along wih making peple assume the LFA was nothing more than just a one off car by a luxury maker and making them forget about the supra, 2000gt and others, assuming the LFA has no racing heritage
and they discrased his name by allowing one of his co-creations the supra, to be allowed in that dispicable movie which made muscle car enthusiests and the world assume it was just some toy car, and with the production of the LFA
They nearly put him in accounting? that would have been a major breakthrough for Asians, instead of a race car driver which is a path so many Asian's have already taken!!
I dont know this guy but I really want to cry, I guess because I feel the passion that he have. Farewell, I dream to have a similar lifetime, you've just inspired me.
Could drive circles around anyone at Nurburgring. Not an easy course. Designed and tested vehicles that were sold to BILLIONS of people. Died doing what he was born to do. Reading some of these post I don't get why you guys don't give this man his respect and just be quiet. It takes a lot to create a car.
@1X1ZeroOne1X1 ur right! Alot of people know aren't thankful! They think that XBOX is Better than PS3 & they think they're rice-box civics can keep up with a JDM Type-R EK9! WTF is wrong with people? They take everything for granted :(
if you really honored his death, you would name the LFA to the Lexus Naruse.
Balboni gets his own dedicated car, why shouldn't Hiromu? Especially considering one of your own cars killed this legend, but you guys dont care, because you guys are the General Motors of Japan.
umm.. comparison of toyota and lamborghini is a bit.. anyway. I bet he will be honored by his own model and it wont be a lexus but a proper toyota. I bet for a new hachiroku, though it could be limited to jdm, since it will be sold as scion in the US.
@soodlorr I think the main reason of his death was age, I bet he crashed many test cars in the past which were not near as safe. This is part of his job, to find the limits of a car, and loosing control of it is inevitable. But at his age... I'll put it this way: it's very easy for 78 year old to be killed by a common flu. We don't know why exactly he had loose control of the car, maybe he fainted, or even had heart attack or stroke, nobody will never know.
Today it is 10.12 and only now learned that the man who so brilliantly led the LFA on the Nordschleife, and helped to create this wonderful car (my personal dream, right next to the GT-R) is dead. He died like an ordinary driver, but no doubt for Toyota / Lexus was a man priceless. And for all the world a priceless supercars.
Naruse-San , You lived a life where thousands or even millions of people would have loved to do and even die for what they do. I deeply respect you, greatly. You are not just an innovator to us but you are now my inspiration to live life to the fullest. Rest in Speed.
Did anyone here what happened? I speculate he was in a remote area and accidentally driving on the left side of the road. I'd do that when I was in New Zealand sometimes (accidentally drive on the right)
@groundhabit he was the chief test driver for Lexus driving the LFA and got into a head on collision on the nurgburg race track in Germany. I don't understand that part because I thought the track was a one way...anyone care to elaborate on that?
RIP to Hiromu Naruse, who is credited for making some of Toyota's most soul-stirring cars... From the Sports 800 all the way up to the Supra and Altezza/IS300, gotta thank him for making it possible. For shame Toyota's (somewhat) exciting cars are limited to overpriced luxury cars...
It's hard not to tear up watching this. So many incredible cars he helped create. He was an icon and the world of motoring will never be the same without him in it...
It's not ironic that he was killed by his passion. Most of the best are killed due to their passion. People know that over indulgence is deadly. May we hope he rest in peace
