if your subject faces directly into the sun, then they will squint and the sun being higher than the subjects head most of the time will cast a shadow under their eyes YUCK! Why not shoot more into the sun and add some flash, the sun adds a nice hair light and gets ride of the squint. Just my thoughts

that is not helpful at all. They say "keep the sun at your back" and show only pictures that are shot directly into the sun (using flashes or bouncers). What use is such "information"?
