My favorite part of this scene was, after everything the animals had been through, almost dying, Shadow says as he's running to Peter: "Peter....you're okay!!!" He was worried about Peter the whole time.

just watched this movie and i swear it gets me everytime i see Shadow go over the hill:,) i swear it's the only movie i can cry on when shadow gets stuck gets me and same with the scene when sassy goes down the river...... yet i can't cry during the notebook... this movie brings me back :,)

@Wolfie238 I ran into an old shaggy golden at Petsmart last Saturday. The owner was an old, yet classy delicate lady. I saw the name tag being Shadow. She said her grandchildren, when they were young 'named him that after a movie called Homeward Bound.' She didn't think I'd know the movie. Made her day when I told her my dogs name is Chance and also have a cat named Sassy. She was happy my childhood didn't go anywhere :)

Man, I got a Golden Retriever because of this movie. She died last year at the age of 11 from cancer so this movie/soundtrack hits me seriously hard these days.

Just remembering shadow coming over that hill...well...Peter was pretty lucky.

Truly an unforgettable movie. It reminds us that pets are more than just animals living under our roofs.

@inumanj I am so sorry to hear that. I just lost my dog a year and a half ago. She died at age 15 on move-in day of college. August 30th, 2009. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet, and I think that that is why I am hit so hard by this movie/soundtrack as well.

HERE BOY!!!" and chance comes running. then sassy and hopes like "SASSY!!!" and sassy's like "HOPE HOPE HOPE HOPE HOPE!!" then they waited for shadow to come then he comes... "petter..." "Oh Petter i missed you so much!!!" and it was awesome!

@Mikitane I always cry when Shadow says to Chance, "Now all you have to learn is how to say goodbye." Then I cry again when you see Peter's sadness when Shadow doesn't return, and again (this time from happiness) when he finally appears and says "Peter.." Never fails!
