i would agree that they are more like humans. Our female Burmese once wee'd in my husbands suitcase as he was packing to go away. She knew that wasn't the order of the day and had to make her protestations known. Gorgeous cats.
i had a blue burmese, best cat i ever had, when he died i was devastated. He was definitely a person and not a cat. They are a great argument for reincarnation. no home should be without one.
@KiteSwift I remember when we lost our 2nd burmese. It was devastating for me, as well as my dad. A year later, we got another burmese cat. He may be cute, but he likes to get into trouble.
Mine's a year and a month old and like a tiger, sometimes acts stupid for no reason, like, when nobody's in the hallway, he just meows until one of us opens the door, and a mighty fierce fighter he is, when I wrestle with him, he gave me 1000 cuts but avoids the arteries.....
Aww... just love it when my cats talk!! I have a very quiet and content Himalayan & a very adventurous, outspoken Bengal. I'd like to get a Burmese. My dr. has 3 and says they are the most lovable kitties out of any breed!! Anyone agree??
@CuddlyFurbie definately agree with that, they absolutely love people and need lot's of attention and cuddles :) i' have 2...looking at getting a bengal in future, they have the most stunning coat's
@moredancelesstalk Our burmese is really sweet and nice.. but only to a select group of people, she tends to dislike strangers for no apprent reason (maybe she is being defensive of us or something :P ), anyone else experienced that with their burmese? :O
@lorenei I personally have never had that problem, but my mom's co-workers do with their burmese cats. Burmese cats are often compared to dogs, and I'm sure you have come across dogs who don't like particular people or very few people at all. This breed of cats is known for their personalities, so I imagine it is probably just your cat's personality. If she is being defensive of you guys, I think that is kinda sweet :)
@moredancelesstalk Haha yeah Isa is definitely very dog-like, she always follows me or my sister around the house and loves playing tag and hide and seek with us xD Although when she gets too into the playing she starts biting our feet, which is really painful! But yeah she is definitely very selective with whom she likes and whom she doesn't :P
@moredancelesstalk Our burmese is really sweet and nice.. but only to a select group of people, she tends to dislike strangers for no apprent reason (maybe she is being defensive of us or something :P ), anyone else experienced that with their burmese? :O
@CuddlyFurbie Absolutely... they're very vocal and extremely smart... and they want to be ON you all the time... I love my Iroh and wouldn't trade him for anything in the world
@CuddlyFurbie They are the best breed! I have a medium haired one named Cocoa, and he is the sweetest thing alive. He has a sister (a runt in his litter) named Dixie, who strangely is another breed (toriseshell). LOL
I've watched this video a million times, your cats are soo cute! My burmese lady cat is very talkative as well, lmao. Her voice is a lot different though - I'll post a video of her meowing when I have material :) I already have some videos of her up, so please check them out if you're interested!
Sounds just like my blue burmese. He carries a piece of rope around the house in his mouth and yowls. He wants us to drag it for him to play. He also makes that sound to call the Siamese, then walks backward dragging the rope so she will chase it.
We have had Burmese cat for 24hr's, she is six years old . Last night she meowed all night..... we weren't able to sleep!! Don't know what's going to happen tonight. However, she is extremely affectionate.
We lost all 12 of our beautiful Burmese when someone burned our home down in April. I can't imagine having any other breed of cat. Personality and they can be very vocal. However, ours were always quiet at night when we slept. They talk when they want something you have or are fixing their dinner. As soon as we get resettled, we'll have Burmese in our home again. We'll going home to Hawaii with our Aussie Hannah, who also got out with us. Then we'll get at least 2 Burmese from Australia.
They vocalize at a lower register than Siamese. Very cute and lovable cats. If I owned one, I just hope it would be quiet as I slept, otherwise, when I play with cats I like to hear them make funny noises. My wife and I love kitties.
heh heh, you must of been holding a plate of food for them to act like that !! They are really gorgeous burmese. I've got two, a brother and sister, a red point and a torte point. Little buggers.
cute cats!! I love burmese they are soooooo friendly. Its weird though our blue burmese never meows except she might let out a tiny little really high pitched one when we are feeding her dinner.
do you happen to take care of these cats in FL? cause i think they are mine. i know my boys love to beg others for food all the time b/c they don't eat the food i give them! lol george is my vocal one and ira is my sable (black)
they are brothers. i named them after George and Ira gershwin (wrote many great songs together). I try v. hard to get them to wear collars... but it never lasts long.
They aren't actually my cats, they are cats I often get to look after, they are both castrated males, the lighter one is called Amber and the darker one is called Cosmos. Cosmos is very much shy compared to the noisy boy, Amber.
i love your video, so fab! i have a chocolate burmese myself looks a lot like yours! they are so vocal and their meows are so different to other breeds, what are your cats called? mine is called storm! i am so inlove with my burmese, he acts just like a baby which is a burmese trait, also they fetch if you throw something and then retrieve it!!!
