Well, one thing I don't understand is why a professional pilot like yourself would get an RTF plane when you probably have your own equipment which are 10 times better..
However I do like your saying at the end, but by now you should have every lesson in flying memorized ten fold, keep them coming cant wait to see the next excuse and crash. OH there is one tip I havent seen in a crash yet, if your trans batteries are low dont change them in flight....I know I know poor design to have the batteries in the back of the radio but we'll just have to accept it. lol
I do love your videos, not for the reasons your fluak of sheep do but because of ALL your crashes for a man that boost his ego so much on his page. If ya havent checked lately 99% of trans are set up this way, but yet again another excuse for the crash, poor design we know not you. And who pulls their throttle hand to trim there right stick? throttle up, nose up, trim with right hand untill apex then return to stick. The old Kraft radio you show isnt todays design for a reason, it sucks.
After your video on radio ergonomics , switch position .... this happens... will you be using your spectrum radios on everything from now on.
+++ Dave have you tried applying to be a youtube partner, They give you a percentage on the advertising revenue ...After all you deserve something back for your hard work and sevice to the world of R.C
But seriously though thanks for sharing I have always been worried about doing this with different transmitters I have had over the years. I agree with you it is a very poor design much to easy to turn off. Maybe try removing the slider part on the top of the switch.
Sorry about the plane but you are still the best in my book! Thanks for sharing all of your great videos with us.
DAVE! Why are you still flying with RTF transmitters?! lol Grab some spektrum clone RXs from hobby king and use your computer radio :P I like the Airfield line up too but I heard the full flying stabs on those 15s where pretty sloppy. Yours good? I think the Airfield F-4 and F-16 70mm are probably the best ones, I fly the F-4, very impressive.
Seems like that even after years and years of experience, and just when you think you've seen (and learned) nearly everything there is about something, something comes along to to make you realize you'll never know it all or figure it all out!
I know I dont like the digital trim on these new radio's they do not respond very well and have to keep pressing it over and over. I have crashed a plane or 2 over just adjusting trim, never shut off radio though LOL>
At least there wasnt some kid there that is usually on riddelin saying "WOW! WHAT HAPPENED? CAN YOU FIX THAT? WOW! BET THAT WAS EXPENSIVE! WOW! THAT WAS COOL! CAN YOU STILL FLY IT? I am all for kids at the airstrip but parents need to teach thier kids proper post crash ediquite.
wow, now thats something that doesnt happen everyday. shutting off the transmitter has seriously never crossed my mind.....but now i know,....lol, great video!
I crashed my Airfield F-15 because the banana connectors that come with these planes and batteries did not fit well. I put the battery in and began to fly and it somehow came loose in mid air and sure enough everything that goes up must come down. These banana connectors are the worst!
Makes me feel good to know that even the experts can do the yard dart maneuver now and then ;-)
I'm good at bending prop shafts myself. Even if I have prop saver I can still bend the shaft by nose diving straight into the ground. You can trust me I am an expert!
@NightFlyyer0:39 It was: ¡¡¡MAY DAY, MAY DAY, IS NOT RESPONDING, IM GOING DOWN, THE CONTROLS ARE JAMM!!! MAY DAY, MAY DAY. OOOOH SSSSSHIIIT..... Great video Dave. It hapen to every of us in one time or another. Sorry for my writing. Saludos desde México. I love ur videos

@Allexxx96Reloaded Well, it's something like (I hope I'm writing correctly) "Everytihing who could go wrong, It goes wrong" Saludos desde México Alex
i agree with you 100 percent and have wandered why the on/off switch is always in the middle, and it goes to show that alot of patience and alot of glue will get you trough
F-15, very nice plane I have the same version but in a different paint. Extremely fun to fly but yea, gotta keep your eyes on them no sight seeing or transmitter gazing allowed lol. Great vid as always.
Always use your own radio equipment! You have 3 DX6is, why didn't you use one of those? If you do for some reason want to use the included transmitter then put a new, better quality switch in. Or just get the T4A from Hobby King, both are good.
I was fliyin my trex 450 clone and one of the battery of the transmitter fall in my foot the heli was to hight in the air so I got a super crash I forget to put the back cover of the transmitter Sorry for my bad english
Sorry to see a crash, Mr Herbert. As you are saying - this transmitter power switch is just plain silly design! Shame to lose a perfectly nice plane to an issue like that... either way - thanks for sharing :)
I always trim the stick with the corresponding hand. I never reach across. Then again I suppose its easier with a pult transmitter, you dont have to grip the entire thing. ;) Bummer about your plane, she was a looker.
I totally agree! Poor design. Sorry to hear about your crash but as you know, it is all a part of the hobby, and every crash is a lesson! Thanks for sharing and as always, happy and safe flying friend.
oops, too bad Dave but nobody got hurt (except for your fingers when repairing, auw !, hope you are ok) and that is the most important thing in my book, it happens to the best,. We live and learn and keep flying ! LOL
I've been wondering several times why the trims are not crossed, 'coz it makes little sense to let go of the stick that has the problem, but I just thought I was being stupid.
Dave Im sorry but that was funny/ not the glue gun burn though. I just had a twin engine dynam skybus. that one engine would cut in and out and then torque roll would follow which was during my trimming process and I trimmed it right into the ground w hen the engine came back on no more twin engine electrics for me
That's why I just use me DX7 for all my planes. I am comfortable with the transmitter and with all the switches. I have burned myself many of times with my glue gun. I personally favor CA for foam repair but hot glues works good too.
Dave, nice and learning video but can you do one video on the whole repair steps you took next time that would be very helpful, watch your fingers next time okay, take care
Ouch! Gotta watch those things that bite. What a bummer crash but thanks for the lesson at your expense. I hope it sticks with me. By the way, what's the fix, change out the receiver so the plan flies on your trusty DX6 or a spring loaded hatch door over the power switch? If anyone can figure it out, it's you.
I bet you've saved a ton of others from crashing their planes! It does appear to be very easy to do. I was gonna quote that old saying about a carpenter blaming his tools.... but I agree about the bad design.
@slvmnr Thanks. So true. Some Manufacturers have already move the switches, etc, but still nothing standard is coming out of China. It was a good lesson for me. I will probably just change to my DX6i and use it instead. Thanks again.
duh, duh, duh, another bites the dust..........at least its all fixed now......why dont you just create another transmitter like the CRAFT one you made all that time ago......your could put in the components of a dx6i........that would be the best thing to do.
@helinewbee Thanks kindly. If it helps just one person by learning from my good and bad experiences, it is worth it to me. I appreciate your comments.
Just buy the fuselage section from nitro planes cut off the broken section and glue on the new section. I've done it a couple of times. 25.00 for the part and you have a good jet to fly again.
@rcplanes1234 Thanks kindly sir. I appreciate your recognition of my quote. I've sure had a lot of tests and lessons and as you can see. But I'm still learning, just like today.
@symawd Thanks. I went to Hughes Aircraft Solder Certification school, and many have asked about me showing some tips, so stay tuned and Ill see what I can come up with.
This is a great plane. Got one for my 17th birthday and it fly's great. The on/off switch doesnt pose a problem as long as you pay attention.
