  • Written by a french artillery officer, imagining the shit cake that is the aristocracy. And genius.

  • Wow, it's got that "old film" feel in the beginning where the credits move ever so slightly with the projector.

  • Can you please post the rest of the movie???

  • oh boy, I am reading the comments and I almost vomit,,,,

what are you talking about? this is a masterpiece!

who can compare with Valmont or other silly stuff? do you know the meaning of the word "class"?

This is pure art in cinema, food for the (dark part of) soul...

    I can't understand 8 thumbs down

  • How can this even be translated into Castillian correctly? It'd take five meteres to spell out that Madame was wed...

  • Let's dub Wages of Fear next, using the Ninja Turtles as the voice over. Then Seven Samurai using Alvin and the Chipmunks. It's no more or less annoying.

  • @ericberner Seven Samurai with Alvin and the Chipmunks would be awesome...

  • oh my, with so many clothing obstacles how could so one have the time to have a liaison?

  • The most godawful thing ever invented. Dubbing. The cheapest rate actors are used for this. One can always hear instantly when it's fake.

Fact: all countries (or part thereof) where English movies are dubbed rather than subtitled, English is spoken far less fluently than in other foreign countries!

  • I don't mind people posting whatever they want however they want... BUT DON'T PUT YOUR VIDEO IN SPANISH IF THE TITLE IS IN ENGLISH... That's simply misleading and now I have to find another video...

  • I like all three of the major movies, but wish any one of them would have stuck to the book. This one was a casting messup with Uma Thurman in it -- an otherwise fine actress, just not right for this part. I have no problem with hearing this not in English, I live in Europe now (France) and this doesn't bother me. Uprated. Thank you for posting.

  • @slobomotion I disagree only because I think this film represents the finest measure in casting next to maybe 'I Claudius' in English speaking roles. This is certainly what Close and Malkovich are good at; Pfieffer was a believable mushy goof. Keanu was perfect for the dim Dauceny. And remember all the pointless back-bone work of the pfanee character at the abbey. Never mind. get on with it. This is the tenderloin of the story in it's best form. Close, Malkeovich.

  • @ericberner Thanks, I am about to look at your clip you just sent. The two movies from the '80s are so darn good, it's kind of silly to pick at them, but we just didn't like Thurman as Cecile and felt the lady in the Forman movie was more genuine. I have no idea why so many movies don't stick to the books! Merteuil runs off, scarred but scot free to have more adventures, shafting her family w her debts! Love it! I liked both the Danceny actors equally, had no problem with Reeves.

  • @slobomotion sorry I'm totally hi jacking this convo. I agree I liked both version but I really could not accept Firth as baddie gone good. He didnt have the sinister nature or indifferent manipulative nature Malchovich did, Fairuza Balk as Cecile was awkward for me and it seemed that the DL set was more authentic, more real, dramatic Than Valmont's. But both are strong in their own rights (Meg Tilly). its a shame they were released within a year of each other. read the book its phenomenal.

  • Really? What the fuck language are they speaking? I can't understand shit, and this is one of my favorite parts of this movie. Thanks for nothing!

  • @michaeldj5 That's Castilian Spanish, ugh!
