Obviously, Jolene attempts to use extremely simple language that anybody who hasn't gotten past the fifth grade would understand. I don't think that "juxtaposition" is in any fifth grader's vocabulary list. The entire point of this video is to relay art to the common masses. However, Jolene is a white man in the system of racism white supremacy and is therefore readily accepted amongst most white circles with little difficulty.
Furthermore, if black artists aren't appealing to the white people who run art institutions and other white artists, they will be ostrasized and will not have a wide, mainstream dissemination of their art. For black artists, whoever lends the most poetry to the hegemony of white supremacy wins. That's what Brandon Hill is doing for John Singer Sargeant even though Sargent was so obviously a white supremacist.
Why is the black guy using large words like "juxtaposition" and struggling to speak upwards to talk to a self-proclaimed white trash diva who is obviously not that alienated from the larger white society of power and influence that she is able to easily have access to equipment and crew in order to do a television program at a very prestigious art gallery?
You're intelligent enough to know what I said in that sentence. I find it interesting that you would rather skirt the issue with an elementary school grammar lesson than deal with the real and serious issue I raised.
Actually, run ons make a sentence fairly hard to understand. I had to reread this a few times before fully understanding this "issue" that your trying to bring up. Only...I'm not seeing the issue here.
To me, it sounds like your saying that most white people are trailer trash and that black people shouldn't be able to say words like "Juxtaposition". I may be wrong about what your trying to say; but you should really work on that grammar. The run on makes it pretty difficult to read.
Hey Jolene, I'm a new subscriber but long time watcher. I too want to know the artist from 4:15, question from NLyteNmE. That persons artwork was very POWERFUL! Makes you really look at it and analyze what the artist is trying to convey. If you know who it is, I would LOVE to know. Thanks a bunch.
This is what domination looks like. When "white trash" are more readily accepted by elite white circles of high art over highly credentialed and well-dressed black people.
Hey Jolene, you are so amazing, please don't stop. A la Sister Wendy, I am jonesing to see more of you and the incredible art you are covering. This is so inspiring. Love from Santa Fe, New Mexico
Hmm, most of my CDs, I burn myself from the original copies, sort of mix cds...
I'm real bad about CDs, and they get scratched...
But, I looked, and there are two real ones up there, and they happen to be Kate Bush and the other is a compilation CD of Christian Clean Comedians that features my friend Kerri Pomarolli..
Sorry to post twice, but Mr. Hill is wildly talented and SO polite! In the inital runthrough of the pieces, the Boy at the Beach stood out easily as a personal fave so I was surprised when it was one of his! Amazing talent!

I don't really see why a video like this has to raise an issue to begin with. It's just informing us about an art show.
