  • Just seen one of those the other day, lots of rain lately , weather they love..

  • @dianemummvideos If thats the case, I dont think I'll ever see another one. It is dry, very dry. .. except where I'm irrigating of course! ;-)

  • lol,..."you must be related to one of them guys in dc, cause ya ain't got much sense",...that's the truth! = )

  • Wow, some STORM ya had over there,....luvin' the sounds of thunder and the rain fallin' down, the wind,...what a STORM,...hopefully before june runs out, we'll be gettin' some great rainshowers like this,...as for that snapper, so snapper's are good eatin'? My grandma back in Bay City, Texas had a problem with these snappers,....mighty fond of newly hatched ducklings, she'd have like 40, maybe 50 ducklings and before day's over,....all eaten up by these critters! *****

  • @qualqui Yea..thunder and rain sounds real good...on somebody elses video ! :-0 I hear the turtle meat is very good, but I havent gotten quite that hungry. And yep..they will eat up darn near everything in and around a pond.

  • this is hilarious!!! Im glad your garden stayed put :)

  • @saritasgarden Thx ! I'm glad it stayed put too...VERY GLAD !

  • That turtle is excellent table fare :) We caught one once that weighed 47 pounds :)

  • @MyHollowpoint I hear its some good meat. For me, I reckon its an "acquired" taste, one that I'll acquire right after the SHTF !

  • Good video update, Bobby--just saw it for the first time tonight. Really nice that the GH is okay. You made out pretty well, in general! I think the BIg Man is watching over you and your good work!!

  • @rickbish1 Thx Rick , I am 100% certain that He watches over and sees everything I do !

  • Hey Bobby my turtle George wont snap off any of my fingers. Might break a toe if I droped him on my foot. LOL

  • @Allen2045 Lol...ah yes, the garden turtle ! He really knows how to be still !

  • Bobby, I am glad ya'll are alright. Ya'll stay safe! Take care and God bless, Catfishchic

  • @catfishchic Thx CFC !

  • Glad you guys were sheltered and safe from the storms. Gardens don't look bad either! As a kid we had a pond beside our house and were ALWAYS finding or catching snapping turtles... You're right... they do a number on the fish!

  • @emsapowell Growing up, if we weren't working, we were at the pond. Dealt with turtles all the time. Lost a lot of hooks...and thats not good when you're poor and dont have but just a few. We made hooks out of straight pins...you had to be quick, cuz with no barb, the fish would slide right off !

  • @mhpgardener we lost a lot of hooks too... but never made one out of straight pins...lol Nice!

  • i am glad yall were safe from the storms last night I keep watching them come our way too. Been pretty bad. LOL I loved the way you yelled when that ol turtle bit your stick like it was your finger. I am just so amazed by your green house. It is just great and I will tell ya those are some of the best tasting tomatoes I have ever eaten:-) love them!!! Turtle are very smart. Thanks for showing us. We are and will continue to pray for those who have been affected by these stormes..

  • @mmlrc6atgmailcom Yea, saw them headed your way last night. Crazy weather. Glad ya'll enjoyed the tomatoes. I haven't had enough bad reports yet ! And the soap came in today. Makes my office smell GOOOOD ! lol

  • Love the DC turtle! Garden and greenhouse looks good.

  • @tech09201 Thanks ! And the corn looks a lot better today.

  • Sorry about the storm, sounds pretty bad. We are having wind and rain right now,it is coming from the south so still warm. Hope it clears up, going to be gone for a few days. These storms are something , huh?

  • @loislaney23 Its been an awful spring for a lot of folks, really unusual. Hopefully it'll be a quiet summer.

  • Slipper hanging up to dry cuz you went out to check things out las nite .lol That was funny lol .

  • @selfreliantboy Brother, you just don't know how hard I work in these gardens ! There was no way I was going to bed without a visual assessment of what things looked like. I had left my boots on the porch and the first storm flooded them. I knew my sneakers were gonna leak, cuz they are torn. So slippers it was ! Darn near lost them a few times in the mud too...they are called slippers for a reason...they SLIP right off ! ! !

  • I love it, I love it, I love it! related to one of those guys in DC!!!

I know what you mean, I live near DC and trust me, they don't know how to get out of their own way.

Your gardens are just wonderful, and Thank the Lord, they are doing pretty great, considering the storm you had. Can you tell me where you got your tomato clips? I would like to try them out. Thanks for the video, Sheila

  • @Sheila6325 Yep..we're from the govt...and we're here to help OURSELVES ! That about sums it up. I get those clips online from Johnnys. There are other places though, so you might want to check around and compare.

  • @mhpgardener Thank you, I have seen them in stores but yours look bigger than the ones I have seen lately, and I have been waiting until I could find larger ones. I will check them out. Bless, Sheila

The small clips have ruined my tomato plants in the past, so I wanted to get it right, before I plant in my new garden.

  • Glad to see things are Ok, the DC turtle is hilarious. Thank You!

  • @bowlmeoverva Thx, I can't resist a little jab at the DC idiots once in awhile ! I did feel kinda bad, putting that turtle in the same group as a bunch of lying theiving politicians. I hope the turtle wasn't too offended !

  • That storm hit us around 5:30 yesterday. I was out there chasing chickens and picking strawberries as fast as I could in all that wind. What part of Virginia are you in? I'm in southeastern VA.

  • @imstillworkin 12 miles west of Emporia..right off 58. We got the first one about 3:15 yesterday...ferocious wind, but it was over in a few minutes. The second one at 9:30 was scary. First time I'd been scared since the tornado went over us in April 2008..I'm sure you remember that day. The wind and rain just kept coming last night, seemed like forever. I didn't get the camera until things had calmed down ! Restless night for sure !

  • @mhpgardener I had a feeling you were in that area based on the color of your soil. My mother was born in Emporia. All of the family lives in Chesapeake now.

  • I'd be snapping too if someone poked a big stick at me after I was washed out of my home. How can you resist being kind to that little fella.. I'm glad you didn't eat him :) Hope your storms ease up and your veg come back ok.

  • @Watsamadoing Now, now..I wasn't poking....merely enticing her to snap. I hate to kill animals that can't do me any harm, so I let her go on her way....since she was going in the OPPOSITE direction of the pond ! I hear turtle meat is really good, though I've never been quite that hungry ;-) And thx...everything looks pretty good..except those 16 rows of corn...knocked down twice in the same day.. :-(

  • lol good vid its looking good

  • @MrVTHILLBILLY Thx HB !

  • That's one angry turtle!

  • @sumip90x They have one side..and its nasty !

  • Man, that was one mean turtle! Glad to hear most everything was okay after that storm. We are at a record high of99F today with high humidity and winds. This heat has been nuts lately! My container tomatoes are suffering from it. :(

  • @jwlrymkr Yea...might have been the heat that got her cranky..or could be the end of the month ! hehe The heat is taking a toll on the GH maters...all I'm trying to do is finish ripening whats in there..if possible. Its not worth the effort of a shade cloth.

  • Several years ago on Memorial day, I found a sand-turtle on the road, a few blocks from the creek, heading toward the road. I picked it up, and it's head lunged a full foot forward, just shy of my nose! I took it back to the creek, and noticed that under it's tail, were a line of egg-shaped bulges. I think it was looking for a place to nest. This it about that time of year.

  • @Helioforge They are like a coiled rattler, very deceptive in their striking distance. Like the sign on a mower deck...keep hands and feet away, lol
