Did you not rotate the souls as one rotates a car? Reenforce them for a longer-than-normal trek? They weren't designed to go cross country and even if you did bring them cross country, you'd need MANY spare parts. That goes for anything... including Bikes, shoes, etc. But heck, if you run that same distance on the knees, maybe 3000 dollars a surgery each knee is a better investment than an ounce of prevention would pay. What? 300 dollars? spare parts maximum 500 dollars? I'd say 500 is < 6000
@THELDSLIFE :-) I tend to agree with your comments when I compare with my MTB expenses. However I have now ran 2000 miles in Vibram FiveFingers (VFF) Flow Trek cross country and worse without any knee pain. Here the expenses have been 1 pair of Cep All Sports Compression Sleeves; 4 pair of fingersocks; and 2 pairs of VFFs which sums up to approx. 485 USD ;-)
I however keep them indoors. I've had the same pair for over 3 years. Changed 2 springs. I only take them to the store which is about 1/4 miles. Unless someone wanted to run across the USA in the Kangoos to be the first, I wouldn't recommend them for this type of running long distance outdoors.
I used the KJs as I use my MTB - that means off-road running. Based on the comments below I am supposed the treat my KJs as a fragile peace of glass. I gave up after 600 km (Dec2009) because they were totally worn down.
I have now been running 569 km in my Vibram FiveFingers (VFF) KSO Flow without any service or maintenance. When I pass 600 km I will upload a review comparing KJs and VFF :-)
Oya, do clean your KJs especially after you run outdoor. There are metal parts like the rivet under the boot and the buckles. It will rust if you dont clean it.
3 - Your Liner has a cracked surface because the boot is rubbing against your liner. Dont tighten your KJs too much. It should be much looser than the way you tighten your inline skates.
1 - When you run, land in the middle of the sole, not on the toe or heel to maximise the impact reduction and lifespan of your sole. ( I am using sole 8 and have used it for more than 100 hours with no problem) Look into a mirror as you jog on the spot to correct your landing position.
2 - The twin turbo broke because of a mismatch in your weight/strengh and the tension of the T-spring. (which is why the pro model is better for you)
thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds very expensive to maintain !

Hi, a few tips for you.
1 - When you run, land in the middle of the sole, not on the toe or heel to maximise the impact reduction and lifespan of your sole. ( I am using sole 8 and have used it for more than 100 hours with no problem) Look into a mirror as you jog on the spot to correct your landing position.
