It's just the nature of of pop culture, everytime a famous person dies the people around them become a living tribute to the person. Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters have nothing to do with Nirvana or Kurt Cobain. Grohl, who was best friends with Kurt, managed to get over Kurt's death, why can't you people?

This isn't a tribute to Kurt. Nor is Friend of a Friend; that was written whilst Dave was still in Nirvana. ie. when Kurt was still alive.

Colour and the Shape was written after Dave married his first wife, I think I've read somewhere that most of the songs are about her. Just listen to the lyrics, especially Everlong, its quite clear which songs are written for her.
