All of the money does go to big agribusiness. I think people would eat healthier food if it was less expensive. I heard the new farm bill is an improvement, but it still gives a fortune in tax dollars to agribusiness for growing foods people should eat less of. Meanwhile, Americans health is one of the most outrageous areas of government spending. Go figure.
CUT OFF the subsidies, reduce tariffs on fruits and veggies, and watch cheap imports flood in. Incidentally, you'll also reduce the incentive for illegal immigration, and reduce government spending all at the same time.
Its not like subsidies help "the American family farm" very much anyway.
More government spending is not needed for the consumer to eat healthy.
