I did not use that way its to hard i just make a dark roon 30 blocks and surraund the place with glass leave 1 block of space make a corent of water and make a working collecting room and drown the monsters

..just finished but no monsters are spawning at the top room, im a good 300 blocks from spawn(thank you minecart) and the top room is very very dark, but when i look or even press f3 there is nothing up there:( is there anything you could tell me to change or check

Its because the lava leaves some light through the holes in the sides

@carlrowbs how big is it? if its to small they won't spawn. also make sure there are no leaks where light can get in,the one i'm currently building had that problem. Try turning it to peacful go into your trap and look around and if you can't see a thing then its dark enough but if you can make out enough to walk around safely then try patching up some stuff. Also you have to make it out of cobblestone(not sure why but thats how it is i'm afraid)

@01superdude how many rooms? is it completely dark? and you need to be atleast 24 blocks awayfor them to spawn. put torches in the caves under the trap so monsters don't spawn there and next time it'l help if it's in the ocean i think.

Monsters can spawn in 16x16 because i had that problem with my main tower.... creepers were spawning INSIDE it.

@thetanking Normal spawns more mobs, but on Hard there are mostly Creepers, so it depends whether you want mostly Feathers or mostly Gunpowder.

umm.. built the killing floor and the first spawn floor... but the mobs dont spawn... i know u have mentioned that it needs to be 7 floor high.... so basically i just keep building upwars until the seventh floor and the trap should work?

@elpopepr yup, you also might want to fill the outside areas with torches and light to force mobs to spawn in the trap, same with surrounding caves,,

another thing is the place were you collect your drops needs to be at least 25 blocks away from the trap because you have more chance of them spawning that way... hope this helps

best place for a monster spawner is in the middle of the sea from skyline to almost bedrock, and make sure the loot comes directly to your house, built one on multiplayer and its insane (50x50)
