  • The music in this game was very odd. It's the only NES game, I'm aware of, to have tried alternating instruments rapidly in the sample channel to essentially 'fake' them playing on the same beat. It doesn't really work at all, which is why some of the percussion sounds all 'herky jerky' and out of time. I don't know why they left the noise channel unused for the music and insisted on trying to wedge like a woodblock and bass drum sound in together. Still some fun and charming music, nonetheless.

  • do you ever run out of air while using the bubble?

  • seen this in a used game store. thought about getting it but wasn't sure. maybe when i have some money. as always people are saying how the wii one is better in the comments. that kinda gets old after awhile. ok maybe the one on wii is a remake this time but usually it is a emulation of the real game and we all know emulation is not as good as real.

  • The first few notes of the intro sound like Indiana Jones.. even the logo looks the same. Hehe.

  • Yeah, I've heard of this one, even before the Wii release. I REALLY want to play it, but I don't really do emulators, so I plan on picking it up soon. Nice video. :)

  • the wii sequel a boy and his blob has an amazing art style

  • Very cool if hard game. I like how you can almost never play the same game twice especially without a walkthrough. David Crane really knows his stuff.

  • I should get this game for my NES :)

  • the remake for the wii looked good

  • What a strange game :D

  • I saw a remake of this for the Wii about a year or so ago.

    It looks amazing.

  • A Boy and His Albino Testicle?

  • Eskilliam did a Wii vs NES review of this a few months ago.

  • Rented this game several times when I was a kid. It's a great game, but I never could figure it out. I think you need a walk through for this game.

  • Great review Jake! this looks like an interesting game, Ill have to keep my eye out for it :)

  • Does the MN in your name mean you live in Minnesota?

  • @LuigiKat11 No he is from Canada.

  • good review as always- i just couldn't get into this game and can't today

  • i liked that intro song bit is there a longer version of it?

  • David Crane also did Ghostbusters.

I bought this game at the Gibraltar Trade Center in Michigan last year! Very innovative and underrated game.

  • cool. sweet review. I have this one but never played it.

  • @Captain85Kurt you're a fucking liar

  • @MrMoneyclips: umm ok. how so man. I own nearly 350 games.

  • is the earthworm jim in the dsi shop a port or whole new game?

  • @stewie17 Not sure because I don't have a DSi to check.

  • @MN12BIRD I''m sure it wouldnt be to hard for him to find out on his own... I wonder why his asking you?

  • @stewie17 It's a port with some extras tacked on, such as facial recognition which they probably use during the post stage "groovy" sequences.

  • @stewie17 its a port

  • @stewie17 It's a port from a Genesis game.

  • @stewie17 it's a port

  • cant you use the umbrella for the last part?

  • Yeah they made a remake of this on the Wii they may of but the older stay game on the virtual console console but they remade the game gave it better graphics and made the gameplay better and put it on a disc it is not do well right know it is selling poorly but it is made a lot better then the NES game. I think everything is hand drawn. You should go look for game play of the new disc wii game here on youtube. But it is really a lot of fun on the wii and most people do not know of it.

  • @Bert1268

I totally agree. There is a charm with the Wii version of this game: the whole design of the game can be appreciated as you delve through each new level. the game has cell shaded graphics and the animation is just really well done.

  • rofl i love the look on the blobs face when he dies

  • they remade this game. i didn't know that there was an original.

  • i bought this game CIB for £3 last summer

  • I love this game! I find the music to be so catchy, even if I play this for 5 minutes, I'm still humming the tune days later. Sadly though, I too have never beaten this.

  • Another Awesome Review By Jake!! I owned this game as a kid and cherished it, it took til 2006 for me to beat this game, and the ending wasnt all that great but after playing it a few thousand times it was rewarding still. I noticed that they semi-re-released this on the Wii as a next gen game, I have yet to find it anywhere!

  • The music at the beggining it was something like Indiana Jones theme

I've tried this on an Emulator and thought it was boring, never understood what to do and still kinda don't..

    4:34 - Sad Blob xD

  • I never liked this game....it always seemed too slow paced to me but I never really played past the first level....that's how I am with a lot of games though, if the first level doesn't interest me I usually wont play past that.

  • looks like a nice game id definitely give it a try

  • You can definitely see the Pitfall influence. Well, not influence since David Crane made it, but those caverns definitely remind me of pitfall II.

  • this is a fun game

  • I talked to the composer of this game. He said he used Dr. T KCS on the Atari 1040ST to write the music to his NES games.

  • Wow carnt belive you have got that game. It very rare to get hold of also whats your opinion on the remake of this on wii/

  • I Like Your Intro With The Sega CD Music Better

  • @oheao

i didn't like it. it was too damn long.

  • @oheao aye me too but i guess there is the threat of copyright issues or something
