  • my band played this a hell of a lot better and faster

  • love it like crazy cos i in military band playing clarinet!!

  • I'M IN THERE SOMEWHERE.

Anyways, looking back on it, dynamics, tempo, articulations, etc. could use work but we were like, 11-14 years old and had 3 days :P

On a side note, if anyone has any recordings of the SD High School Honor band from the year 2005-2006 I would worship you if you could get them to me :D

  • uhh i am pretty sure the 3rd string it suppose to be softer

  • I'm in middle schhol and we play it faster than this.

  • me too

  • we are currently playing this song in Marching Band and we play it alot faster. but other than that , Great Job !

  • i play this in my band and it sounds so different i play clarinet and i cant even hear my part in this performance i reconize the end though

  • pretty damn good for middle schoolers IMO....way to go kids keep up the good work

  • The first part was a bit messy and the part where some stop its kinda like a sudden stop. Wierd..

    But overall... COOL MAN!!!xD

  • Now that i hear again after being forced to play real fast from my conductor. This is kinda slow. And the te-te-te-te-te-te-te! is not clearly seperated.T.T

  • that was played well but it is a very easy march to play

  • soooooo slow

  • They are middler schoolers what do you expect?

    :D

  • Yeah, and they probably only had half of a day to put it all together along with two or more other pieces.

  • Easiest march to play.

  • Would have been better if they avoided dragging.

  • mmm...I don't like how that band play that march.

  • they play it to slow, and they stared a little slow, and as everyone says dynamics, but otherwise its fine. its ostalgic cause i played this so long ago but it was good.

ps the low bass has to play louder.

  • true its a march piece....and they just dragged it out

my music that i have says to play it 112-120 at march tempo but by my estimation (with a metronome) i think they went about 108 ish

  • ummmm.....not very good for an honors band regular band can play dis better-esp.our band we better and we regular band

  • we played this in the city band that year, and it was a little faster, and with more dynamics.

  • we played this in the city band that year, and it was a little faster, and with more dynamics.

  • Thus, there should be a BIG change in dynamics. Also, at measure 39, some of the instruments overpowered the more important, melodic parts.

Besides that, your band did pretty good for only five rehearsals. Nice articulation (except where the quality failed), especially in the trumpets.

  • Seems a it slow to me, but that might just be me. Anyways, somethings for your band:

Dynamics: The intro should be loud (marked fortissimo), but then after the first quarter note in measure 5, all the instruments should be much quieter. The quarter notes marked forte, before the the eighth rests, should be played accordingly. Have some crescendo and decrescendo in the dotted quarter notes in the 6/8 time. At measure 65, the first time around should be piano, and the repeat should be fortissimo.

  • i luv thi song its so much fun 2 play i have 1st and its awsum!!!!!!!! im dojn it for regular band not honors so we must b better than these ppl......

  • You aren't 11 years old, either. Some of these kids are, and the oldest is 14.

  • wah this song i muz tongue my clarinet so much

  • I was in the San Diego City Honor Band, 1st Chair Bass Clarinet, and 7th Clarinet....But that was last year, tommorow, night is My Honor Band Teyouts, for San Diego City Honor band....but last year, we played El Cpaitain, but we also played, Chillers and Thrillers, Slections from Wicked, Flight of Valor, and I am forgeting one...Sorry....

  • THe on ther Song We plaied, last year was Called The Red Ballon...It was really boring....but I like had a brain fart and remembered...

  • at the end the alto saxs could of brought the sound out alittle more cuz you cant really hear them but other then that very good:)

  • no they were fine

  • Overall this is good because of the ages in the honor band, but this piece to slow. Im playing this song for high school marching and got 1st part even though im Freshmen. The 16th were missing and tonguing is pretty hard if you werent in band for a long time.

    And still, its very good!

  • What are you talking about?? it's a march, and march speed is 120 BPM... if this isn't dead-on 120... then its very slightly lower... but VERY slightly

  • no form 2:06 till the end it was slow...

  • yes we r playin it in middle school regular band and this is pretty slow and were good at it!!!!

  • You claim to be 17. Why is that?

  • HI my high school band is playing this song for a concert next week. I am very impressed with the way these guys played it. IT was pretty good but it was too slow and the dynamics were not exaggerated enough considering it is a march piece. DIdn't emphasize the surprise chords enough. COuld not hear the 16th notes at 78 to 90. Overall, pretty good.

  • Hey, thanks for the comments.

  • thank you mr.whitaker for putting this video on youtube...

  • trumpet could've been a liitle louder, and some dynamics could have been emphisized more, but other than that it was good.

  • The oldest musician was 14, the youngest was 11. They came from at least a dozen different schools. They rehearsed only five times before this perfomance.

  • hey!! my name is zach gelwix and i was a percussionist in this band.....i thank you very much for putting this video online...any chance others will go online?

  • I borrowed a school video camers, and the tape seems pretty bad. I'm having a tough time getting the rest of the concert off the camera. I'll try using a Mac at Hillsdale tomorrow morning and see if that helps. So, the short answer to your question is "Maybe."

Oh yeah, nice work! You were great!

  • Thank you very much...I never new Kelsey was so talented at the piano!! Well tell her i said hi and i i had a good time working with her. Thanks a ton.. Zach
