not sure it was a fluke. if it was why did he point to the cue ball after the shot as if he wanted it to stop a bit higher to pot the 9? end of the day, it was not such a tough shot, especially for the likes of busta. anyway...worth the post!!!! cheers
actually i have to agree....there is a possibility actually i would say about a 50 50 chance that he WAS playing a 2 way shot and the cue ball just rolled too far up. my shot idea would have been to play it to the side and only bring the cue ball back a little bit that way if he makes the 6 in the side he has the 9 in the top corner and if he misses the 6 it will be a safe
@BloodyFingerz...1st off, its just RIDICULOUS to compare "triple a players & semi pros" to the TOP pros like Django, they are light years ahead. 2nd, the percentages of making a short rail bank to a side pocket is slim @ best even for django, while the safety on the other hand has a much higher percentage. W/ that said, its not a stretch to say that he had a 2-way shot in mind...once again, UR CRAZY to compare these TOP pros, especially the top pinoys, to ur local players...
bustamante wasn't even proud of that fluke..he was glad obviously for the reason that he won that rack...but that shot was a mistake...if the 6 ball didn't go in, it would have landed anywhere in an easy shot opportunity by the way he hit it. anyways...great player bustamante is.....peace yah all guys!
Pro pool players call this a security shot. Even if its a tough shot for the 6, he's still going for it but if he misses, it still ends up in a safety against the opponent.
no he called the 6 in the side, but it was kind of a 50 50 shot. if he makes it great and if he doesn't he would've gotten safe with the cue ball behind the 9.
no it was obviously the safety...and he was actually unlucky to pot the six...but then he was lucky that his safety wasnt good enough and there was some space between the cue ball and 9 so he could pot it...thats all and obvious, no amazing intended potting into the middle pocket....still amazing player, but this wasnt that case of showing class
i play pool like everyone else from the philippines. i can do that shot. in the philippines, when you play safety, you leave room for actually making a shot. that's why filipinos look like magicians to players from elsewhere.
If you think banking that ball into the side is easier then the corner bank or that Fransico was playing the side bank I can imagine where you stand in the rankings in your country.
Like everywhere else in the world the Philippines has it's champs and has it's chumps.
Only a pool player would know that Bustamante intended it to be a safety, and he totally screwed it up. In fact, he screwed up the safety so bad that he made the ball and got somewhat decent shape on the 9 (instead of the CB hiding behind it).
It was pure defense. A player like Bustamante would never have considered the possibility of making the six in the side; it was extremely unlikely.
Plus he would not have played the cue ball so close to the nine, if he had seen a chance of sinking the six. He was trying for a safety, freezing Horsfal behind the nine. He fucked it up completely but got lucky.
@razone01 these guys arent fluke.. whatever shot they are preparing for whatever kind of spins they apply, they know the effect of the ball and where its going.. Trust me.. I've played in bars and tournaments and played triple a players and semi pros .. That aint fluke..
@razone01 actually dunno. it might have been a fluke but there's a possibility that it wasnt because it wouldn't be safe if it hits that side cushion with that speed and then goes to the end cushion and bounces a bit off the rail.. it would be madeable shot.
@razone01 just because u cant do it even in a million lifetime ur telling this was a fluke? dumbass how can u even play safe in this kind of situation 2 balls left and a safe? fuck u noob
@ThundaLippz Kinda looks like he changed his mind on the english, from center to bottom about the time he pulled the trigger.

you know how hard it is to bank a ball off the short rail into the side? it pretty much has to curve into the pocket. fluke or not, pretty awesome.

That bank was sick....How he went for that pocket and not any of the 3 other corner pockets - 2 banks or cut- is beyond me

the announcer said that bustamante is going for the shot 0:42... that's why bustamante is expecting a better positioning for the 9 ball.

It was a safety for sure - and it would have been a good one. 6 ball would have gone 3 cushions and would have been somewhere behind the 9 ball.
But he made it.

it was not a safety- kids in the philippines do these kinds of shots all the time- the side is easier for bank shots.
vertigo502 2 years ago
Easier for bank shots off the short rail? Have you ever PLAYED pool?
He was trying to play the cueball 2 rails and freeze it to the bottom of the 9, which he missed, but fortunately he made the 6 in the side.

it's funny. people just see it. some people can play mechanically, or, thru feel. the best players are masters of both.
