Waiting for someone to post from mcduff's album with benson....?? can't remember, but great album...now in norway, that cd's on the other side (the dark side sic..aus!)...great post! just caught defrancesco here in bergen...
chuckle....i played this for my 86 year old mom when she was in my car....that 'ol lady holla'd YEAAAH, swayed back & forth, popping her fingers all the way to Publix !!!
I saw brother Jack Mcduff in 1967 at the jazz workshop in San Francisco for my 21'st birthday. Talked to him and Joe Dukes great guys and a bad ass performance
It don't get no better than this...blues at it very best. That's George Benson on guitar at 19yrs old, Red Holloway on sax and Joe Dukes on drums. I heard this band many times and they always grooved this hard....Jack pack em in everywhere he went. I love him, down to earth GENTLEMEN.......
Plez could u find Brother Jack McDuff - Duffin around I heard the song at a yardbirds concert and loved it and have not been able to find it any where if u do find it plez post it
whoa! REMINDS ME OF THE LIVE JAZZ CLUBS IN THE BAY AREA.I'M 48 NOW BUT I WAS 23 THEN. WEARING ARMANI SUITS,GENUINE GATORS.HAIR LOOKING LIKE BILLY DEE'S.JUST GETTING OFF WORK AS A LADIES SHOE SALESMAN AT NORDSTROMS.HAPPYHOUR SIPPING ON MARTELL AND DANCING SOOO SUAVE TO THAT COOL,FUNKY JAZZ.
This is organ jazz blues with a feelin. Bro Jack is still the funkiest of organists. He had his own style. He always kept a great band. he gave George Benson his debut. Joe Dukes was a class drummer whom I had the pleasure of knowing was a powerhouse...I miss them both...DEARLY....Rest in Peace-both of you.
another excellent LP is "the blues is now" (if you can find it, it's long out of print) I think it's from '63 on VERVE records. Jimmy Witherspoon, Melvin Sparks, Brother Jack McDuff....Check out "sweet slumber" "outskirts of town" and their version of "good rockin tonight" it's a top gun record and I've been hoping for years it will be released on cd. Supposedly VERVE/FORCAST is working with Mickey Hart and archiving/restoring their old catalogue for re-release. Let's pray that happens!!!! THANX
I'm not sure if it's been re-released or not, but you can go to tower records site on the web and look. Often they can search for it if they don't have it, they can get it if it's out there. Do yourself a favor if you find it, get the more expensive one, or preferably a japanese import of it. They make the miniature original paper l.p. cover, and use the original art, as well as a much higher quality remaster. Some are like 64-bit remasters. It's worth it, some remasters sound like crap.
ahhh... Model 6300. Nice!
