perfectly legal play. the first pass is ok because receiver wasn't inside the box at the time of the kick. second pass is ok because receiver was behind the ball.

ok for all you retarded americans that dont know about futbol... the reciever must be OUTSIDE of the penalty box at the point of contact with ball. after that, its fair game. if the shooter hits the post he is offsides and cannot touch the ball, but if it deflects of the keeper he is onside.

@geohat185 from a penalty, noone is allowed to be in the 18 yard box except for the kicker and the goalkeeper. the only time when someone else is allowed to come in and touch the ball is after the kicker has touched the ball. otherwise its an illegal play.

If there is only the gk left on the way to the goal, a player is offside if he gets the ball passed when he is in front of the ball! If he is on same height or behid tge ball it isnt offside ;)

No, you're allowed to pass. Any forward motion is allowed. Doesn't have to be at the goal, as long as it's not backwards

It's not offside when its passed, regardless of wether or not there's a defender between the ball and the goal because the receiving player was behind the ball!

it is a penalty cuz he used his hands and everyone is outside the box. Now what i dont understand is if the ball is in play, then the pass would have made that off sides because there was no one (as in a defender) between the goal and the ball when the ball was passed. it's clever but the refs messed up.

Actually Cruyff was behind the ball when it was passed, making him onside. If you watch he makes sure his teammate with the ball is in front of him when the ball is passed.

but he is still offsides, it doesn't matter if the ball was played behind him, the ball was played goal side of the defense with only the keeper thats when the 2nd pass was made. it should have been offsides. league rules may be different, but we go by world cup rules sort of

It was onside. To be offside you have to be closer to your opponents goal-line then both the ball and second last defender.

In this case, he is only infront of the second last defender, not the ball.

The defender was not there to try and appeal for an offside. Because when the ball was passed, it was passed behind the the player who scored was behind the ball. Thus, he was not closer to the opponents goal line than BOTH the ball and second last defender. He was only closer to the opponents goal line than the second last defender :)

Whoever is saying that it is a freekick - you are a fucking idiot. All you have to do with a penalty is make sure the ball moves forward, and that no one else is in the box apart from the kicker and the goalkeeper. No-one passes a penalty because of the risk; you are far more likely to score by taking a shot rather than passing to a teammate.

Arsenal tried this a few times in 2005. It didnt work once. Its on youtube. Pires took the penalty.

A penalty kick is just a direct free kick. The executing player MUST kick to goal and not pass.
