  • This is such a gorgeous theme to build on. It's so simple and delicate but full of complexity, if he wants to develop it ...which he obviously did. The world needs more Brahms. The 1st and 2nd clarinet sonatas were his final chamber works. This was in his head. It feels like we knew each other.

  • Very beautiful! I like the quality of your sound. Congratulations! from Venezuela

  • beautifull interpretation!! congrats. from portugal

  • This was wonderful and the pianist is fantastic as well!

  • i think you could take it a bit slower

  • That was beautiful, I'm working on this now and it is by far my favorite movement, I really love your tone quality and the expression, you can tell that you really love the music.

  • @claridandb: abrsh1 clearly has no clue what he's talking about. first comment: i wanna hear him play it better. second comment: if he actually knew a thing about music history and clarinets he'd know that especially brahms is played withOUT vibrato (german composer - german playing style). besides: vibrato on the clarinet kind of sounds gay in most cases ^^.

  • Good job

    Still well !!!!!.... XD

  • =)) Thankssssss

  • I'd like to recommend the recent recording by Martin Frost on BIS.

  • Stop bullshitting people, and just listen to the music. If you like it, you like it. If you don't, you don't. Which ever way, it doesn't mean you have to criticise what she is doing. And half of you haven't even got videos of yourselves playing on youtube :)

  • :))

  • I think vibrato is good if used sparingly, constant vibrato is a bad idea. Vibrato is an effect, not an entire way of playing.

  • yes i absolutely agree with you!

  • Vibrato is good on these Sonatas (Nos 1 and 2). When Brahms wrote these Sonatas, he wrote them for Richard Mühlfeld in 1894. He wrote them because he was driven and compelled by his playing. Mühlfeld used vibrato in his playing of this, the way it was meant to be played. Get off the idea of vibrato, and get used to it. Too many people today criticize the use of vibrato on a clarinet in regards to classical pieces. People should learn to accept it and even develop the idea as musicianship.

  • Hey.. This is your idea! I don't want to learn to you. Because I played Sabine Meyer, Reiner Wehle, Chen Halevi, Vlad Weverbergh..... And they didn't tell me about use vibrato. They liked my sound and my ability.

I'm respecting your idea, but I don't want to use vibrato. Ok?!

And now, I think Brahms Sonata can be playing without vibratos. It's about choise. It's my and my teachers choise.

And I know Brahms life and Sonatas stories..

Let me do my job Ok?!

    Thanks!

  • Vibrato>?????? No! Don't use vibrato!

  • absolutely i don't want to use vibrato.. it's my opinion too. a. carbonare, paul meyer, sabine meyer didn't use vibrato when they played brahms! and i didn't like vibrato on clarinet..

  • also, your four space Eb (Db concert) is HORRIBLY HORRIBLY sharp, this is a highly typical mistake, you need to fix this.

  • abrsh1, whats your problem. Usually only jealous people lash out at other people. Why don't you post your version of Brahms Sonata Nr1 instead of bashing hers. Typical American ego! Even if your high and mighty version is better, I'll still prefer Sertesen's version due to personal character alone.

  • Thank you so much for your kind comment about me and my playing..

    Lots of Love from Istanbul..

  • why do you have to breath so much? why no vibrato? You can't play any of the Brahms pieces correctly without vibrato (read any of the commentary about Muhfeld's playing).

  • you play like an angel singing..these were the last published pieces by the master..after the opus 119 piano pieces...what a miracle

  • Thank you so much for your kind comment my friend.. When I start to play Brahms I can't hold my tears. Brahms's music really miracle..

  • :-) Your performances of the last three movements have been really helpful as I am trying to learn this piece right now! This particular sonata was a little surprising to me when I started working on it because on paper it doesn't look to terrible compared to, say, Weber or Nielsen, but once I started serious work on it I found it much more difficult (but ultimatly more rewarding) because of the musicality required to play it.

  • Thanks me dear. If I could help you.. (sorry for my broke english..) And now I started, Nielsen. That concerto need just stacc. and finger ability. Brahms's music more differet than the other composers. Musicality really important.. I had little bit mistakes about Brahms but not so important. If you try to feel Brahms's voice, Brahms'll show the right way to you. Just thinking about that. ;)

  • Your English is just fine, and your playing is magnificent. Wonderful tone, and played with feeling. Bravo!

  • Wow!! Your tone is so clear!!! I see you've posted movements 2, 3, and 4... will you post the first mvmt please???

  • Thanks for your kind comment dear. I tried to post but i couldn't. Because that mov. more longer than the other movments. It's up to 100mb. Sorry about it.

  • Thanks my dear friend :)

  • you sound so wonderful! I love your tone and it sounds so musical <3 keep it up!!

  • Thanks again.... :)

  • It's perfect again......... Keep it on!!
