geeze, that fifth string is clear. what strings are you using? are they new? and whats your amp setup? thanks. im looking into getting a nice bass for metal, cuz right now i only have one to use for when i play jazz at school and death metal in my free time. which sucks. cuz you cant really play jazz on a bass set up for really technical metal stuff.
@Boprobe these were just the strings that came on the bass. i believe it was a 125 or 130 gauge. my amps etup was pretty standard. a decent amount of drive with a slightly scopped sound. spectors have a lot of low end anyway
nice man but i i have a spector rebop 4 and i personally prefer the wooden look but i understand that you are a metal bassist and you probably like black instruments more im a fan of indie rock myself so :D but nice anyways
I owned a Dean Edge 10X 10-string (5-string w/ Octaves) and while it was a nice bass for the price and a good deal, it was *nowhere* close to being in the same league as a Euro-made Spector. Even the lower-priced Korean-made Spectors are a better value than the equivalent Deans, having played a great deal of both.
agreed, agreed. I have an old Spector NS-2A, Korean neck-through that I got used for 500 backin 94' or so. I did switch out the pickups, first to EMG's years ago, and recently to Seymour-Duncan Basslines.
Very nice, both in playing and in tone! I've got 3 ReBops myself (a 4-string EX Zebrawood & 5-string FM fretted and fretless) and believe they're absolutely "hidden treasures" on the market.... especial when buying used or if you purchased before the price increase a few years ago, which I did. I'd like to pick up a USA Bolt-On, but honestly don't think it would be a huge jump in quality seeing how nice my ReBops are.
I played this model at Sam Ash today - sounded great! Hopefully will add it to my arsenal soon >:)

I am a new bassist and really want to learn to play grindcore and deathmetal, is it worth getting a 6 string or is it ok to get a 5
ApexSkate 1 year ago
@ApexSkate 5 strings always work fine. 6 is just one higher string ... you dont necessarily need it for either grind or death

I love the sound quality! And the tone is great? How much did it cost? I'm looking for a new bass, and I'll be keeping that one in mind.
