Note: Hamsters do not fight with other hamsters but if you bought them like the first one was at the cage for a long time and then you bought a second, they will fight as the first hamster take it as it is it's territory...

@tzxhi23 I'm sorry, but that's wrong. Once most species of hamsters reach sexual maturity they WILL begin to fight and test each other to figure out who's the "King of the Habitat", so-to-speak. Robos are known to get along fairly well but they are just as capable of killing their cage-mates. Sometimes you get lucky and you can have two hamsters in a habitat together for a year, but inevitably there will be fighting. It's best not to have the kids discover a beloved, beheaded hamster, though.

@tzxhi23 yes actually they do fight, they are not meant to live together once they get mature. i had two in one cage and they got older and fought and one killed the other while i was not in my room. only littermates can live together and that's only for a short amount of time, not for life

I know other people have said this, but I just want to add in.

Yes, Robos are small hamsters, so their cages don't need to be really big. But if you own that many, and are keeping them all in the same cage, they really need a bigger cage. A 20 gallon tank would probably be best.

I know this won't help since this video was posted 4 years ago and all those hamsters are dead, but I'm just putting my opinion out there.

1. You can't hold more hamsters in one cage. (Sometimes you can do it with cambels or roborovski's). They will bite eatchother.

2. This cage is to small.

3. When the hamsters are grow up............ The cage is really to small.

It looks like they are playing together and one of them fall on his back it means that he is giving up the one whos standing is the winner i think you saw that sometimes. Think about the way you are holding them and the cage is pretty wrong too :)

@Karmarsi Hamsters need room. That doesn't mean you have to spent tons of money at petco for the largest cage. Just buy a large bin and put natural toys in it. Create places to hide, bath (sand) and dig. hell, even a large cardbox does well as playground for smaller hammies like robos. connect diffrent boxes with cardboard rolls and you have a modular playground. it doesn't need to be as large as in the vid "dwarf hamster paradise", just see the difference between bright plastic and natural toys

and @cheacky15 it depends which type of dwarf hamster you have... chinese, russian, fancy russian, winter white, robo, etc. they all have different temperaments. but as a general rule, you should only keep dwarves together if they were raised together. otherwise they will most likely fight

I thought hamsters didn't like living with other hamsters? My friend got a hamster after I got one, (both of the hamsters were female) and we thought it'd be fun to put them in a cage together so they could play. Turns out, they hated each other's existence and they started rolling around banging against the cage like crazy. SHE found it funny, but it wasn't HER hamster that got a giant ass bite mark on her back...ahem, anyway. So would it have to be opposite sex, or is it just family?

Your hamster and your friends hamster must've been SYRIAN hamsters.

SYRIAN hamsters are solitary animals, which basically means that they like to live alone.

The hamsters in the video are dwarf hamsters, and these can live with other of its kind.
