To MrDagwoodbumstead: if Gene Vincent isn't Rockabilly, why is it the Rockabilly Hall of Fame website has a big ol' link to their Gene Vincent tribute page?
@nellieorilla because rockabillies cant tell the difference between rock n roll and whatever. Was a ted in the 70's when rockabillies were getin there feet on the ground spent there time in rock and roll clubs and danced to the music they liked gene didnt sing country rock so not rockabilly
Sorry that is not Grady Owen on bass, Grady was considerably older, had dark hair, and was living in Nashville doing session work at the time. Just check out any of his uploaded videos on youtube it is not him.
I have been playing music for years. I remember playing this song with Leonard Harmon and Mike Jennings. I never loved music any more than when I was 16. Oh, the memories.
Johnny Meeks! Of all the rockabilly side men such as Cliff Gallop, Grady Martin, Scotty Moore etc. He was the best performer and maybe the best player of them all.
FYI: Gene Vincent had six (6)different sets of Blue Caps from the start at Bradley's studio (in Nashville and the first rnroll session ever handled there!) in April 1956 to mid-November 1958. Lead gtrs was: Cliff Gallup, Johnny Meeks, Howard Reed in those sets. The first drummer was Dickie Harrel (yep, that's the guy who shouts in Be-bop-a-lula)who was only 15 yrs old! Gene lived such a hard life that Jonny Rotten seem like a choir boy. G died died of bleeding ulcer at age 36 in 1971.
Does anyone have guitar tabs for this song? I've been lookin and can't find any. I like that first little intro riff. It reminds me of like a circus tune.
got to dance to this shit in school... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUu-
