  • While I agree with the rest of what you said, I have to disagree about Prince of Persia. Even in modern times, when they've heavily mixed with Arabs, Persians/Iranians average lighter than pure Arab countries, with a substantial minority of them being blond and blue eyed. Back in ancient times Persians were even lighter.

The rest of what you said is correct, however, especially about Avatar. Casting the heroes in Avatar as white was an abomination.Especially since they made the villains dark.

  • Just don't support that shit I didn't go see the last air bender or any of that shit because usually remakes and sequels and these made from the game/comic movies sucks ass and the story line is usually fucked up.

  • Click dat yellow button???? Where? Click dat yellow button???? Where? Click dat yellow button???? No more yellow button!!!

  • @ZzieBuki Youtube took away the golden button =(

  • I know what you mean .. Can u believe that SPIDER MAN is going to be black now ... unfucking believable. What next? I hear they are making a movie about Jon Henry and they're thinking about using a really tanned white guy. Is nothing sacred any more?

  • Hollywood is controlled by a bunch of Jews who control the majority of not all US media, they dont give a damn about anyone else, they just wanna make money, these elitist ultra zionist jews would sell out their own brothers to make money and they have a dark side to their agenda.

  • I thought the actors from Roots were white? And did he just call me a bitch?

  • i love dragon ball z.

  • thats an interesting point, i really liked the movie prince of persia, but then i was thinking " why the hell do they have british accents if theyre presian ", people have been doing the same thing to egyptians too, they always used to cast white people as egyptians, the only time i ever noticed they ever cast a main role egyptian as and actual african person was in the movie Queen of the Damned were Aaliyah ( an african american actress ) played the egyptian goddess of vampiers

  • Haha I love your earrings, lol.

  • Actually Sokka and Katara were Inuit/Yupik.

    Water Tribe - Inuit, Yupik

    Fire Nation - Japnese; Chinese

    Earth Kingdom - Chinese, Korean

    Air Nomads - Tibetan

But yes, it was whitewashed and the casting calls were prejudiced as they originally only called for "Caucasian or Other"

  • @DaTruth2024 It is believed that the Inuit have Mongoloid ancestry. Many of them even today have the monolids and epicanthic folds. But yes, they aren't geographically Asian; they are Native American/First Nation.

  • i 100% agree.

  • The Actors are white but they were casted cause they

    LOOK LIKE THE CHARACTERS.

  • @rockTHEnine Jackson Rathbone and Nicola Peltz are not brown. They do not look like Sokka and Katara.

  • I dont know why they keep on comparing karate kid and geisha when i see topics about prince of persia, avatar and dragon ball. First, he said "asian" in the karate kid, it was emphasized that the character wanted to learn karate but since they were in china so he had to learn kung fu! and for the geisha film, the actress who played the character is still asian... and another thing.. we are talking about characters who are based in animation and video games... karate kid and geisha are not..

  • OMG You are totally right. I love Dragon Ball Z and was soooo disappointed. Just think...the last samurai with Tom Cruise....like Paul Mooney said...the last nigga on earth...starring Tom Hanks...Im so glad someone agrees with me on this. So many animes are about to be made into movies take place in asia...but Im sure white people like Keanu Reeves (Cowboy Bebop) will be the stars. Don't give them ideas about roots though..just dont

  • OMG "ROOTS"= WHITE PPL MAN UR HILARIOUS.......but yeah whitewashing all these awesome series will cause many fans to not support it any more soo message to HOLLYWOOD....."Leave our childhood and video games alone Bitches Damn"!!

  • Interesting?? This whitewashing has been done for over 50 years to Native Americans. Look at any old John Wayne cowboy films, all Natives are played by Caucasians in a demeaning manner. But it isn't until the present time and dealing with 'different' ethnic race that the term 'whitewashing' is used.

Let's look at the current 'blackwashing'. In 1999 Will Smith starred in 'Wild Wild West' playing James West. This role was originally a Caucasian role. Remade and recast with a black actor.

  • Lol, you're wearing Hello Kitty ear rings.

  • I say whoever is qualified for the role "and whoever the director casts as the character" should be merits enough. And oh yeah being a white guy I was SO pissed that Will Smith's son was casted as the "Karate Kid". Give me a break. So according to everyones mindset I should have loved Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne in the Dark Knight, when in fact his character was the one I despised the most. And would Friday have done as good with Xzibit as D Bo and Anthony Anderson as Craig?

  • Your right. Good stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There wouldn't be an A:TLAB if it weren't for Asian culture. There is no diversity because white people are continuously given heroic roles, whereas nonwhite people are placed in the background. This was the perfect opportunity to introduce nonwhite actors into the mainstream media. Instead, people are given a white hero movie.

How can anyone expect diversity if white is considered a default color/social norm. But I guess ignorance is a part of privilege.

  • the mexican ... the last samurai. word to Chappelle's show !!.

  • Well Goku isn't really asian in the first place, he's technically an alien. He looks asian due to where he originated from as a piece of art. He was drawn in asia. He can be portrayed as any race when brought to real life as long as the character draws a small resemblance.

  • @Richikid360 HMMM, maybe an asian person would have looked most like an asian looking character. Doesn't that make any sense ??. lol.

  • I hated that dragonball remake that's why I didn't watch it!

I think, the movie industry is just thinking all about making money..

kinda pisses me off, but they really should use people who are in same culture or people as close as possible to the culture..

and yesterday, I remember I watched the next karate kid, w/c was the teenage white girl, is that fine? because I haven't watched any other neither the original karate kid (:-/

    pinay kid here,

    jhajham0204 ^^,

  • Hey, its a part of America an its history; from music to movies it really is. In the examples of these movies I think it takes away from the authenticity of these films. It's like bread, the more they bleach it, the more boring and unhealthy it is.

  • @7dontyouknow7 : Kind of true....lol.

  • What about the remake of The Karate Kid????? Will Smith directed it put his kid as the main character....where as in the very first Karate Kid the kid is white.....so yeah........

  • @candyaddict09

The 2010 Karate Kid is not a remake. It is a new story. Jackie Chan is not Mr. Miyagi. He is Mr. Han. The 2010 KK takes place in China, not California like the 1984 movie. Counter this comment?!

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08 Then why did they not rename it? Nightmare on Elm street have different names but they still call it a remake. People who live in the US have the RIGHT to do what they want in All creative things.

  • @candyaddict09

Okay, I researched it... You are right. :D Despite having different names, they stated that it IS a remake. Hah, fail me.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08

    It's all good =D

  • @infused08, @candyaddict09 Well they DID use a white girl in one of them too. So the Karate Kid thing is kind of whatever kid comes along...and Pat Morita is Japanese not Chinese...if you want to get THAT technical about it

  • Comment removed

  • @candyaddict09 The main character of The Karate Kid isn't defined by its ethnicity. White actors take race neutral roles from POC regularly. POC are constantly cast as inconsequential background characters or villains. White is considered a default color/social norm. There no room for diversity.

There have been many opportunities to diversify American media: A:TLAB, 21, Earthsea, POP etc. Instead, in 2010, I get a bunch of movies starring white people saving the world.

  • @candyaddict09 I also love how white people are so upset that a black kid was cast in a race neutral role, but conveniently forget that karate is japanese. This remake is set in China and Jackie Chan is teaching kung-fu. China and Japan are two completely different countries.

  • I'm with you in sticking with the source material, to be quite honest. I mean, I've seen people call for a black Spiderman, and though that would be progressing, people are better off sticking to the original mythos or to the world built around that character. Case in point, Nick Fury and the Green Lantern had Caucasian and Black incarnations, so that would be cool.

Did you know that the main character in Starship Troopers was orig. Filipino in the novel? They cast Casper Van Dien.

  • Couldn't care less what color the actors are. As long as they are good for the role, then they should play it. Like if Donald Glover is the best person to play Spider-man, then he deserves to play Spider-man.

Also, Goku isn't Asian because he isn't from Earth.

  • @RobbyMac217 Goku is an alien who looks Asian just like how Superman is an alien who looks white.

  • @RobbyMac217

Turning a blind eye to the race portrayals is how Hollywood continues to get away with it. Imagine if a white guy put on black makeup to play as Michael Jordan for a film. There would be an uproar. However, the use of yellowface still continues because Hollywood only considers white people as suitable hero archetypes. Goku looks Asian in the Dragon Ball series, and thus he should be portrayed by an Asian person. The alien argument is bogus.

  • @RobbyMac217 So we should just regress back to the days when white people wore make-up to play Asians, Native Americans, and Blacks on film, because an actual person of that race, with the legitimate features, bone structure, fluid accent, and natural mannerisms doesn't matter at all?

  • @RobbyMac217 Also, Goku is Asian because his name is GOKU, and the entire story of Dragonball is based on the CHINESE folk novel called Journey to the West, about a Money King who can fly on clouds and uses a wishing staff which he got from the Dragon Kings. It's a very deeply Asian story in every respect, and to have a white guy, or a guy who can "pass" for white play the role is just insulting even to me, and I'm not even Asian.

  • @SaiKoSeSu

Goku is a Saiyan, not Asian, but raised Asian.

  • @prjibaro1 Dude, it's anime... he's Asian (no I'm not saying all Anime characters are Asian because that's not true, but it's generally assumed that any character is Asian unless otherwise mentioned that they're not, or if it's blatantly obvious).

  • @prkibaro1 And I'm talking phenotypes here. Just like Superman is an alien but he's White, Goku is an alien but he's Asian. In terms of appearance. I just don't think it makes sense to make him White. Clearly the box office didn't either.

  • @SaiKoSeSu

on the anime it is mentioned that he is a Saiyan, son of Bardock and younger brother of Raditz, what other proof do you want?

  • @prjibaro1 Did you read my comment? You missed the point.

"Goku is an alien but he [should have been be portrayed as looking] Asian. In terms of appearance. I just don't think it makes sense to make him White. Clearly the box office didn't either."

ANYWAY I'm tired of talking about this. DX

  • @SaiKoSeSu

Ok, I got it, as Goku is from a mangas anime, it is fair to protrait him as Asian.

  • @RobbyMac217 DONALD GLOVER SHOULD'VE PLAYED SPIDER MAN.

    /foreverupset

  • @RobbyMac217 I disagree. If the ethnicity of the actor is important to the story, then you have to have race-based casting. Should they cast Jake Gyllenhaal and Cate Blanchett to play the roles of West Africans in the 1600s during the trans-Atlantic slave trade? No. It'd be stupid by default.

  • @RobbyMac217 Goku is chinese, its Folklore.

  • cute earrings

  • I totally agree, ive actually vowed to not see avatar due to the miss representation of the characters. Its so sad.

  • dragonball was created when the japanese were pretty much obsessed with white people. they wanted to become like white people and they even had skin bleaching products. why do you think goku's hair turns blonde and his eyes turn blue when he goes super saiyan?

  • Comment removed

  • @tonictrip Have you never seen any paintings from the time before Hollywood? They always been white just like the Greek gods. duh.

  • Hey Chris!

Long time no talk! How's everything going?

    GinoSan

  • some Persian people actually consider themselves white within their own culture because they are paler than the darker Persians. To be fair, Goku in Dragonball is a humanoid Alien except they excised his tail from the Saiyan backstory in Dragonball Evolution. Have you played the Prince of Persia games. The first few games had a Prince w/ Blonde hair. At least the "Sands of Time" era Prince is dark haired.

Overall though, Hollywood needs to work heavily on its Asian representation

  • @rnb8220

This is true some really do, but having admixture doesn't really do much when it comes to the dominant "middle eastern" characteristics, the very same that you can see even in Saudis, less melanin just skewers them a bit.

  • i miss the happy bunny intro and SUBSCRIBE song from you. i was pretty pissed off when i heard prince zuko was indian. no offense to indians but prince zuka shuda been asian. and it doesnt make sense cuz azula his sister is not indian nor is the firelord.

  • @510musicmaker I wish they made it All Asian so when the movie failed you guys would have nothing to cry about. Then Hollywood would try to stay with US based heroes like Batman or Spiderman which actually bring in more money than any Avatar movie with or without Asians ever could.

  • You're missing the point here. It's not just an Asian thing. It's about films accurately representing the culture in their adaptations. Peter Parker is white, therefore a Caucasian looking actor should play him. The animators for Avatar TLAB although Western, traveled to Asia to learn the culture for their cartoon. It's obvious that a lot of the characters in that cartoon are Asian so Asian actors should play them. Sure the US should stick to everything US... what an ethnocentric mindset

  • @itsliz89 I not saying that the people in the US should stick to US things (even though that would help the economy) I'm saying with movies people are not paying money to see an All Asian cast. When is the last time any all Asian movie made a decent amount of money. It's about money and if I was an investor I want something to make money.

  • Which reminds me of Charlie's Angels... Lucy Liu's father is white. then maybe she's half white??

  • I think that the movie industry should stick to the culture and the race of whatever they are remaking. It's really stupid how they change so many good and main characters to white. Asians can act to, just go to the Philippines, Japan, China, Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc. they have so many good actors/actress that are fantastic for the role. Like The Last Airbender, they should keep the characters asian influenced only. Same w/ the setting.

  • i agree with a lot of other people that the movie industry is trying to accumulate more profit by hiring white actors and all, but it is only right to stay true to the the shows

  • LOVE the earrings!

  • Yeah, 'white-washing' always bothered me; perhaps I was more aware because I'm Asian. I don't know why Hollywood is so set on casting Caucasians for those roles, but have you ever noticed, most of the movies casting white people as any 'minority' is usually a box office bomb.

By the way, I love your Hello Kitty earrings. :]

  • Information on the official casting calls for Avatar TLAB is available on the internet:

    racebendingDOTcom/v3/background/caucasian-or-any-other-ethnicity/#maincast

Basically for the main characters: Caucasian or any other ethnicity (Let's be real here, we all know what that really means)

Extras: NEAR EASTERN, MIDDLE EASTERN, FAR EASTERN, ASIAN, MEDITERRANEAN & LATINO ETHNIC GROUP

  • Good to see your back!

A video with a lot of truths (Y)

    Missed the SUBSCRIBE song! :D

  • Don't forget the movie '21' The one based on a true story about a bunch of ASIAN students from MIT learning how to count cards in Vegas. The movie was all white people except one Asian actor and they made him goofy

  • i think the movie industry is trying to get characters that are more relate-able to the general audience in america. face it. the general population in america is white so the casting guys would tend to try to get a guy that is more relate-able to the general audience, which is white. they also did this with clash of the titans. the main character looked like some guy right out of boot camp. a true American hero while all the other characters in the movie had long braided hair.

  • @jowsley0923

That's understood, but it shouldn't be that way. And I believe Clash didn't do well at the box office either. Prince of Persia isn't doing so great in it's opening week, DragonBall flopped, what is Avatat: TLA going to do?

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08 Those movie didn't fail because of just the cast they failed because they sucked.Race does not matter if it sucks Duh. Making them with any race would not have saved those films and it probably would have done worse.

  • @jowsley0923 Well then the movie industry should STOP making films about people from other ethnicities and cultures and only make movies about white people and white cultures so that'll make this so-called "general population" feel comfortable. That's all I've got to say. And Half Pinoy Kid is RIGHT. None of those films did well. No one made Lord of the Rings with a bunch of Black people now did they? So why should everyone else's culture have to be infringed upon by white actors? Give me a BREAK

  • @jowsley0923

    White supremacy 101, lesson #37:

Dodge accusations of white racism by legitimizing your actions under the guise of increasing profitability.

[It may very well be true that actors of color don't sell films as well as their white counterparts. So what does this really tell us about white people (& the general content of their collective character), esp. considering that racial minorities have no reservations about buying tickets to watch "white" films?]

  • I love ur earings...lol ur so funny love the end

  • @323EVANGELYN

Haha, everyone loves the earrings! I think I'mma wear them all of the time! :D

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • dont forget street fighter legend of chun li... perfect idea gon to waste... tsktsk

  • @fLipNserious

I've yet to even see that. lol

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08

dang seriously bro? lol kristin kreuk as chun li... tsktsktsk.

  • OF COURSE Hollywood is racist! The casting call 4 the main cast for Avatar the Last Air Bender called 4 Caucasians while the casting call 4 the extras were open for other races. To say that they couldn't find any Asian actors good enough is offensive. Jesse McCartney was going 2 b part of the Avatar cast but backed out. I find it REALLY hard to believe that there are no Asian actors out there who have better acting skills than him. Hollywood has replaced Yellowface with whitewashing characters.

  • @itsliz89

    Haha, thanks! I concur 100%

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @itsliz89 Did you read the casting list? It's posted and does not say anything about any race. It's funny how All of you are worried about this epic Racist Hollywood but you guys can only mention 3 movies out of a 10 years. Hollywood is so terrible with their crazy racist movies every week oh no! The only color they like is Green. As soon as viewers start paying to see your so called movies the more they will make. It's up to viewers, they don't care who stars as long as they bring in money.

  • Nice cynical tone... Yes I have seen the casting call for the extras and the main cast for Avatar and they do in fact mention race. Most casting calls do.

It's interesting how the majority of people tend to turn the blind eye when it comes to discussions about race because it makes them uncomfortable. Racism doesn't exist in this modernized time! No no no. Maybe if we ignore it it will go away? ...

  • @itsliz89 You guys say it racism but I say it's a business choice or at least a creative choice(which in the US you have the right to have). If I want to make a remake of the Passion of the Christ and make Jesus black who are you to say that it's wrong.I might what to redo Caesar with an all female leads why should you complain. That's like telling Peter he should have used little people in Lord of the Rings. Freedom means freedom. Plus there was no mention of race in any of those documents.

  • Hahahah I JUST thought of that when I saw The Last Airbender commercial today! I was gonna even do a video to that subject too, but you beat me to it. :p

  • I really don't get the hate on this video. It's the simple question of being faithful to the source material. But I also agree that maybe these people were picked based on their acting ability before anything else. Though is takes away from the genuine feel, Hollywood isn't about being racially sensitive, it's about getting money and widening its audience.

  • It's true that the movie industry is whitewashing, but not POP or TLA:

did u know Iranians are considered Caucasian?

Have you been to Iran? most of the people there are not brown

In The last airbender, each nation has a different race:

    Earth Kingdom: Asian and African

    Water Tribe: White and Inuit

    Air Nomads: Mixed race

    Fire Nation: Indian and Mideastern

  • I bet you are still gonna give those "whitewashing" movie producers your money for a movie ticket to see Avatar anyways so why even make a video out of it?

  • @OMFGitsJUSTIN

I see you've resorted to immaturity. Thanks for the debate.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08 I think this video has become rather immature.

You looked at this 12 year old's skin color before his talent or ANY OTHER factor that could of landed him the role.

Tell me how that isn't immature judgement?

    Just saying.

  • @OMFGitsJUSTIN

Please explain Justin Chadwick's qualification for Goku over any Asian dude for DragonBall. And don't give that ignorant "alien" excuse. I rest my case.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • my friend brought up a point when we talked about the DBZ movie and said "goku is this buff badass lookin guy, what asain could make you feel like your whatchin goku" so basiclly Idont think some movies could ever be succesfull animation-to-live action cuz your used to the cartoon

PS. the dragonball movie sucked ass

  • @408Moisexy

I think that "DK" guy from Fast&TheFurious: Tokyo Drift would have been a good fit for him over Justin Chadwick.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • Black people think everything is racist

  • @brokensoul619

I'm Half Filipino/Black. Get it right.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08 wtf are u talking about, i knew that ive been a subscriber since 08 im just saying lol.

  • @brokensoul619

I didn't "get" the comment, then.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • yea, but we'll never see a black Spiderman or an Asian Batman. It is bull, but at least avatar looks like the cartoon, but Dragon Balls was just...I can't even find a bad enough word to type it.

  • RACEBENDERR!!!!!! :/

  • I like your Hello Kitty earrings!!

  • lol the white kid in avatar he is mexican

i looked into it but i could be wrong

    INFUSED IT BAK MUTHAAA RICEATERS!!!!

  • @Guitarboi619

Mexicans are included in the Caucasian category. Hence, on SAT or any standardized test it says, "White-Hispanic" or "White-Non-Hispanic."

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • I think they just screw up and make dumb decisions , they arent just working with white people

  • Quick Google search:

Noah Ringer is a 12-year-old child actor set to star as Aang in the film The Last Airbender, due out in July, 2010. He was born and raised in Texas and holds a first-degree black belt in karate. "At age 12, he holds a first-degree black belt rank and is proficient with a variety of Eastern weapons. He is part of a tae kwon do club"

idk but maybe he actually got the part because he is good at martial arts for a martial arts movie?

    Just saying.

  • @OMFGitsJUSTIN

Yes, he is proficient in Martial Arts, I do not doubt that fact. However, are you saying a black kid with the same qualities should get the role of Ang? In the cartoon, it was understood that Ang was Asian. Anything other than an Asian in the role is akward, and will result like DragonBall.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08 with all due respect. It is easier to pull off an "asian martial arts cartoon character" with, what i have found so far on google "a mixed caucasian/asian 12 year old who is skilled in martial arts and weaponry"

  • @OMFGitsJUSTIN

I saw that, too. It's from a non-legit source. Everything I've read, so far mentions nothing of him being part Asian.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08 Then where does it specify him being strictly white. I would truely like a source because I have checked imdb, wikipedia and even this kids own webpage have only see "American actor" It's feeling to me like this video is a bit bias.

  • @OMFGitsJUSTIN

Isn't everything biased? Regardless of the fact, touché on us not being able to find valid sources.

I do have an article I just posted up in the Description Box since I can't link it here.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08 no i don't think a black kid with the same qualities should get the same role, because with all due respect, i think it's easier to use a white/asian mixed kid for an asian role. Also, it was an open audition in texas. Since you or I don't know who all even auditioned for the role, I think it' unfair to cry whitewashing over something that nobody but the producers know of. Plus since he has the skills needed, seems like the best route

  • @OMFGitsJUSTIN

You proved my point. It's easier to get a White Kid over a black kid, it's more convincing. The role would be more convincing with an all-Asian cast. There are plenty of Asian kids that can perform martial arts better than he. Everything I've read about him being part Asian are on messageboards, which is like saying Wikipedia is the first source everybody should base their knowledge from. The media is whitewashing.

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • @infused08 and you keep proving my point. The audition was done in texas and it was an open audition, he has the skills for the role. You personally don't even know if ANY asian kids even applied for the role or IF ANY asian kids even have martial arts backgrounds. You are pulling a bias video out of thin air and making it an issue, hence why I unsubscribed. You sir, are the one who is "whitewashing" the topic at hand, since YOU can't show me sources that show what IS REAL RACE IS.

  • this whole whitewashing and yellow face thing is getting to the point of stupidity.

hollywood would rather cast a caucasian person, make them wear eyeliner (or god forbid, tape their eyes back) and hope that they pass as an oriental than getting an asian person and not have to spend the money on make up and prostheses.

    producers are incredibly stupid sometimes.

  • @cellmate89

    Haha, most definitely!

    That "Half Pinoy" Kid,

    infused08

  • well i thought of this and they don't want to asian wash all their media either. i think they should just not make the movies in the first place and leave it be.

  • @ChitChatChik it's not about asian washing; it's about sticking close to the original story and the intentions the creators meant it to be. everything in avatar was blatantly asian; culture, architecture and clothing, so why cast the main characters as other than asian and have the villain and extras asian/inuit?

and what's wrong with having an all asian cast?

  • @cellmate89 i get that but i'm not the one with the answers. just saying that if their not gonna have asians then why have it in the first place? ohh wait Moneyy. nevermind..

  • dude, i just htought of how you havent posted in awhile..then i look and you uploaded a vid! WOW.

  • i feel ya bro.. i completely agree, its hella messed up what they do!

  • ahha soo agree !

  • i agree with u man.. the industry is doing that alot.. ive seen that movie DBZ and was apalled they casted that dude to play Goku which sucked.

  • nice :) and welcome back man ^^ *first btw*
