  • Over this decade NASA will be cut to shreds by budget cuts. NASA will most likely never do something like this again.

  • @SlightyDisturbedNBK I disagree...Romney will cut the budget, but NASA will be back on track....

  • @SlightyDisturbedNBK Then vote newt. He is the only candidate who wants to revive the funding of NASA, or so he says.

  • @Savage7046 Newt? That bag of slime!? He will say anything to get a vote. So will any of them.

  • @SlightyDisturbedNBK Which is why i said "or so he says". But think, how many votes will he get by saying to fund NASA, how many Americans actually know what NASA is doing anymore. And with every other candidate saying that NASA is unnecessary spending he is probably losing more votes than he is getting by supporting NASA funding. So, unless he actually intends on following through with it he is losing votes on purpose.

  • if we never had all these wars and political / religious differences i think we were now in a new space age

  • shit this is interesting and all but I think we need to get our people back into space, and get them exploring the solar system, to hell with this earth orbit shit like the space station, we should start using the space station as a starting point for sending men to the moon again for starters, then from there maybe Mars.

  • @StevoElsupremo

if only i was old enough to have my own money , I'd have made SO many advances to the human race , I've got so many benefit-full ideas and im only 13.

  • @TiroTiro2000 same here, 13 but bursting with ideas, if you can set a goal at this young age, your future is ensured.

  • @TiroTiro2000 work on how to sell them. focus on rhetoric. seriously, do that and you might be listened to. but never give yourself to egotism or your life's thesis will drown.

  • learning about the universe is more important than fighting

  • Out in space, There's no day, there's no night, There's no up, there's no down, There's no East, there's no West There's no North, there's no South, Useless muscles, useless bones, No gravitation, no orientation, Floating out there on Ur own, Here on Earth, there R seasons, Atop the foodchain, we have reasons, 2 believe there's better ways, Than senseles killings 2 keep control of the population growth, Time is near, 2 extend way beyond this earth, Mars in sight, we should take no sides.
  • well we spent 500 years in the dark ages because of someone i wont mention that doesn't exist so i can only hope we catch up

  • Anyone else notice the BBC's bias against Americans and NASA? Not until 3:20 do we hear an American accent, the Voyager probe isn't even identified as American, and no mention of the word NASA until 3:35. Guess America funding and leading the world's exploration of the solar system doesn't fit with your inherent anti-American bias.

  • @BloodofPatriots well not to many people over here in GREAT Britain like Americans and just to say, anything in space is the proberty of humanity not NASA

  • If u think math is the most important subject ur wrong, SCIENCE CREATES EVERYTHING INCLUDING MATH!

  • I AGREE! Science is what mankind should live for, not to ignore. I don't know how so many people find this boring or unimportant. This mission had me stunned! I remember it like it was yesterday! I was so happy! I was on my computer, waiting, and then when the pictures showed up, I was stunned! I was amazed that such a small but complex craft traveled a billion miles away through a wide open void, and through such chaos, and survived, and then bringing us so many new answers! SO INCREDIBLE!! =D

  • technology should be fully funded.

  • I am glad left brain living is about done.

  • @calypsocoffee I´d done the same :D

  • @calypsocoffee give respect to your boyfriend from me :DD

  • Wow.

  • 400 million pound ... thats the weight of the earth!!!

  • 2:15 Death Star lol

  • 400,000,000 Pound? Im assuming that value was in currency and not weight. lol

  • You fucking retards...this probe was sent by E.S.A. = EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY...NOT N.A.S.A...IDIOTS

  • @Mare1Voievod You are right the Huygen was an ESA probe BUT it was launch with the Cassini probe that was a NASA probe so it a was a joint mission

  • I wish we would send one to Gliese 581D

  • @DanBrino I'm sure they would If It wouldn't take 100 years to get there lol, but I agree.

  • @NCAstronut It had a heat shield for braking in Titan's atmosphere and then three parachutes. They were packed 9 years before Huygens got to Titan. Everything functioned perfectly!

  • Stop these gotdamn wars. Exploring space is far more interesting than murdering arabs. And less expensive to boot !

Where is the damn logic in modern globalized society? Oh . . I know where it is:

    It doesn't fucking exist !

  • fuck nasa

  • How many mistakes can you find in this text: "Following on from the first pictures ever received of Saturn's moons, a probe is sent out to Titan to get a better picture. Fascinating space film from BBC Worldwide." First pictures of Saturn were drawn by Galilei 400 years ago, Voyager 1 took pictures many years ago, Cassini took hundreds of pictures of moons... Then Huyghens ("a probe") is sent in to take thousands of pictures (NOT "a better picture"). And it is not a "space film"!

  • @BjornPalmen

BBC's film, is a film or documentary about the photos.

The photo's them selves are not a film.

  • 400 million

WTF that much for a piece of hunk

  • @indirulz1234

Knowledge is priceless. Especially now when global warming may be threatening we should support he scientists and experts on planetary weather, as the Earth is a planet too. 400 M is VERY CHEAP for actually LANDING on Saturn's moon Titan.

  • @NCAstronut

400 Million Pound as in British Pounds. At todays exchange rate of 1.45 that would be about $580 million US Dollars.

  • HACK INTO NASA AND FOR THE FIRST PICTURE OF TITAN........WILL BE ME MOONING THEM...LOL

  • in 2012 the world is going to change....its going to change for the better....we will not longer see countries....but we will recognize that the true aryian race is not american,german,indian,....but all the races in one and will be recognized as a human race........we will no longer be american,african,asian,....we will be earthlings

or just Nazis from Antarctica are going to invade and take over the world :D

    SIEG HEIL!!!!!

  • @Duvalinson63 one world goverment has its down sides trust me

  • Its not NASA's probe It's Europa's probe made in ESA (Europa Space Agency)

  • I plan to go to Titan when I retire.

  • show us a picture of teh place its not an actual picture its only them talking about it...

  • @Xzandon Demonize America, it's plenty popular nowadays, because overthrowing an evil dictator as bad as Hitler and stopping terrorists is so very evil. It's not like the USA sent the probe to Titan in the first place, or anything.

  • Thank you NASA, you are helping humanity take it's baby steps into space.

Hopefully they'll develop some efficient way to colonize planets and even travel through solar systems. Maybe not in a generation, maybe not even in two, but some time.

  • @SpartanW98

So as inhumain people like you. :\

    just sayin' ;]

  • 9999999999999999999$ and I go with you to found a colony on Mars

  • huygens weighs 703 pounds

  • @nycrc

I think they were talking about currency.

  • I think space, health care and infastructure should be the focus of all the worlds Countries, hell if we didnt spend so much money on fighting eachother we would have a lot more money for Advancing our own race.

  • funny how in the usa trillions spent on wars that cannot be won but then people hit the roof with protest against tax dollars spent on the health of their friends and family.

a sad world we live in, we need to get our priorities straight

  • Now if THAT ain't the damn truth!!! LOLOLOL!! Bravo!!!

  • Wow someone like me :)

  • @StevoElsupremo So damn true. Imagine if all the money used for military crap is used, for advancing human race. We would be 100s years more advance than we are. And please don't give the crap like those people are defending our country. If there were no military people and fucking politicians there would be no wars. All they are doing is fighting the same folks just on opposite site. Stupid to the bone.

  • @StevoElsupremo YES YES YES!!!

  • 400 million pound!!! why the hell it cost that much

  • space ain't cheap

  • @cyberkid111 Actually oil leaks and wars are not cheap.

  • the true space age is years away its like building a computer 20 years beyond its time. it would cost millions. everything in the probe also has to last a long time without breaking alot of computers would of malfunctioned or gone faulty in 9 years

  • @NitroMaximus

The mission has now lasted 12 years and the probe had to be steered to Venus, Earth and Jupiter to get a trajectory to Saturn.

  • Look ur not telling the whole story LBStudios i dont think u understand all the good comming out of iraq. You're too obsessed with downing Bush and the Republicans and not looking at the important things. Soldiers are dieing for u and ur country and ur obviously just trying to down people not accepting the democratic obama point of view. Im not republican either im liberal so u can say all these things about me being a bias republican but look in the miror and face the REAL bias democrat

  • you sent your comment to the wrong person.. im not lbstudios...

  • There is no bias. Bush and his cronies just didn't do one ouch of good in during his 4 years (and I say 4 because he was never elected for the first 4) so it does not matter if democrats are biased or not. Bush has cost the US more in terms of money, prestige and respect that any other president (dead or alive)

  • My god these video ads are getting annoying. I find it amusing that youtube thinks they can get away with this.

  • i dont think it was 400,000,000Lbs that would be like 200 and more Cruise Ships put together!

  • 400 millions pounds as in 400 £. e.g. the cost of the probe... idiots

  • wow I fell right into that lol I did not look and see it was BBC lol

  • if it can deploy its chute doesn't that mean theres air and a atmosphere?

  • It does have an atmosphere, they mention that. They don't go into it any further, but it's mostly very cold (-178º C) nitrogen (80-90%) and methane mixture and at an atmospheric pressure 60% higher than that of earth. There are even clouds at the poles.

At saturn . jpl . nasa . gov / , the Cassini website, you can find pictures of them.

  • id love to live on titan :D, see the sun as well as many other planets close by,only if we could live on it though lolz

  • at some point we will, first itll be exploration and colonization for that purpose, then titan would terraform somehow and we'd all be shipped over.

  • Well, I hope you realize that Titan is a moon of Saturn which is further from the Sun than Earth. This means that you can't see the Sun close by.

  • I remember watching a video online in 1997 of the launch of Cassini. One of the first things I did online! :)

  • awesome :)

it must've took forever to stream it on a modem :P

  • No streaming then - or not widespread use of it. It was a video of it that I downloaded... it wasn't a very large video either! :) I had a 56.6k Modem. Fast-as back then! :D

  • ah the 56.6k Modem, I do kinda miss the loud noise it made. It's so quite with broadband :P

  • Hahah - gone with the noise of the dot-matrix printer!

  • @DrCarl ah, but be very, very glad you have broadband. dial up/modems are so sllloooooowwwwwwww. I lived in internet hell for 14 years until broadband was FINALLY available... :\

  • I think We( human Race) should start thinking about going far out in the space....

far.....far..... away.... But we haven`t got the technology yet... but i can just wait and see =)

  • can you guys imagine how much further wed be in space exploration if we didnt run off a monetary system?

instead of seeing a planet and asking how much money itd cost to land there wed just do it

    if only

  • Men , IF US would change money spending from wars to space expolration we could land on MArs soon.

  • your right... people love to bitch about nasa 'wasting' a couple hundred million over several years on a probe... yet we spend $350 million per day in iraq... i say give the troops a few days off and let nasa have all the toys they want... if we colonise space or find other planets to live on/harvest for minerals, then we could have all the wars we want, maybe even with another species... or maybe there'd enough resouces to where we didn't have to war or need money... hmmm...

  • I'd like that :D Except the war part of it :/

  • Sorry I'M not living in the USA, but I think they say this since of ,,great prestige" war with the Sovietunio (comonly known as the Spacerace). Why prestige war after the Sovietunio collapse there weren't any oponent to defeat. After of that the NASA budget was cutted almost instantly and converted to the weapon section and this how was invented the stealt flight technology. Please don't think I want to hurt anyone, but all what I know show this.

  • But with in this situation are stil hope, because the worlds space scientist compensate this.

By the way the USA also can thanks some things about this. The Apollo rockets was designed the same Von Braun, who invent the V1 and V2. The Mars walker (?) probe was designed from the Soviet Lunakhod. With this gesture the USA and USSR scientist also work togather. So don't fraid with this international cooperation we have a great chance to find marvelous things.

  • And here I thought only narrow minded people were left on this world. Thank you for clearing that up, that the Military Budget is by far higher than the NASA's one.

Can't wait for all the discoveries

  • @survival12345 We have the technology, the ability, and the resources to live in a abundance of all the necessities of life. We could feed, cloth, and provide well being to all the worlds people. But the problem is, Social progress and human well being is always second to monetary gain. Efficiency, abundance, and sustainability are enemies of our economic structure for they are inverse to the mechanics required to perpetuate consumption.

  • @survival12345 BUT ITS STOPING THE GENOCIDE.....DO YOU REALLY WANT PEOPLE DIEING FOR NO REASON

  • @survival12345 actually all americans like to bitch about everything lol

  • @survival12345 well said...

  • @survival12345 lol We just colonize and find some one or some thing new to fight with it

  • classic human thought. conquer colonize and "create and define resources". We won't get anywhere with that thought we'll probably kill ourself before it were to happen. I mean if other species know we exist why would they wan't to meet us physically? We are practically useless and are becoming unconnected with meaning and spirituality. Something I believe our ancestors knew much more about. I mean they also were the very first astronomers.

  • @mikesdjftr true.. i was speaking in irony, mocking 'normal' human thought, and the way we treat each other and this planet... our 'ancestors' definately had more knowledge than we are told... and the proof is in front of our eyes, ie; Puma Punku, the Great Pyramids, Nazca, Dropa, Dogons etc etc... there are structures on this planet, with alignments, giant blocks, that can not be recreated, or even explained,..... and yet, no one seems to care... sad indeed..

  • @survival12345 Fortunately, there are people that care. With so much knowledge the human race has created, so much of it goes unnoticed as you've mentioned, i just wish that the people that were too ignorant to this give the people that care the opportunities to explore the knowledge left behind. It seems as though the average human isn't capable of caring for information.

  • @survival12345 agreed i am a military recruit personally but i think the pursuit of science to be far more important

  • @survival12345 US $1.5 billion per B2 stealth bomber, $15 billion for each new Gerald Ford class aircraft carrier. Another thing people don't understand is the huge number of sub-projects, products, careers etc. that are created from each space mission.

  • @survival12345 YES! Bravo!

  • yeah... thats what i expected from 400 mil pound satelite

  • WOW some people are still love me XD

  • At 2:17 it looks like they had discovered the bloody Deathstar!!! Myabe we should send in Lonestarrrrrrr!! Sorry i couldn't help it!

  • you fool it is scheduled to land on Titan & titan only... it took 14 years just to build it & send it to Titan.

  • That is pretty far away. We could use the orion project to get a closer look! Granted everyone hates that idea because it uses nukes for something other than making fireworks that radiate places and also kill people.

  • saturn's moon titan

  • delapandewa how can you be so thick

  • everything about science needs to be proven, right?

  • uhh sirs, hi..Titan is 301 degrees below zero.. you would freeze solid sirs and I hate that..

  • Ehem...273,5 is the lowest temperature possible.

  • Think about it, if it is posible to live on Titan, We can end over population and as a bonus, food for everyone on the Earth-and Titan.

Answer : You can't. Living on Titan's equivalent to living in a Heated Gas Chamber void of Oxygen... Titan could however solve our energy crisis, since it holds a Planetary wide thick atmosphere of Methane and probably other useful Gases.

  • it would take 7 years to get there i mean come on it would be alot eaiser to just find new fuels instead and don't forget cow crap.

  • disable capslock, will you?

  • You are so dumb I don't even know where to start.

  • you don't have to start with anything (I don't even care)

I will believe the Titan is real if human could land, breathe, live easily on it, before that happen I still stay in my previous post :)

  • Let's do a thought experiment. What if I said there were such things as poisonous BIRDS, would you believe me? Even if, in fact, neither one of us would ever get the chance to see the birds in person, nor meet anyone who has? What if all we had to go on were hearsay, sketches or a CGI rendition of them? Does this mean the birds don't exist? And could you protect yourself from your own disbelief, in the off chance you landed unknowingly in the birds' habitat without a flashlight?

  • wow you're such an ignorant jerk.... dddamm you .... you are the kind of people for which still now we have people thinking that moon is made out of cheese.....or earth is standing on a Tortoise....lol...who knows may be you wil start saying these are true lololxxxx

  • dela, did you ever hear about CGI's?

  • Now i rly want to die Lol

  • maybe a pices of earth

  • hmmm.... There is a God why ignorant people say there is no GOD oh yeah the dumb theory that the planets came from an explosion :l oh yeah and what a coinsidence earth is in the perfect place for life. Think about it and dont be an ignorant :l THERE IS A GOD!

  • I'm going to argue about it, but really what I think is that if there is NO higher being then with the big bang theory how did the little tiny spec of SUPER condensed matter got there if there was nothing.

  • why would u look into the past to find the future? the past is over. why don't u work on the present to make the future like all these great scientists. don't let religion blind you. religion is there to guide you, not to herd you like mindless sheep.

  • What has religion accomplished in the past 1000 years? NOTHING! What has Science accomplished? Everything, the computer you know type on to make your pathetic religious loving comments. God doesn't exist, simple as! There is no evidence to support God but the evidence is there to support science! Yes religion guides people, suicide bombings, ethnic cleansing etc Yes, religion guides you to be a better person /sarcasm!

  • Only if your comprehension of the modern world at present is severely primitive! Yes let's stone people!

  • que loco che, no entendi un soto lo que dicen los gringos, pero exelente el video

  • one moon looked like death star haha

  • We all know in our mind (not proof) that there is life on other planets. You have to just believe. This universe is huge! Maybe God wants us to be smart, that is why it is hard to find out about life on other planets.

  • And why is your dick as large as Jupiter?

Bye the way, your talking to a 9 year old motherfucker.

  • ahaahhaha this is the power of science! :)

  • WIERD..

  • low probability is a great reason against a god theory. if there was a god there would probably be much more life supporting planets seeing as how you people think he created everything life. the impossible number of probability for life proves that only natural causes created life. not a creator.

  • no, he said he created us only. i thought a more natural universe wud b buzzing with life, makes moRe sense.

  • just because there is not tons of life right now (that we know of) does not mean that there hasent been life in the past 13-15 billion years ago. or in the future...

  • i can't believe we landed on saturns moon, the titanic!

  • It amazes me how "smart" people

    rely on the "magic book"

the dead sea scrolls and the belief of

    a "sky God"

get smart save YOURSELF from ignorance

  • I don't understand why I have to repent for what I said. I see it as rather silly to blindy believe the Church--it was filled with corruption and even sold indulgences during the Medieval Ages (Including Popes). And the Catholic Church did change their view point on at least one issue I can recall....evolution.

  • Great I love science and I am a Christian but I find it rather ignorant to believe everything from it. The Bible was written by man, man naturally sins, thus his agenda was incorporated into it. Anyway, this one step closer to colonizing the galaxy. It will be like Warhammer 40,000.

  • I thank you for this videos...

  • i agree there are some places science shouldnt go, but there are things we humans could never understand, so i do not belive it crazy to believe in something higher than our selves, but youdont have to go around changing people to believe what you want them to, so dont go tring to make people change their beliefs and keep your religion to your self, if you are religious thats great, but if your not, thats great also, so whats the fued about?quit tring to take over each other and just co exist

  • why is science always challenged by religion? if there is some type of intelligent life form, how would we know its even capable of proccessing religion, or for that matter, what if its not even organic? but the fact remains that the future can hold many different things if there was some sorce of life out there, it would take the proper settings if you and millions of years to evolve.

  • Hey to all you atheists out there, does anyone know if any alien life has actually been discovered?

Oh and if they did discover people on gillese 568 or some other planet what would that prove?

  • It would prove that you are disgrace to human kind. And that you are e representative of a lower form of a human evolution that will be discarded as a waste by improoved generations to come. Or in any better casse, you will be left outside of a human society just like other lower lifeform species.

You base your judgement by belief, what proof do you need? Poofs are tools of an advanced humanoid, you don't need them!!!

  • So ill be discarded by society eh? But you will still be a sad fucking twat whom resorts to personal insults and generalisations when someone asks questions you dont like, though saying that though, lets hope you get cancer and die, becuase that will be the end of you :D

  • how, typicall?

I'm not sad for myself, i'm sad for you. i liked your question, but i didn't like your atitude. there is no other lifeform like ours nowhere in the universe. we have to accept it. my belief is that god exists and that it can be proved by science. but that god that doesn't fit in any religious visions developet by humans up to this day.

  • And yes, i can promise you that he will keep from you everything valuable forever, but there will be no heaven and no hell since you will not come to him complete, instead you will become a tiny part of his completeness...and you your self will be able te feel the infinite joy of your completeness as a part of him all.

  • I will indeed pray for you specialy in the future for you have shown an uncanny behavior... God PLEASE help these non believers see what the futur holds for those who do not believe...Amen

  • they'rs no fucking god that's just shit that they made up

  • haha shut uop

  • i am so gonna buy a house on that moon lol

  • I was not making fun of anyone,

    just stating facts.

  • the very first message you were making fun of somebody ending with a "HaHaHa"

  • what do christans have to say now??????

    HaHaHa.

  • That anyone so ignorant on the Bible's teachings should not stick out his/her tounge so as the wise can slap it back... if there was life out there the Bible would say so, for it contains all answers...

  • Well if they do find life out there,

what does the bible havt to say now?

It will just be re-written for like

the 400th time to include that, you are

    full of shit.

  • @nogoodones The ancient scribes did not even know that the Earth is a globe, so how could their texts contain "all answers"...

  • @BjornPalmen The writers of the Bible were inspired to write what they did because it was God's will. God would have told them to write about it if was true, in my opinion

  • @nogoodones What do you mean "if was true"?

Surely it is true that the Earth is a globe.

  • @BjornPalmen My original comment was in reference to another individual talking about extraterrestrial life forms. So when I said, "God would have told them to write about it if was true, in my opinion." I was talking about extraterrestrial life forms not your reference to the World being a sphere. No one in our day and age can in their sane mind denounce the spherical nature of the Earth.

  • @nogoodones

God never told the writers of the Bible that they lived on a globe, circling a star in space. So it is extremely unlikely that He would have told them anything about extraterrestrial life forms, as the word Terra did not exist.

  • if you think it's funny to make jokes about people's religion, then your stupid. get a life and stop making fun of others who truly believe in something.
