  • I am pop culture ignorant. But the names of famous guitarists that would go see him when in the area is staggering. A relative took classes from him. Many big names wanted him in their band but he preferred his own way and restoring old chevies.

  • Beautiful, fuggin' beautiful.

  • That stinky Hammond sound starting at around 1:07 just fries my brain pan.Just so unspeakably hip.

  • Fantastic!

    Wonderful!

    Thanks!

    Giba

  • Do not watch before bed time or else you'll end up sleepless and inspired to practice, practice, practice, practice...Beautiful!!!

  • B3, piano, horn section, vocalist, bass etc all rolled into one old Tele.

  • really good techniques

  • A god danm teqniuqe handed down from god!! what a genius in a half!

  • what a beast .. i was planning on sleeping about an hour and a half ago when i stumbled across a video of this guitarist named "Danny GAllton" .. well since then I have pretty much watched all his videos .. wow .. tomorrow i go out to purchase any albums and material i can find ..

  • You should check out my web site for killer relic telecasters and stratocasters...they are the best relic tele's in existense! But don't take my word for it...go to the review section and see what everyone from Vince Gill, Johnny Hiland, Robben Ford to Keith Urban have to say about them! Thanks folks.

  • If you look close, his finger nails look like he just changed the oil in one of his hot rods! lol

  • LoOoL! I haven't seen such a used fretboard before, I thought Mike Stern's is really worned, but look at this. He eat, chewed, swallowed every corner of the fretboard... Hope one day my fretboard worn will be close to this...

  • 0:29 sounds like a sax!

  • im proud to share my birthday with this guy. such a well rounded player

  • When Danny shot himself, it was a sad loss to the music world. An accomplished craftsman of his art.

  • @johnnyhaleuk

Yes it was a huge loss. I had to deliver the news to my grandmother (his mom) in the middle of the night. He was my uncle.

  • Danny was in a class all to himself.

    Top notch in everyway.

  • nice

  • Ok what do i need to get a sick organ sound like that>?

    I have a tremelo in my amp,and i roll the tone down,do i need a rotory?Chorus?

    Help a brotha out.

  • @SonnyREast you need Danny ,,,no one can ever "sound like that" RIP

  • @SonnyREast you need a dingus

  • You set the speed of the tremelo at a speed that resembles the speed of a Leslie speaker. It works best with a Telecaster. You use the neck pickup and roll the treble down. It doesn't have to be all the way down just enough to get a dark tone.

  • You know what is classic about Danny is he listens to soo many different types of Music, Country, Blues, Rockabiliy Jazz and can incorporate all this into his style which him so amazing. Setzer is like that as well it make you so well rounded.

  • with a tele with that much wear you just know the dude playing it has completely mastered playing it

  • It's hard to believe that fingerboard used to be maple!

  • Saw him at his peak in the late 80s a couple of times. Ridiculously talented musician.

  • totally mastery!

  • second half sounds like a kazoo! beautiful

  • Making his guitar sound like an organ without it being cheesy. He was just unbelievable. Why do the good ones have to go so soon?

  • Genius.

  • I totally agree with the guy who says rhythm playing is more important. If you're in a group, you'll only solo a quarter of the time, so having an arsenal of cool intervals and chords to play behind the other soloists is pretty important! Plus, a lot of great single note ideas come from interval and chord knowledge anyway...

  • amazing guitarist

  • so effortless...a true master of the Tele

  • The second half sounds like a pipe organ!

  • I like Danny. He reminds of Patrick Sweaney.

  • Gatton plays as effortlessly and natural as breathing!

  • Don't you love his foundation of rhythm, swing and timing..then come the leads.

  • No doubt, 2 characteristics of Hendrix and Gatton absolutley exquisite rhythm players.

  • can there be any doubt that rhythm playing is the most important.....

  • God i love him...

  • His range of styles and phrasing was just endlessly creative.

  • we have been watchin the same videos lately it seems, i always wound up readin your weird comments

  • Just bought myself a Tele and this is EXACTLY the sound I want to make. Anybody know where I can buy some talent?!?

  • nice

  • crazy talented. always amazed at his playing.

  • r.i.p

  • really fantastic playing. danny was one master.

  • Danny was a spirit of light, very sensibility

    and feeling!!So good!!

  • He was the best.
