  • You can hack these in Bioshock 14

  • They should put this in cod

  • Battle Los Angeles!!! Drones!

  • @ichbinfarinu

    lol

  • KILL THAT THING WITH FREAKING FIRE, NO, HAVE CHUCK NORRIS PUNCH THAT AND KILL IT...I want my balls safe.

  • who've seen Battle:LA? doesn't this reminds you of the flying alien aircrafts? :)

  • is this a simulation?

  • and these are the people that organised our UK Census 2011

  • I'll pass on that coffee

  • @flyboyy77 Hahaha..............

  • Jesus Christ, the machines are comiiinnnggg!!!!

  • I hate Obama right now, he cancels all the awesome and promising projects D:

  • jkannert is confused. This isn't a test of something that kills people. This is a test of a device that gets launched ahead of an incoming missile and adjusts it's position to ensure a collision. It stands between a nuclear warhead and several million civilians. How is that twisted?

  • That's fucked up!!! Why would anyone wanna make a machine killing people at random? Other than a twisted mind?

  • why not just use vtol?

  • It looks like 3D Max

  • fucking military shit!!!

  • imagine something like that bringing your coffe at the morning;D

  • erm...........is it a machine gun or what?

  • ..its a HUNTER KILLER v.001..

  • amazing!

  • WHAT THE HELL IS IT???????

  • Another one of FEMA's toys.

  • this is cgi.

  • i cold take it out.

  • yes, totally flammable, that's why it catches fire.

  • muppet.

  • is this the new improved chineses fire cracker

  • LOOL

  • loooool

  • That looked like a simulation. That did not look real.

  • Um, if this is meant to take down missiles, why is it called the multiple KILL vehicle?

I'm not gonna lie- I'm pretty uncomfortable. Has Arnold taught us nothing, lol?

  • It's called the Multiple Kill Vehicle because this is supposed to be one of many vehicles to be deployed from a single launcher against incoming warheads. Therefore, it would be able to destroy, or "kill," multiple incoming ballistic missile warheads.

In case you were thinking so, those are not guns. They are rocket engines, but they sound like guns because they operate in short pulses; the digital control system has two engine functions: full thrust or no thrust.

  • Oh, thanks. Yeah, I totally thought they were guns. Thanks for setting me straight. If you don't mind my asking (since you seem to know about it) how would it actually go about destroying the warheads?

  • The video at v=hsPKYDcfw4k would provide a better explanation than I can here.

Basically, there is a carrier vehicle that launches these things and tells them which warhead to destroy. Then, these things will seek out and destroy each of their assigned warheads by collision.

  • In order to star upright, this interceptor would need roll control. Is there use for roll control when skid-to-turn would probably work?

  • Hoooooooly SHIT. That's all i have to say.

  • OR it could shoot people if needed :D

  • holy shit, I fear for american citizens

  • this is the missile defense system interceptor. All that thrust is used to alter the orbit trajectory to intercept a ICBM warhead. Thus the heat will not attract other missiles.

  • You make no sense at all.

"Thus the heat will not attract other missiles." ICBM are not heat guided.

"All that thrust is used to alter the orbit trajectory to intercept a ICBM warhead"

What thrust? Its obviously supposed to get near the ICBM and shoot random shrapnel/bullet in all direction.

    And its a computer simulation.

  • THIS IS NOT A COMPUTER SIMULATION. This is a test at a lockheed martin facility. The thrust generated by the motors alters the initial ballistic intercept path for this missile defense system interceptor. Yes it does spray shrapnel but space is big so you need to get close to the bogey. The heat comment rebukes another comment which seemed to imply that the writer has no idea that this weapon shoots ICBMs and cannot be shot down by something like a stinger missile.

  • It looks like a computer simulation. It's much more affordable to test a prototype using a game engine, then to build it.

Sometimes, videos like this are necessary to pitch an idea to investors, before actually spending money on a prototype.

  • The scenery looks like some game engine do this, but the robot is cool. I don't know if it's FAKE, but I don't wan't to be close if he shoots arousd itself in 1sec. from fly.

  • wow that looks so fake.. just.. odd..

  • thats pretty cool

  • ever fake

  • SOI SOI SOI SOI SOI

  • That looks like some shit I made in gmod

  • Haha, so true.

  • swear to god, for a minute i thought it WAS gmod.

  • they should add microsoft sam saying "lolololol" or "soi soi soi soi"

  • sounds like a robotic interpretation of riverdance..:)

  • Ok. First of all people don't be stupid. Read the link before you comment on how useless this is...The article states that the Multiple Kill Vehicle (MKV) is designed to hunt down multiple airborn missles (aka vehicles) and destory them by firing missles at them. Multiple Kill Vehicle has nothing to do with killing lots of people or cars. And as Marillion said. The explosions are not weapons but the stablizing motors firing off to keep the MKV where it needs to be.

  • Wouldn't the heat from all those stabalizers attract missles to it? And trying to use one at night is like "SHOOT HERE"

  • Those are some good points. I saw somewhere that it was primarily designed for intercepting missiles in space. So I don't know but those issues may not be as important so far out. Also I am guessing it is designed to take out GPS guided missiles and not heat seeking so that may make it a little more effective in space combat.

  • Why then would they need such a device for intercepting missiles in space? *rubs chin*

  • Reply to all... This vehicle shoots ICBMs. In order for a country like N. Korea to effectively fire on us (America) they need to send a warhead into space on a parabolic path which may be GPS guided for the initial launch. The MKV fires on a parabolic trajectory into space towards a warhead fired by a country across the oceans and then uses its kinetic energy to destroy the warhead. It is going way to fast for any heat seeking missile.

  • Waste of money.

  • It's an intercept kinetic kill vehicle, to be launched from a Pegasis from a high altitude aircraft and go screaming towards an incoming MIRV or spy satellite at 20,000 mph, using all that positioning precision to run smack into its target. This was the crux of Reagan's Star Wars Space Defense System, so they've been developing these for twenty years now. This is real. This is current state of the art. Read Aviation Week and Space Technology. If they ever use these in orbit, we'll all be FUCKED!

  • @satweavers

Don't you mean redeemed? At least if anyone tries to launch ICBMs that is? These are just guidance devices for interceptor missiles designed to attack ICBMs, not guidance for ICBMs themselves, those have had sufficient guidance systems to serve their purposes for several decades now.

  • the silent hunter, one can barely notice it's presence, i don't see the point of it.

  • this is actual for space program only.

  • i really dowt this is real. its probably cgi or something.

  • Looks like an enemy from megaman lol

  • this is made for space industry as i air application is to energy intensive mounted with payload splut sput the us already has raptor drone that can hover for as long as the fule lets it

  • imagine if it was firing guns though.. two of them could kill everyone in the room.

  • 100 to 1 it's real :)

  • Wow, a thing that can fly, and hoover around. Yeah. Really awesome. :P

  • so is that just to scare the shit out of people

  • Freaky deaky.

    How does it intercept missiles?

  • According to the Gizmodo artricle, it'll fly into a "cloud" of warheads and decoys and shoot them down individually. Obviously the machine in this video is unarmed, and is a demonstration of the flight control technology. Cool stuff!

  • It isn't firing guns.

That's the sound from the stabilization motors firing.

  • LOL which crazy guy is the camera man

  • hey i think this does do more than multiple kill

  • Lockheed Martin is Skynet.

  • Don't let Sky-Net find out about this.
