  • HIPNOTIZZ

  • watch the metronomes, you are feeling sleepy, you are falling into a deap uncontrolable comma

  • TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK TUK

  • how did i got here from modal logic and systems theory under determinism?

  • Interesting. Can anyone explain why it happens. Injection locking can be used RF and is the principle used behind homodyne receivers and I think in super regenerative receivers.

  • @nosnibor800 recall from introductory mechanics that linear oscillators have fixed frequency given by system parameters e.g. for pendulum f = sqrt(g/L). In fact, this is simply a leading order term in an expansion about a small amplitude. In synchronization, nonlinear oscillators adjust their period by changing their amplitude. The non linearity of these metronomes comes from their large amplitude and the drive mechanism which injects energy into the system.

    I hope this explanation helps.

  • @nosnibor800 Excuse my simple mind but.. in standard English please?

  • This is amazing!

  • Explains why most drummers improve on a couple of cans!

  • that is genius , why so many dislikes?

  • комменты недурно доставили

  • mmm, that research article link in the description only takes you to the latest issue of the american journal of physics. anyone got the right link to the paper?

  • Where can i get a metronome and how much does a single one cost. someone please answer

  • @BigCheez8682 uhhh.. i would try a music store..

  • @BigCheez8682 music store, 99$

  • @ssslawek are there some cheaper than that

  • @BigCheez8682 I am sure there are, from $10 to $1000 and more, I paid 99$ 10 years ago for wooden Wittner.

there many kinds, clockwork and electronic ones. those in the video cost probably 29.99 each. Check the ebay.

  • @ssslawek ok, thanks

  • fake AND GAY

  • @shakespeareaholic If you think it's fake, try it yourself. It does work.

  • coupling forces "synchronization", but why synchronization is a more "stable" condition with respect to non synchronization? Not clear at all to me !!

  • Brilliant!

Thank you very much for posting the video!

Exellent explanation for who that want understand what a synchronization is. I'm an electric technician and I compared the metronomes synchronization with AC synchronous machines- the principle is the same.

    Warm regards from Pelotas-Brazil

  • its abed!

  • Stop hacking life

  • strange that was nauseating and i had a headache for 5 seconds afterwards

  • God damn i love stumble upon.

  • Fake. You can tell by the pixels in the left.

  • this is giving me a headache

  • i think the guy is a smelly brown man

  • This is nonlinear entrainment, not synchronization.

  • any1 know God's email? i need to report a glitch.

  • wizardry i say

  • This is not helping me fix my car AT ALL.

  • @dogdove did you try resting it on some cans? Perhaps kegs will work better?

  • that is triiiiiippy!!!!

  • looks like when I practice with my band... sometimes we are together and grooves nice and even?

  • I feel like I've been hypnotized

  • what did i just watch exactly?

  • This is actually a demonstration of how the "damper" (essentially the board) of the different oscillations is transferred between the metronomes, and should perhaps be referred to as Injection Locking.

  • o experimento tem que ser feito de pijama, senão não funciona.

  • that`s nice too.

  • WOW!

  • Британские Ученые

  • this reminds me of soldiers on the first day of marching than got straighten up

  • Охуенно!

  • Гипнотизирует.

  • OK - now the tough question - how would you calculate the time required for the metronomes to synchronize within a given tolerance?

  • luv physics <3

  • супер!

  • desconchatumarizate?

  • We as humans vibrate.. this explains for me how it is possible to resonate with each other when we have a common goal..

  • so gay

  • seth thomas is a fag

  • That is awesome.

  • I liked the bit with the metronomes? Don't take any more of that

  • dude you have to check out the EPIC American Idol contestant Casey Abrams DUBSTEP REMIX, stuff is crazy!

American Idol Casey Abrams EPIC DUBSTEP Remix and Synch HD* by Ember Waves

the song is synched with the contestants audition tape, trippy stuff....

  • OBEY

  • Expect us

  • i liked the bit with the metronomes :)

  • 8 legged freeks

  • whoa ! so amazing !!

  • that is so cool

  • Its interesting to read the comments and the lack of interest and intelligence presented on every sentence. When did the human being started going backwards in mind evolution...pity.

  • I must..obeeyy..@_@

  • 878 people dont know what synchronization is.

  • Pretty cool!

  • It sounds like a horse.

Or someone banging 2 half coconuts together.

  • @MrBarry1024 ...but where would they get coconuts in England? Carried by a European swallow? d;)

  • Im eating a bowl of mac n cheese right now.

  • das is in na schule gemacht worden, die smartboards hat. ;) weil unsere hat die auch und wir haben da auch noch so nebendran so ,,tafeln,, wie der hinter sich ;))

  • It must be magic!

  • Very cool.

  • Is this an example of common relativity mixed with kinetic energy?

  • Did you just have 5 metronomes sitting around or...?

  • Its not the Pendulum making that sound, there are horses behind the camera :O

  • @Hackepeter42 thats what i thought at first xD 2-3 horses galloping around xD

  • @Hackepeter42 lol!

  • OMG! Check out the Racist Video Response By Scotty. Unbelievable

  • this is not amazingly impressive given the nature of motion, momentum and gravity but it is wonderful to watch. this IS poetry in motion!

  • Blending is balancing:)

  • this is rather anoying hahaha

  • But.. why?

  • I officially have no life

  • @jacobkingoftheohzone

HAHAHAHA shit now i feel the exact same way.

  • @5eizur3 me too ==" xDD

  • @jacobkingoftheohzone Sure, go watch Eminem and Rihanna, then you'll totally 'have a life'.

  • I can't believe I just watched this

  • would be cool if there was an explosion at the end.

  • Try that with a digital metronome - I dare you!

  • im scared

  • Hey mr. Abahraminasab check it out... and see if you find the corelation. I think you gonna like this !

    /watch?v=gQK21572oSU

  • word....witchcraft

  • Yeah, cobber, a couple of cans and we all play in time... cheers!

  • OMG I see the face of Jesus in his shirt! Get your shirt up on ebay quick....haha fifty thousand million billion dollahs...haha. I use a metro for fight night 3!

  • We should make energy out this :P

  • whooooa! thats coolio

  • O.O ohh

  • Sympathetic Harmonics

  • fantastico

  • Altogether now!

  • that's a pretty amazing phenomenon.

  • Entrainment is the process whereby two interacting oscillating systems, which have different periods when they function independently, assume the same period. The two oscillators may fall into synchrony, but other phase relationships are also possible.

Now what dose this mean for brain waves and Heart beats?

  • Wow that's incredibly cool! It's truly mind-boogling to try and understand how it works haha :D Thx for sharing!

  • stumbled from the next room over. someone left some shit on the floor

  • how is that possible? it seems like that would require changing their paces.

  • the rolling of the cans must use the momentum of some of the pendalums to synch the other ones

  • E' sorprendente vedere dal vivo questo esperimento

Avevo letto che anche gli orologi si comportano nello stesso modo

  • the coolest thing to me is the fact they synch, then unsynch several times before setttling down!

  • Pff! I have a solid ruby metronome!!

  • stumbled

  • Stumbled from Uranus

  • thats crazy weird

  • That's interesting stuff.

  • stumbled from wikipedia

  • There is a FACE in that guys SHIRT.

  • LOL

  • This is not conservation of momentum.... This is witchcraft.

  • @grogsitreserve Devilry!

  • @grogsitreserve LMAO!!!!!!!!

  • Stumbled from Lancaster University lol

  • This is actually a demonstration of damped harmonic oscillation. The metronome needles are at the same speed & the only variable left is time. When he adds the board there is a transfer of angular momentum because of the phenomenon of Angular momentum as a generator of rotation. As the soda cans move, angular momentum is being transferred from the needle, to the system & cans. This transfer of angular momentum is the damping force. This & conservation of angular momentum makes the needles sync

  • Does the fact that he uses an odd number of metronomes enter into it? If he were to use four or six, would their motion exactly cancel each other out, and destroy the synchronizing effect?

  • Not at all. It's specifically called the entrainment of frequencies. Where there is a forced vibration on each other. They then "lock" in time with a lower frequency afterwards. Hense the movement of the cans due to the conversation of angular momentum. Sorry if I was unclear before. I forgot the name of the phenomenon. Also, WHO PUT -1? Guess you don't know what your talking about

  • @bobdahaxor This is sarcasm.

  • @bobdahaxor Same happened here... /watch?v=gQK21572oSU

  • @bobdahaxor you are so dumb 4 real !! run and tell that homeboy

  • @bobdahaxor give me a good week or two and i'll reply to what you just said.. Alright, i'll start with google and "Damped Harmonic Oscillation"

  • @bobdahaxor Thanks for explaining that one. I was wondering what just happened. lol

  • Stumbled from Toronto, Ontario, Canada!

  • I always watch the indicators at traffic lights to see when they synchronize. Very interesting.

  • they only all synchronised because of the rollers underneath

eventually they all compromised and went with the sway of the rollers if he had left it on the table they would have not synchronised still clever tho just wonder if theres a pratical application for this knowledge!

  • this explains the universe

  • stumbled from honolulu, hawaii. phasing metronomes! check out steve reich.

  • were the all put at the same tempo, try putting multiple ones at a different temple eventually it cycles around that one click will have them all be together, then it goes out of time again. kind of like this but it doesnt stay in sync for as long.. i think anyways im not a medical physicist or anything, just a percussion that plays with metronomes when bored.

  • stumbled from New Hampshire, this is great!

  • stumbled into amazement.

  • whats the scientific explanation with the cans

  • The cans have nothing to do with it. They're just used as a way to hold up the board while letting it sway freely.

  • Actually, if you read the info tab, the cans have everything to do with it...
