I am pop culture ignorant. But the names of famous guitarists that would go see him when in the area is staggering. A relative took classes from him. Many big names wanted him in their band but he preferred his own way and restoring old chevies.
what a beast .. i was planning on sleeping about an hour and a half ago when i stumbled across a video of this guitarist named "Danny GAllton" .. well since then I have pretty much watched all his videos .. wow .. tomorrow i go out to purchase any albums and material i can find ..
You should check out my web site for killer relic telecasters and stratocasters...they are the best relic tele's in existense! But don't take my word for it...go to the review section and see what everyone from Vince Gill, Johnny Hiland, Robben Ford to Keith Urban have to say about them! Thanks folks.
LoOoL! I haven't seen such a used fretboard before, I thought Mike Stern's is really worned, but look at this. He eat, chewed, swallowed every corner of the fretboard... Hope one day my fretboard worn will be close to this...
You set the speed of the tremelo at a speed that resembles the speed of a Leslie speaker. It works best with a Telecaster. You use the neck pickup and roll the treble down. It doesn't have to be all the way down just enough to get a dark tone.
You know what is classic about Danny is he listens to soo many different types of Music, Country, Blues, Rockabiliy Jazz and can incorporate all this into his style which him so amazing. Setzer is like that as well it make you so well rounded.
I totally agree with the guy who says rhythm playing is more important. If you're in a group, you'll only solo a quarter of the time, so having an arsenal of cool intervals and chords to play behind the other soloists is pretty important! Plus, a lot of great single note ideas come from interval and chord knowledge anyway...

When Danny shot himself, it was a sad loss to the music world. An accomplished craftsman of his art.

Yes it was a huge loss. I had to deliver the news to my grandmother (his mom) in the middle of the night. He was my uncle.

Making his guitar sound like an organ without it being cheesy. He was just unbelievable. Why do the good ones have to go so soon?

The only master of the telecaster who can rightfully tributise the great Danny Gatton,
is my dear friend Ariel "Kid Ory 2000" Levy, who plays a Danny Gatton Tele (rare,
"no zircons" model) and a vintage Epiphone Emperor with updated Lindsey Fralin P-90's.
Sincerely,
The Legendary Danny O'Doul
