wise... but i don't agree with sar4ermet either. The difference, in my opinion, is that brazilian people value much more their music than us portuguese, which gives our music a stagnation in its development and spreading. But there are plenty of names you could point out, of course. I think one could say Fado is like our Bossa-nova... But for truly revolutionary, have a go at Carlos Paredes, can't go wrong.

Amo a Música Brasileira! Amo!

Such a beautiful melody
with beautiful voices
Three times repeated and in fact 3 times different! The phrasing is intriguing. Fantastic artists!
