And if you swap hands on the gun, then you don't need to show your whole body before you can shoot, but the gun - sorry, AEG - will be on your left side in this case. So it won't be still blocked by the corner while half of your body's already shown. But it's next level :) And this is a good video to demonstrate slicing technique :)
@bf2lover42 It could only (partially) work in close quarters (stealth?). But you are right; it will not work for the majority of first person games. Third person...maybe...
@mrMTronny If you slice the pie you have a chance of shooting back as soon you are seen, if you use a mirror your position is betrayed without even having a chance to sight in the enemy.
Also, glass + BBs flying? Good luck pulling the shards out of your face!
@TheLonelyLeper gameplay was outdated? Excuse me, but pointing and shooting has been around for decades. The fact that HL2 has unique environment only makes it shine. Graphics? You actually give a fuck about how the game looks like?
I will never play Assassin's Creed because I have been spoiled by Hitman and Prince of Persia. Those games did assassination and parkour + sword-fighting right. Don't give a damn about old graphics, no assassination in AC is more fulfilling than in Hitman.
imagine how long that would take u in a huge cqb area. first off. learn to switch to your left shoulder or "reaction" shoulder, lean left, and take steps to the left as your slicing
@flum91 I'm glad you know more than every other airsofter and Magpul Dynamics. You should probably make a best selling series of DVDs to show off how knowledgeable you are.
@flum91 Oh ok, since you obviously have certified training you should do like I said and start your own series of training DVDs. Since you're so awesome you should make millions.
@flum91 I can't answer for him...but, having read your posts, *I* would criticise you for:
1. Calling a viable technique flawed. Slizing the pie is used by pretty much every urban terrain combat unit, military or police, out there.
2. Stating that you know better than these trained professionals.
3. Trying to look like a trained professional. While I'm trying not to jump to conclusions, your grasp of english suggests 'not out school yet' rather than 'Foreign National'.
@flum91 Yeah, well, since you stated emphatically that your way was the only way to do it, and all other ways were wrong, I'd say you're the condecending one. I have to say that I don't think the dutch do things THAT much diffrently than the rest of the world? And even if so, your way isn't the ONLY way, or even the BEST way, necessarily. Something to keep in mind.
As for trained professionals...would you call much of the worlds military and para-military forces this?
This is a pretty good guide on slicing the pie, but I would offer one point of advice for real steel in counter to RWTV, that being that you shouldn't hug a wall, period. Drywall doesn't stop bullets, and hugging a wall is a false sense of security. Walk in the middle both to give you distance when you come up to slice that pie, and to give you agility if you meet a threat coming down the hall.
I personally disagree with this as you dont have any cover when you get around i personally approach the corner like him then lower the rifle downwards lining myself up with the end of the corner then in one fluid motion cut the corner and raise my rifle only showing my head and part of body leaning around it giving me cover and surprise and making me a small target some dont like my method cause your gun is down until you raise it to cut the corner
again with this slicing pie bs..you pie windows when crossing..on a hallway you never want to get sucked into the wall..you want to use a method known as off cover..this way when you reach close to the end you already have a 45 degree angle on the hallway..then you combat glide around it..or pop the corner by either dropping to a knee or running the rabbit
@TheLonelyLeper Too old? This is why we can't have nice things...
I don't know if you even deserve the privilege of playing videogames if you judge them by their age. Beyond Good & Evil, Psychonauts, Thief, Soul Reaver, Rome Total War are games that shouldn't be played because they are "old"?
@sand0609 If you cant be ambi with your tool, don't even bother. Just use the stance you are most comfortable. If you can't be 100% capable it's going to come back and bite you in the ass.
@bf2lover42 hmm i suppose never had a problem switching but your right in that some people may not be comfortable switching the weapon or may have problems while being in the switched position
@sand0609 I assume you have a dominant eye. Can you look trough the iron sights with both eyes open when you are using your weak eye? Can you secure your replica tightly to ensure accurate fire?
At least you don't have issues like controlling recoil in airsoft.
@bf2lover42 usually its point and shoot when moving with me its easier with an aiming device i do not usually use the iron sights just looking along the length of the gun, but definely agree about recoil have not practised shooting from the other shoulder with a real firearm never really needed to haha
@TheLonelyLeper It doesn't work because of how people camp or rush areas. There is a whole different style of play in that game. Now Swat4, you can do something like this. You can even lean in that game and if your hit, you can't move as fast, limp, or even lose a lot of accuracy because of damaged arms. There is also a mirror weapon to check rooms with doors and corners.
I carry a knife, some gum and a mirror with me... That and I just pop out of the corner with my gun ready and fire wildly without a care in the world. But thanks for showing me a much better technique.
this strategy would work but its far too slow its better to lower your gun a little to get closer to the corner then pull it up as you quickly pivot around the corner it covers more than enough area to see where any enemys are while you move quickly
@Hynes1404 this is called libanon clearing and will get you kicked off the course in most games in Sweden. It is an unsafe practice since you aren't in controll of what you are shooting at. LOTS of damages has been done by inexperience players doing this and shooting fullauto into someone 1 foot infront of them.
@Hynes1404 Like kerberosa623 stated, if you do this at any field in New Zealand you'll probably be banned. It's a pretty noob move to blind fire around a corner.
@TheHenitalGerpes Hahaha! sorry. hard in New Zealand also means your a tough guy. like a person throws a rock at you but it doesnt hurt you because your a hard guy (tough guy).
I'm gonna say this is great advice... but what I do is just switch shoulder and move the gun and the side of my face closest to the corner, and then peek around, zap everyone in the corridor/area. you're a tiny target, especially if you just move your upper body. none of this "slicing the pie" nonsense.
OR...OR...I could just use a small mirror to look around the corner.

So, why didnt you switch your weapon to your left side in order to maintain a smaller target?
By keeping it on your right you are displaying more of a target to the enemy.

@Reppyboyo
If you're not a lefty it can compromise your accuracy and response time... Better being an alive bigger target, than a small dead one.

I will use this for playing FPSes.
dimmddr1 6 months ago
@dimmddr1 wont work.
You don't have peripheral vision.
If you are too slow, you get killed.
Using tactics will delay your reaction time.
While you use tactics you give the other team a chance to flank you and complete their objective.
Campers will get you anyway.

you suck at CQB. if u take corners like this, you die.
One fundemental rule in CQB is; wall, person, gun.
This way you always have cover from the wall if you go around corners.
