  • There's a similar song by Nick Cave and the bad seeds

  • As I recall, in the liner notes for this song it said something along the lines of "The fate of the the Good Samaritan?"

Such a bitterly awesome song; this kind of originality (and, let's face it, wickedness) is why I so love Steeleye Span...

  • I have the original promo photo depicted in the video! Love this song! One of the highlights if Tempted and Tried. Of course, that was the album that brought us Jack Hall (one of their best, thanks Bob) and also Betsy Bell and Mary Gray which is probably my least favourite Steeleye songs. Still, a great album, I'd probably rank it 4th out of all Steeleye's albums after Commoners Crown, Back in Line and They Called Her Babylon. Nice to have these songs posted!

  • This is a great song.Trust No-one. Though I've heard it with more harmonies

  • Never heard this one before, thanks for putting it on You tube. I have fond memories of having tea and biscuits at Maddie's mum and dad's house as they used to live in the same street as me as a wee girl. Only met Maddie briefly though, after gigs etc. she has an amazing, unique voice.
