  • "EWWWEEEEEEE DOGIE'S!!!"

"That's ah mighty fine a pickin n ah diggin."

Cheers brother, I wish I could play as you.

  • eh..

  • people with relative pitch can figure this out. As long as you have you can look at the guitar you should be fine. Plus, he has the sheet music for it on his website.

  • haaaaaaaaa nice one. just made this song very learnable for standard guitar. absolute dude.

  • To the person who posted the comment about tuning a=444. I did that and it actually does sound better. I have a cheaper guitar but it sounds right now. Thanks

  • jazz too?! your fucking amazing

  • just amazing O.o

  • This video's helpful for anybody who wanna play along with the song and when they don't have any baritone guitar.

  • @kecapasinlombok wich is about 99 percent of the guitar playing population. Good video.

  • reminds me of John Martyn for some reason

  • thank you,

now i can play along with this video without changing my guitar tuning !!!

  • Good thinking bro

  • whats with all the hate comments? lol. Great Vid, helped me learn song a bit too!

  • Don't call it tuning if all you are going to do is show off! If I want to watch guitar playing, I would do that :/

  • my fingers are bleeding of learning heathers song

  • Ah, useful : ) Thank you. Very good for practicing the song or figuring it out for those like me who don't want to retune the guitar. I'm glad there are even tunes of him you can play in standart tuning. The last tune I learned (Rylynn) I had to rewrite completely for standart tuning. That took alot of time and nerves (and it did'nt work that well with the harmonic/tap part in the end).. so I'm happy about that ^_^

  • I don't care about all the hate comments this is beautiful to listen too!

  • Thank you for this video

  • one thing that really freaks me out about this song is that he totally mixes up his right hand position on the strings. i mean sometimes his 3 finngers sit on the e-b-g strings and the thumb plays the 3 bassstrings (which is the official classical technique) and then he switches to 3 fingers on b-g-d strings and thumb on A or E. and i think he switches that almost every 2 bars. im tired of figuring that out and im pretty confused after watching his thumb like 3 hours now -.-

  • What about tuning down a whole step?

  • @MrFaulconbridge its standart

  • The tuning IS standard if you play with a regular guitar. Andy plays with a baritone guitar, a type of guitar with longer strings or something like that that makes it sound a little lower than an actual real guitar. Or so what I've heard. I've been learning the song for 2 weeks now, it sounds fine with my regular guitar in standard.

  • this song gave me blisters on my right hand..

  • Very helpful, thanks man.

And by the way how did you raise the pitch?

  • Fantastic music, I wish he sang a little to this... at least a few words

  • Thanks for this upload... For a while I was tuning down my acoustic each time I played this, which of course went through strings like no-one's business... This is just what I needed to help me learn it in standard!

  • sick man :]

  • FANTASTIC, you're the man boss..

  • yeah!.. thats nice!..

  • standard tuning is better... depends on your tuning.

  • Thanks for this man and sorry for the retards who dont know what your doing.. haha

Please keep doing this if there are any more that you can transpose to standard! Thanks again

  • Good job dude! i got it! haha! thank you so much! ^_^.

i won in the contest when i did it ! lol. haha!

we'll i learned it from you bro!.. ^_^

  • this man is a beast

  • I like this song better then the original. There's a tuning difference, but this video sounds better.

  • The song in the other guitar is in the same standard EADGBE tuning, but maybe a fifth lower I guess (ADGCEA), Baritone guitars usually have longer scale length and slightly bigger bodies and reinforced necks so they can bear bigger string gauges at normal tension. And they are expensive, but they're worth it...

  • @kobuden It's actually BEADF#B

  • @WillGuitar96 thanks dude, you saved me some trouble, it's been a long time since I last put my hands on any guitar, and my ears aswell as my fingers are seriously rusty.

  • @kobuden no problem :D

  • fantastic!

  • You idiots, The song is ALWAYS is standard tuning but Andy uses a baritone guitar which is octaves deeper so you can't play along with him.. Thanks alot dude, this vid really helps!

  • TAB!?!?!?!

  • But you can play it in standard tuning... I CAN! No one is really wrong in whatever way you play it, Standard or not.

  • I think you're lying, you just hacelerado the time of the song

  • @bahiaseeds

    I've been caught. Game over.

  • @mwahaha91 :)

  • Is there any musical terms for this?

  • @griewmdmuaLS search "transpose"

  • mate good job on this i like playin with himon my guitar lol lol wel dne thnx

  • He's using a baritone guitar in the original. This video was edited for those who don't have baritone guitars, and want to hear how it's supposed to sound with a standard tuned guitar, like me. Essentially they're the same, but the pitch is different, hence baritone, lower than a tenor, higher than a bass. I don't know what you fuckers are fighting about. Bitchin' returds.

  • @tempuramonster the noob below believes you can't play this in standard tuning with a regular guitar. he thinks that it would be a B# rather than a B for the second string. He obviously doesn't understand what he's talking about and your right, its exactly the same!

  • @Bearsworth8 Go check out the tabs for ebon coast, its BEADF#B,if this was standard tuning, wouldnt the 2nd string be tuned B#?Yes it would, thus, turning the song into a horrible mess when hitting notes on the 2nd string.Eat it.

  • @powningdanoobs You obviously do not understand what your saying.BEADF#B is standard tuning. Example: B-C-C#-D-D#-E your moving each note 5 half steps up to get to standard. you can do that with the F# too. F#-G-G#-A-A#-B. Exactly 5 half steps. This guitar style is similar to playing a regular guitar, its just that it has a different pitch as mentioned. That doesn't mean you can't play it differently on the regular guitar, go watch all covers, you can play it with exactly the same covering.

  • @powningdanoobs Do you understand the reason for posting this song now? Its for people that want to hear what it sounds like in standard tuning on a regular guitar so they can practice - playing it exactly the same way. Now I realize why mwahaha and Wraith only left you single word comments, wasted my time explaining to someone that has no idea what he's talking about.

  • @Bearsworth8 my bad,i realize now i wasnt really making any sense, but what i just meant was andy mckee wasnt PERFORMING the song in standerd tuning

  • @powningdanoobs hahahaha what a noob.

  • @powningdanoobs wow ur retarded, there is no such thing as B# and it would be a B. and calm the heck down. ur over reacting so much.

  • @accidentproneking im really tired of people correcting me of what i said and calling me dumb, like u.U obviously didnt see that i admitted to myself that i was incorrect, what i originally said was that this video wasnt andy mckee PERFORMING this song on standard tuning, and some kid told me to get my ears checked because it was, which made me get all confused so i starting blabbling about shit i didnt know what i was talking about.I know i was incorrect.Know whats going on before u post a comment.

  • Thanksthanksthanks! : )

  • i have to say though,it sounds alright

  • Just so you know, I literally hit the E note with a tuner to see if it sounds the same at 0:15-and beyond.

  • @Bearsworth8 do u even play guitar,if that was standard tuning, meaning eadgbe, andy mckee's fingers would be going blazing through his frets, but no,in this video, its the same exact placements as it is in his other videos of ebon coast,NOT standard tuning.DAMN im good.

  • @powningdanoobs are you kidding me?? Is this statement is supposed to be serious or are you being sarcastic because you can play the same thing musically with exactly the same finger location. You obviously don't play guitar if you are being serious about "blazing through his frets" maybe you should learn some of his songs before you act like you know what you are talking about. This goes for Tight Trite Night as well.

  • @Bearsworth8 this isnt andy mckee playing it in standard tuning! Its just the person that posted this video made the video high pitched, how about u open up to internet pages, put them side by side, and watch the standard tuning video and the normal video,SAME EXACT MOVEMENTS,SAME CLOTHING,SAME VIDEO,BUT EDITED.

  • @powningdanoobs ur a moron

  • You're all a bunch of dumbasses you don't a baritone guitar to play this song, yes it will make it sound better but it isn't required, Baritone guitars only do what the name says, Its a baritone so it gives it a lower and thicker sound thats it. If you play this song on a regular scaled neck It will not matter and as long as you play the song correctly it will still sound good. Anyone who says you need a baritone is an ignorant dip shit. It only makes it sound dreamier. Jeez.... THIS IS SIMPLE!!

  • i think this is a great idea so all you assholes can jsut shut up

  • fuck the haters mwaha91. what you did is fine. all these idiots that dont know the guitar should know that you can play it in standard tuning, it just wont sound as....dreamy. Baritone standard is only a perfect 4th down from standard.

  • madre mia es asombroso q alguien como andy mckee pueda hacer con la guitarra musica tan especial q cautiva a cualquiera q lo oiga......

increible de verdad., espero q siga asi

  • queston!

im learning this song right now, in the normal tuning that he uses, and it sounds just fine im just using thicker strings to reduce the buzz in the base notes. WHY DOES EVERY SAY YOU NEED A BARITONE? trust me, thicker strings on a standard guitar will work.

  • @powningdanoobs

    Right.

  • hahaha, this guy doesn't know what hes talking about at all, haha

  • @powningdanoobs

its in standard tuning bro, check your ears.

  • @powningdanoobs

The original tuning that McKee used is essentially the standard guitar tuning but every string is tuned down to provide that great "Andy Mckee" deep tone. So pitching the song higher is what the song would sound like if played in standard tuning.

  • @powningdanoobs Oh god. We do have some numpties in this world.

  • I really like the sound of this song. It's one of Andy Mckee's best. Its actually pretty cool theres a video posted of the standard tuning version because im going to learn it. And well I dont have a baritone guitar :-)

  • Thank you!!!!! This will make it easier to learn :)

  • That's pretty cool how do you do that? Just heighten the pitch of all the strings?

  • thats so good dude. keep playing

  • Are there any more Mckee songs you can transpose to standard tuning??

  • Only the ones that are in relative standard tuning are viable because software has been used to higher the pitch.

    Nathan

  • very useful for learning, thanks

  • @Fischize

It's not meant to be an ear pleaser. It's meant to be an aid for those who want to learn this song on a regular guitar.

I'm sorry I can't afford expensive audio software to do this or that I refuse to pirate them. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

  • Fischize, get back to your Guitar Hero you ignorant pleb.

Thanks mwahaha91, this kinda thing is priceless to us who appreciate it. Your "Heather`s Song" vid was a huge factor in my learning of that tune. I don`t think I could have learnt how to play it without that. HUGE Thanks!!!

  • @mwahaha91 but still i thik intsond SO SICK

tis song woul be the pfect chick pleaser and ive leanrd so that are pretty advanced too

  • @mwahaha91 thanks a lot man. i really needed this to help me in learning this song :)

  • @mwahaha91 I, for one, think it is quite useful. although I just ended up tuning down to B, I tried this with my own software first. and this sound quality is better than what I had even

  • @mwahaha91 people dont realize anything these days...anyone who actually had an interest to use this video to learn the song knew exactly what u did so just ignore any idiots who dont understand what this vid is about.

  • @clevelandtyler2 Fuckin' damn straight brother.

I'm using it to learn how to play it man, and I knew exactly what the poster had done with this video.

Fuck man there are so many fuckin' idiots out there who don't know how to use their freakin' eyes, let alone their brains. SHIT.

This video has helped ALOT with learning the song, regardless of the fact that I could easily tune down to B.

  • @mwahaha91 for me its pleasing to my ears every notes comes from guitar the player itself...

  • you rock !!!!!

  • such an amazing musician... two hand taps are perfect, the tone is absolutely amazing. i play metal and i was happy i just learned 5 string sweeps, this makes me wanna pick up my acoustic, your such a great inspiration and a very talented guitarist. keep up the fantastic work

  • wow thats hot!!!

  • such good control of the instrument...

  • even though you rasied the pitch

this REALLLY help me on trying for figure it out

by ear and in standard tuning

    thanks :)

  • The world would be a much darker place without Andy Mckee.

  • Thanks man now i can try to figure it out by ear

  • you just raised the pitch of the video.

  • @Wrathofa7x

    and...?

  • wow man can u believe people are still saying this stupid stuff about this video? i still applaud you for doing this man made it alot easier for me to learn! keep it up!

  • @Wrathofa7x who cares it helps alot

  • So I'm trying to learn this, however I am having MAJOR trouble.

It's not the chords, it's the harmonics, tapping, and picking.

Then again I've only been playing for a month and a half now...

Still an awesome goal to set!

  • comments say that this is standard tuning in a non-baritone guitar, which doesnt seem to be true, anyone got any ideas. I know Baritone guitars are in a standard A but im thinking Im confused, cos I tried tuning to A and still wasnt getting the sound.. anyway HELP? :)

  • @Nedasm: Just tune it to the regular EBGDAE

  • this is standard tuning on a normal 6 string guitar ( not the same tuning on a baritone guitar) the standard tuning for a baritone guitar is BEADF#B ( the original tuning for a baritone)when u buy a new baritone that will be the tuning BEADF#B not the normal 6 string standard tuning

  • how is that in your head?

  • you are amazing man!!! keep up! greetings from Germany!

  • i want to be able to compose songs like andy, idk how in the world he does it, i dont think much people know how he can compose such great fingerpicking songs

  • Anyone who has a bit of knowledge about guitar tunings should know that baritone guitars are usually tuned to Beadgb which is 5 steps down from standard (Eadgbe) so you would play this song on the same frets regardless of baritone or standard tuning with the only difference being the song sounding higher pitched than the original.

  • Anyone who lectures others about guitar tunings would know that baritone guitars are not BEADGB, but in fact are tuned in BEADF#B

    Just my .02

  • notice i used the word "usually" wihch states that i didnt mean the tuning was used exclusivley.

  • Haha good try. You said standard tuning five steps down is BEADGB. Wrong. It's BEADF#B. And you also clarified your definition by explaining that you could play this song on the same frets on a normal acoustic guitar. If you tried playing this song on a guitar that was tuned BEADGB it wouldn't work.

You should check on your own understanding of tunings my friend ;)

  • lol you showed him.

  • Pro guitarist here. +1 for your .02

  • BEADF#B?

The difference between a sharp and a flat is when your progressing up or down the fret board, Sharp for going up the fret and Flat for going down it, so I'm not seeing how you can...

Oh wait never mind. Thinking wrong here.

    B, B#, C, C#, D, E, F#...

    Okay.

  • yes, but um.. there is no such thing as B#.. there is a natural half step between b and c, just as there is no E# because of the natural half step between E and F... Cb is a remote key and there is not enough room here to explain that... Get a book dude, or take a class.. it would help you out a lot.

  • nope, B# is C I'm afraid. It does exist. it has a different harmonic function eg as the leading note to C# despite being enharmonically equivalent

  • is this an actual song or are you just freestyling?

  • I'd rather have this be the only song i'm able to play this perfectly ..

Than to be able to play all the songs in the world except this one

  • I love the one little mistake he makes at around 4:43 and he knows it, raising his eyebrow in a quiet little "dammit" and then just pushes on. What a true artist. Not one person in 100 million can play like this guy.

  • Bought the tabs today and i got to 38 seconds so far :) My acoustic guitar sucks so the intro is kinda hard

  • my guitar is classical guitar

can i do taht like him??

  • yes and no I played it on a classical guitar at Long and Mcquade. It sounded ok but classicals are a lot softer so it is rare to find one with loud natural harmonics, they come off more muffled than anything. The tapping solo was also very quiet but a pickup would solve every problem .

  • sure you can.

I can play it on classical.

  • I think that this would be easier on a classical guitar.

  • this song isn't meant for classical guitar but for acoustic steel guitar. Even if you can try... it's all about the emotion of it... Andy composed it on acoustic steel so that's how it is meant to be :)

  • damn..that was great! (:

  • Ive got it all accurately figured out by ear and now I'm at the 2:00 tapping part and i don't even want to start ;_;

  • lol i know what you mean

try starting with the right hand tapping the bass notes first then move on to the left hand ( the hard one ) and start slow now that you don't have to think about your right hand anymore it will be much easier.

that worked for me learned the song in about 6 hours but it took me over a month to perfect it.

    good luck , \ , , /

  • haha thanks dude

  • jesus...

  • i agree with the 'left nut' comment.

  • bad ass

  • for just listeners listen to the original version of this video.. this is made for who wanna play this thing.. original tune is far more intense..

  • Чувак исполняет на все 1000% , большой респект))) с большим приветом из Москвы***

  • I would give my left nut to be able to play this song!

  • Has Andy released this standard version on any albums? If not can someone please tell me where I can get it? Thanks.

  • does andy use a baritone on his songs like drifting and the actual version of this song where the tuning is i believe open Dm, or open Dsus4, i cant remember

  • I know he uses a baritone for the regular version of Ebon Coast, and for Drifting he uses a standard guitar in DADGAD tuning I believe.

  • that was sick! great job!
