  • chopin was Polish and 'Polon' is related to Polish therefore he must be playing about......Polish mayonaise?

  • @Stevezom I do believe a polonaise is simply a polish dance piece.

  • who's the performer, please?

  • @letung1310 It's Martha Argerich

  • to slowly!!

  • Comment removed

  • Too slow~~~ doesn't sound like a gallant military to me...sounds like they haven't slept or ate in a while lacking in power. listen to faster versions you'll get the idea.

  • Comment removed

  • @1Thompsonmusic two things. First, Chopin had no recordings, therefore; you are not able to know whether or not "He plays it as if it was Chopin himself" Second, did you listen to a faster version before passing judgement stating "You're jealous"?

  • @1Thompsonmusic Sure thompson, what a lovely name your mama gave!!! Did she also taught you to openly pick fights with people? because my mother certainly taught about respect for others opinions...

  • I like the "Heroic" moar :3

  • This is so powerful!

  • MARAVILLOSO.....

  • I love this song so much.

  • I believe you are correct, that people don't care. I was never one however, to accept the status quo. In medicine I even disregarded the "FDA approved" indications and engaged in "off label" prescribing. It seems I was exonerated, and it was some fifteen years before metronidazole received the indication as an antibiotic, when it was better known as a "woman's" drug. I am bound to Sanyo television because it permits me to reach to the remote and cut off the top and bottom.

  • I am close to "old age" and I will never understand the rush to spoil every photo rendition by trying to make it into16;9. The world is not all recorded to be seen that way. It totally spoils the picture. It is the principal reason I do not have "television" in my home, relying on sites and venues where I never have to see them shown as seen here. By the way, the music rendition was superb.

  • @airamerica1964 I am glad to know that I am not the only one who feels the way you do about photo renditions in video format. I can't understand why people willingly watch television with the picture stretched edge-to-edge out of proportion. Nobody seems to care, or perhaps they just don't notice, which is even more incredible to me.

  • ONE M0:00RE TIME!!!

  • @uncahenryy

    The best comment ever! hahaahhah

  • It's a copy of daguerreotype by Louis Antoine Bisson. The daguerreotype was made in 1837 the latest (so at least two years before Chopin's death), as the photo was taken in 1937. Chopin was already very ill with tuberculosis. Unfortunately, the original daguerreotype went missing. A reprint is possessed by Bibliothèque Polonaise à Paris.

  • Who is the pianist here? The tempo is so lazy that it sounds like a piano roll.

  • @selous faggot your country sucks

  • Ah, the best...

  • I could listen to this all night long....Oh 2am look at the time. better dive in the bed before 5am this time.. hehe :3

  • mooi gedaan

  • 1:67 doesn't exist!

  • A little on the soft side, hate to say. Chopin was very elegant on the keys; some might say he even played softly compared to other great pianists of the time, but sometimes Chopin would bang the hell outta of the keys right along side the likes of Liszt, for instance; he did so in this song, which isn't apparent in this interpretation, that's all.

  • 1:60

  • 1:67

  • bellissima musica! 0:37 - 1: 67 - 3:10

  • I listen as I study; this piece exalts me. The form that obstacles take under such circumstance is easily conquered.

  • Pardon my ignorance, is that a photo of the composer?

if so, this must be the only one

  • @beautifulcoward Yes. Probably taken in his last few years.

  • @F14Lolcat Thank you. Apparently this is the only photograph there is of him!

  • @beautifulcoward It's a daguerreotype. I always thought it was made months before his death, in 1849. Chopin doesn't seem too happy in the image, and I figured he was pretty sick at this point in his life, but I guess it could've been a few years or so before he passed away as he apparently had a lung ailment most of his life, some say tuberculosis, and others say cystic fibrosis.

  • In this picture Chopin looks like Professor Snape with a bad haircut.

  • @TheNexus18 This is the daguerreotype taken two years before Chopin's death. (1947)

  • @TheNexus18 He looks sickly... and he was sick most of the time in his life I think. He looks pitiful, sad, and melancholic... incidentally like most of his music. I think he was diagnosed with tuberculosis.

  • @TheNexus18 that is actually what he looks like in real life that was a photograph

  • @selous Your revenge was Gordon Brown

  • They played this song all the the time at a restaurant I used to work at...always gave me the chills for some strange reason.

  • I dislike this performance, the rythm is not true.

  • I feel like this is a soundtrack to a silent film.

  • @Shatallion Totally agree!

  • im playing it 4 my grandmother:)

  • well, who played that piece anyway?

  • verflucht schwer zu spielen

  • @Metalfan2711 nia geht, ich hab das vor paar monaten gespielt und ich fand das nich so schwer...

  • I love classical music. I really do. Everytime i try listening different pieces, of various composers, just to learn and hear more. And everytime, EVERYTIME, i end up listening to Chopin. And .. it feels like home :)

  • The pianist slaps a false key at 0:16.

  • FREDERIC CHOPIN = THE BEST COMPOSER AND MUSICIAN EVER!!!

  • @HarrisonRules95 I agree with you. Chopin ´s the king of composition and piano !

  • @HarrisonRules95

HEAR! HEAR! I could not agree more.

  • @HarrisonRules95 a great one he is, but by far not the best.

  • @juresaiyan Well, that's your opinion but Chopin is my favorite composer. is a subjective opinion. have a nice day

  • @HarrisonRules95 sure. I meant no offense.

  • @juresaiyan ok.no problem :D

  • Comment removed

  • @Classicfan94 Well, as I said before is a subjective opinion: D

  • Comment removed

  • @Classicfan94 yes i know but it wasn't his style of compposition

  • @Classicfan94 I think you are confusing quality with versatility.

  • @HarrisonRules95 because he was of Polish

  • @HarrisonRules95 Beethoven and Mozart were musically the most gifted

  • Comment removed

  • chopin seems like a more free spirited musician...really nowhere to go or no destination...just simply enjoying his talent for himself...he's somewhat joyful in this piece yet somewhat disoriented!!!GO CHOPIN GO CHOPIN

  • thankyou so so much for the info part!

  • which nocturne? if i had to choose it would be opus 27 no 1 and 2 or may be opus 32 no 2 or op 62 no 2 see i just cant choose, he must have had a fantastic brain he was a genius

  • one of the best songs ever composed

    my fav of his :)

  • The only one I like from Chopin.

  • @JustHenryThe8th there is such a lot of great works by chopin even better than this, opus 44 is a really good polonaise its a job to name my favourite piece by chopin cos i'd run out of text, i always try and encourage people to listen to chopin

  • @paulphilip1 Oh... I know his work quite well. But his work lacks something for me, only this one for me and maybe nocturne make me feel something. Other composers have a strength that I just dont find in Chopin.

  • To anybody Polish.. When I listen to this, I think of your valiant countrymen in the 'Battle Of Britain', where they made gallantry a common thing.. They showed the Luftwaffe what time it was! The world ain't even through, thanking you..!

  • @zipper179 How can you make such an idiot comment here? This clip is about Chopin's music, and music in general, the best part of humans, not about war, let alone your rehashed propaganda.

  • @Romeovertherainbow buddy its called the military song

  • the contrary motions! Oh my goodness.

  • I am playing this piece for my piano exam. :)

  • @firecold14422 Wish You luck :)

  • @firecold14422 I too played this piece for my piano exam and then again as part of a solo recital I was required to do.....36 years ago! It is still my favorite to play. Best of luck to you!

  • I just listened to the whole playlist while working on a project for school. I was starting to get really stressed and listening to this great music calmed me down. :)

  • @selous As an Am.of Scottish background, I spent a yr. on an exchange prog. in Poland. After the Battle of Culladen, Catholic Scots fled in large numbers to Poland. When there, I surprisingly found the Poles had bagpipes too. In fact, the family I lived with were Scottish descendants. Mack Robertson

  • Fryderyku,Fryderyku-byłeś,jesteś i zawsze pozostaniesz Wielki :-)

  • my imagination or should it be a bit faster?

  • @8wild8creature8 its your imagination x)

  • @8wild8creature8 Not your imagination. Most good pianists take this at a much, much faster tempo. This is absurdly slow.

  • I love Chopin, but this piece just reminds me far too much of church to be enjoyable.

  • @ClassicalMusicOnly

Hi, do you have any idea who the pianist in this recording is?

    Many thanks.

  • @selous The Scots have an affinity with the oppressed? Must be something to do with playing a major role in the British Empire. How did Scotland's part in it all result from being 'conquered'?

  • I'lll never understand why people have to always comment on how the music is not played right. Everyone has their own interpretation, from elbows to assholes.

And then to say things like all Asian people look like Jackie Chan. Why can't we just listen to the music without saying anything?

  • @sweetcharlie63 ye buddy, nice philosophy

  • @sweetcharlie63 Well.. people have the right to express their opinions and people will always have their own opinions, regardless. And you do have a point; it's much better to avoid sharing negative comments; let's just enjoy the music!

  • @sweetcharlie63 Because some criticisms are actually accurate and can improve someone's playing.. If it means nothing to you then don't comment. After all your doing the same thing now.

  • @MyITRcom...we don't even know who is playing this piece. So, I think this is pretty much perfect in my opinion. And I have been playing this for years, so my comment actually meant something to you?

  • @selous holy crap! a speech like that from a jock! or do all scots have some sort of secret intelligence that they hide from the english!?

  • looks like the guy from No Country For Old Men. I'm surprised I know that.

  • @ChristianPainter Just call it....friendo

  • why do u have the wiki bio for Op. 53 instead of Op. 40 ??

  • yawn...

No dynamics. Very boring. z z z He needs to pick it up a little. A lot actually. Sorry.

If you want to hear a terrific performer play this, check out Tzvi Erez' channel and search for Military. Awesome!

  • @December10th2010 beautiful player

  • Yeh, he looks like Bruse Lee in his younger year too

  • good!!

  • good!!

  • hahha jackie chan x) halarious made my studying of this song a lil intresting

  • all asians look like jackie chan

  • @CatyDavis What's your point........a "classical" look, I guess.

  • @thabluz7 ha your asian

  • Anton Rubinstein remarked that the Polonaise in A major is the symbol of Polish glory, whilst the Polonaise in C minor is the symbol of Polish tragedy.

  • sheet music???????

  • He does look like Jackie Chan! lol

  • I didn't know they have photo during his time.

  • @ferrari4sale It's a type of photograph called a daguerreotype. It's an image on metal. It came on the scene before pictures. This is the only one of Chopin, which was taken less than a year before he died. I don't imagine he was feeling too good at this point, with t.b. and a weak constitution and all.

  • xDD yes when you say it, he looks like chackie chan, ah ha, maybe he is him

  • Dlatego dobrze być Polakiem:)

  • I love Chopin!

  • ezt a Chopen dalt a Sissi cimű filmben is lehet hallani. Ott ismertem meg.

  • i got turned on to this tune at age 8 by my mom she got sick of me playin bethoven's 9th over and over on a lil mustang phonograph original einstien kid 45 years ago pink floyd is still my fav magestic grandure etc.

  • Hi Jackie Chopin lol..

  • oh yeah wtf he does look like jackie chan

  • Looks like H.C Andersen...If anybody know who that is :)

  • Etwas zu müde!

  • who is the pianist? luv his perception!

which piano? luv the sound of it!

  • omigod this is beyond anything ive ever heard♥

  • cool²!

  • Maybe I am missing something here, but ho is actually playing here? The reason Chopin does not look so great in the photograph, he visited England and even Scotland the previous year, and the climate really nailed the guy...

  • @fredericfranc Actually he was sick - and the photographer produced a squashed image....

  • Omg, I learned about this guy for yrs and...wow...your right, dude, he looks like Jackie Chan, damn

  • great piece its been done better by others

  • @massperk ClassicalMusicOnly never bothers to identify the performers of the music he shares, so we'll never know the identity of the pianist here. This performance would not even exist without the performer, so how come he thinks it's unimportant? I think it shows a grave disrespect and ignorance. In any event, I agree with you, I have heard much better and more exciting performances from other pianists.

  • Great piece. Reminds me of a bunch of crazy generals marching around for no reason. . . :)

  • @FrenchHornComposer Along with a drinking problem. I'm glad that other nations can enjoy Chopin's music that in a view of many can be understood only by the Poles.

  • @FrenchHornComposer rather simplistic take on the music of a genius

  • @FrenchHornComposer ...did you mean Napoleon? :)

  • @FrenchHornComposer you mean the french army?

  • i like it but it seems kind of slow. otherwise i really like it!

  • Obvious troll is obvious.

    Must i say more?

Just shut up- carry your infantile quarrels to some Barney video if you're not going to enjoy the music and post mature comments like adults should.

    Ye gods.

  • Why does every video on youtube have to turn out in a shitstorm?

  • This is awfully pedantic. Technically fine but no spirit, no fire. This is 'military' - i would not march to this - just amble! Just demonstrates how an artist's interpretation can mean the difference between a memorable or forgettable performance. I would not listen to this twice. I apologise to whoever was playing.

  • is this a difficult piece for a 14 yr old? i mean, it seems just all power and loud to me, which doesnt translate to difficult.

  • But this is not one of the best of Chopin, one of his worst maybe. WHY?

  • Only, is this you who is performing?

  • i am the best pianist in the world and can learn anything in under two hours. I am a prodigy and no body can top me

  • @hithereiluvu tell me wen i know who u r

  • @pesach522 suck it fucker

  • @hithereiluvu tell me that wen u make it it big tell then u suck it

  • @hithereiluvu why deny the truth

  • i do not like this recording at all.

  • does anyone has the score?

  • Awesome. A real picture of the great Chopin.

  • @tonyman2c

Yes it is. I didn't know Professor Snape was made to look like Chopin. :)

  • ha i learned this piece in under two hours. give me, a prodigy, a challenge

  • @hithereiluvu

Because it's extremely easy to be a keyboard expert and tell everyone how amazing you are. Stop bragging and telling incredulous lies, you twit.

  • @hithereiluvu This song is VERY repetitive, thus very easy to learn. Like F3ARMUFFS said-- you fail.

  • Thank you! Excellent

  • Czy ktos wie dzie mozna znalezc Op40 no1 grane przez Janusza Olejniczak ??

  • GENIAL! :D

  • Which pianist plays in this recording?

  • gut

  • was it this music ..or the poish national anthem that was played continuously on the radio for days until warsaw fell to the germans during the war?...marty

  • Piano is amazing!!!
