This is utterly insane, I'm amazed at the support the people who have commented on this video are giving to this women's argument. I'm not American so you can ignore me if you want, but if you call public health entitlement "slavery" then that's like being robbed in front of a police officer, begging them for help and the police officer saying "what do I look like, your slave?".
Reps & Senators in the 112thcongress who honored their Oath of Office by voting in a manner that supports & defends the US Constitution & your liberty 100% of the time: Sue Myrick NC, Ron Paul TX, Phil Roe TN, B Posey FL, C Mack FL, Tom McClintock CA, Raul Labrador ID, T Huelskamp KS, T Johnson IL, W Jones NC, A Harris MD, T Graves GA, John Duncan, JR TN, Jeffery Duncan SC, J Campbell CA, J Chaffetz UT, J Amash MI, Rand Paul KY! 18 of 535 on ur side-vote with care-Ron Paul 2012
To think that there are people like this in our governments across the nation at all, much less lead my state's congressional delegation, is mind-boggling.
The Bill of Rights does not contain a list of rights that are given to the American people by the government. Instead it provides a list of the rights that are inherently ours, and they can’t be taken away by the government. M Connelly 2011
Her argument is absolutely ridiculous. Having a law that requires a service be offered is most certainly not the equivalent of slavery. If that were true than everyone in the auto insurance, food safety, police and fire department, and in fact elected office are "slaves" - these are all services which legally must be offered. I also find it ridiculous that someone like this asks a question but refuses to listen to an answer. The infringement of privacy issue is important, but this argument fails
@Normanrs2004 Her argument does not fail, though the slavery aspect of it does. Her question about what limits there are if Obamacare is constitutional is spot on. Once we allow something like this in the name of "general welfare", what end could there be?
@goldenchopsticks Mailmen can quit their job. If you accept the responsibility of handling mail you agreed to it. USPS is doomed anyway. loses 9 billion a year. I will laugh when FedEx takes it all over. The laws of economics dictate that it will end, besides we have e-mail.
Yea, an attorney confronting a politician about constitutional law. Gee, I wonder who is more qualified here... A burnt-out politician or an attorney mother who is concerned about her children's future?
@cvminutemen I don't know about "qualifications", but our hearts don't seem to be in the right place when we argue against the welfare of our fellow countrymen. Sure, the health care reform is a giveaway to insurance companies, but shouldn't the argument focus how we can better care for those who can't afford it? I think that it's downright embarrassing that a nation this prosperous lags the world in providing it's citizens low cost solutions to the most basic human needs. But what do I know?
We need safety nets, but the "safety nets' commonly become a way of life and are paid for by the 50% of us who actually pay taxes. We have no choice but to pay (our money is taken under threat) and many of us 50% are sick of paying for other people's problems and short falls in America. Life is tough.
@cvminutemen "safety nets' commonly become a way of life" Where is the proof of this? I hear it again and again. Sounds like an excuse. There's an overall lack of respect in this country that's bred out of racism, lack of trust, intolerance and misunderstanding. There are low-lifes in every society based on the kind of inequality we have in America. There is no proven way to make poor people self-sustaining. So you have 2 choices: let them suffer and bring the rest of us down, or be pro-active.
Why is it always about lack of respect, racism, intolerance, etc with you liberals? How about that people will be people & when lots of money is at stake, many will take advantage of the situation? 44 million people are on food stamps - that's a record. I've seen people buy groceries with stamps & jump into a brand new car. Here's just one story I quickly found online.
@cvminutemen "You people"? I tried to be civil with you but you just proved my point. See, it's about working together. Not apart. Someone has convinced you and others who believe what you believe that you better hold on to everything you got because everyone's "scamming" the system. And once again, where are the numbers? I don't mean the occasional article, but the cold hard numbers. A record # of people on food stamps? You better believe it! Why don't you go ahead and cut minimum wage then?
I said that MANY will take advantage of the system. And I didn't say "you people". I said "you Liberals". How is that "uncivil"?? The fraud is out there and easy to find. I gave you just one example. Look for yourself, if you think you can handle the truth...
@cvminutemen My mistake.Either way, you made a judgement about me based on one comment. First off, I'm not a liberal. They are the problem. They are interested mostly in the perception of things, not real change. Secondly, I didn't vote for Obama, I voted Nader. Let me see if I can pigeonhole you. Libertarian? Tea Partier? More interested in picking on the poor than any one white collar crime that could equal the amount of this dreaded "food stamp abuse"? It's super easy to pick on the poor.
@cvminutemen And what may I ask is your vision for society? All for themselves? How exactly does that work? You do not have any tolerance for those who are not like you. You have 2 choices: accept that there are winners and losers in the world and deal with it for the betterment of all, or hoard your money and live out where you don't have to pay into any system. Is that what you would like to do? Do you not understand how you are being ripped off daily by the super rich? Help me understand you.
@cvminutemen Here are some of the people who'll also be needing assistance. Did you think of them? finance[dot]yahoo[dot]com/banking-budgeting/article/113254/extreme-debtors-cnnmoney?mod=bb-debtmanagement
Pete Stark is the coolest congressman. First the guy is an atheist. Second he mocks the morons who claim to be constituional experts, but haven't read it out. Why can't this guy be my congressman?
In addition to my comment, he is not the government so wtf can he do about it? and the government can do a lot of things, they just choose not to so blame them; not him.
GURRRLL, go educate yourself.
That is also a problem in some areas where people try to argue on topics they dont know about and some are easily manipulated into thinking some things because they are not educated.
So to everyone:
Be careful when you are being fed information. Dont take it as the truth unless it is proven.
Health care are done by practitioners in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy. In other words, THESE ARE PEOPLE WHO GET PAID. These are jobs. Some of those people get paid a lot.
Next, a slave is defined as a property of someone else. Not just one someone who does shit for someone or we'll be slaves serving each other... Like Burger King people or waiters at a restaurant.
@theodorichen That is a choice. The men and women who serve those occupations receive benefits, health insurance, retirement benefits including early retirement, and most importantly a pay check. They aren't compelled for they serve as choice. No one mandated that these individuals risk their lives directly or indirectly. HOWEVER mandating the allocation of another's education, labor and income under the vice of "taxes" to provide for another's health is parasitism. The taxed dont' benefit.
@KiKuLuVaNimejApFreiK So it's not a choice to become a doctor? Do hospitals have the right to turn people away as it is now? How much do you think unpaid hospital visits already cost us?
@theodorichen It IS a choice to become a doctor especially in a hospital. Going to med school IS a choice, choosing to work in a hospital over a clinic IS a choice. Doctors have fixed incomes. It is one the occupations that is least affected my the economy. Whether you pay or not, they are still receiving salary. That's the reality of the situation. Go ask a doctor.
@theodorichen She wasn't talking about DOCTORS being "compelled" to help patients, silly. She was talking about the taxpayers being compelled by force of law to buy something they may not want or need. It had nothing to do with doctors. Sheesh.
@miazagora No, she said that "we then have the right to compel others to provide those services.' Her comparison was between slavery and the care providers. The slavery comparison between taxpayers in this would be a stupid comparison, if that is what she meant, which she did not. You should watch the video again and listen to what she says. Do you think that health care should be a right or should it be in the realm of capitalism? Meaning, only those with the money can receive it?
@theodorichen This country has charitable and government programs galore. Drug companies have hardship programs for people who cannot afford their meds. No one is dying in the streets. Medical care is NOT a right. If medical care were stringly in the "realm of capitalism" as you say, it would be a lot more affordable as would medications, but because of Medicaid/indigent, and insurance overuse, it's not affordable for the average person. But people STILL get care.
@theodorichen Oh - and as for the slavery question - whe was actually talking about both. Listen to it again. She was talking about both the people we would have to "compel to give us care" AND the people "to pay for it" - either way, it is slavery and it's not a "stupid comparison" since the taxpayers work for their money, only to have it confiscated by the government in order to give it to themselves for overhead, only to throw a few crumbs toward people on the government dole.
@miazagora If you really think it is the same as slavery than I suggest you NEVER read a history book, because it will be beyond your comprehension. How many enslaved people do think would agree with you?
@miazagora My follow up question would be, if I could assume that you do not view health care as a right, is that, what is an acceptable death toll? How many of your fellow country men that die from a lack of health services would be acceptable to you? To have an acceptable fatality from such a capitalistic view of health care is to defeat the purpose and motto of this country: E Plurabus, Unim - Of many, one. We are in this together. We lose that and it defeats the purpose of having a country.
@theodorichen Please tell me the last time someone went without Medical care because they couldn't pay for it? Are people dying in the streets? No - we have charities and government programs out the wazoo, not to mention Medicaid. E. Plurbis Unum stands for the many states that make up the country and has absolutely ZERO to do with health care. The purpose of a country is not so people can have health care. Get a grip on yourself and stop listening to moonbat idiots like Pete Stark.
The fact that he was be honest about the state of the government does nothing but show his honesty. He's not a dictator, some "one man show," ask this same question to the republicans and they will just blame the Democrats. Explain the 8 years under Bush then. You can't.
The federal govt is the worlds tyrant. The only power the feds should have is national security, thats it.The feds need to get out of the health care busines, the education business and etc..
the politicians and the elite think they are above us all, arrogance beyond belief..time to clean the house and senate completely..and start over ..forget the democrat ,republican crap , their all in the same pot ,taking the money from corporations.think about our people ,we can support countless wars but could care less about the poor and old folks that built this country.cronies and puppets..and all the money poured into pensions, robbed..they owe us we owe them nothing..
Also, yes the federal government has no limits. Ranging from internet trafficking, to determining taxation, to controlling the media, to making it illegal to talk about assassinating a president. They have total control, don't beleive me? Well what about in a situation where they declare state of emergency then instate nation-wide martial law. They did it before, they most certainly can do it again. Government exists to control the populace, thats its sole and only purpose.
@69aznboi The Government exists to institute peace, liberty and justice, PERIOUD. Any further effort to extend the responsibility of government becomes self-conflicting and self-defeating.
Case in point:
In European countries personal liberty is eroding away to accommodate budget savings associated with Health Care. But more importantly personal responsibility is eroding wile and more snagglepusses populate the country.
And more snagglepusses means more Arabs walk all over their culture
Many European countries have universal healthcare and they don't seem to care... Doctors make some of the highest salaries in America anyways, does the money issue eclispe the moral issue?
Suppose 2 sick identical twins go to a hospital. One has money to pay for the medicine, one can't because of debt and taxes. In HER world, 1 twin would die, the other will survive. In MY world (following whatever European healthcare that would work best in America), both will live. Checkmate, I win.
We are on the brink of insolvency as a nation thanks to the benefits and entitlement mentality of the country. What have the dimwits given us? More government, more expensive health care, and run up over $3 TRILLION in new deficits in two years.
The fiat currency, expanding money supply, and cheap money have all but ruined our country.
This is ridiculous. This woman starts off with a faulty illogical premise and inaccurate observations, and then makes believe that she knows what she's talking about. Stark's mistake is even trying to answer this stupid question. The slavery thing is about the stupidest and most warped accusation ever. He should have pointed out her logical faux pas and moved on.
@windmillboy21 How the hell is the woman's PREMISE faulty? Maybe the thing about slavery is wrong, but her main point is absolutely correct- if the Commerce clause of the Constitution can be used to justify government inserting itself deeply into healthcare than what limits are there on what the government can do- anything should be fine under that interpretation of the Commerce clause.
I don't think Stark is dumb at all. I think he knows exactly what he is doing. But Pete Stark is incredibly arrogant and elitist. He acts as if the Constitution is just a dusty old scrap of paper and he is more enlightened that the Founding fathers and the unwashed masses he represents. Stark is one of many congressmen who feel they know what's best for the country and is not going to let a little thing like the Constitution get in the way.
Pete Stark is only parroting what the progressive movement believes: there is no limit to government control of your lives. After all, regular people have no capacity to even know what they want or need - they must be told by their betters. People like Pete Stark believe you are cattle-stupid.
this minuteman thing needs to be put down. FYI theyre not on the border, they just put that shit on for the news because when they did go a whole lot of them got shot to shit by MS13 and the cartels
Your citizenship is found within the Article 1, Section 10, Clause 1 of the Constitution and nothing more: by contract you gave up your citizenship and the states cannot help you (paraphrased). WAKE UP people, your status should be that of a state Citizen... Not a federal UNITED STATES citizen... Thats why they grow tired when you bring up "the Constitution..." PETE STARK IS DEAD ON... YOU ARE THE FOOLS SO WAKE UP PEOPLE...
Pete Stark is probably the dumbest person in Congress. The woman, however, is misguided. It is clever the way she compares healthcare to slavery, but slavery is not simply having "the right to somebody else's services", is it? Living in a SOCIETY presupposes that everybody, in fact, has "the right to" other people's services.
YOU ARE THE FOOLS SO WAKE UP PEOPLE...
zw0ecool, You are one scarry ignorant citizen. You probably vote? To our consternation. Let me guess, you are against tax cuts for the rich, you think health care is a right and college should be free, right...just a guess though God help us.
Pete Stark, I'm sorry to say is an example of the fodder in D.C. that is mandating to us how and what they demand of us,the unwashed masses. Americans should be terrified into action against the thugs in D.C. I fear for the American population.
Look at how fat that woman is....and she is still bitching?????? Looks like our govt is doing a good job of keeping the amount of food available to it's people, and fat stupid bitches like this still have the nerve to cry about everything. He should of told her to go get her fat ass on a treadmill. LOL.
@zw0ecool eh...the government here doesnt "[keep] the amount of food available", the economy at large and the profit motive does. we, or the vast majority of us, dont stand in line for our government-approved food rations. the government's job is to secure our natural rights to allow us to live unimpeded, not to force ridiculous rules on us or provide us with health insurance. that's our own responsibility.
@Somnambul33tor a ridiculous rule like medical insurance?? tell that to the poor and middle class who can't pay ridiculous medical bills. the government inspects food coming in from other countries as trade, and if even one insect is found they send it back? how is that not protecting America? you people say you love America and you don't even support your govt, when you have the most incredible standard of living anywhere in the world and you still complain. American's are just spoiled brats.
@zw0ecool Our constitution is designed specifically to limit what our government can do. Nothing's as efficient as the private sector. no government agency can plan for a family better than it can plan for itself, including health insurance. Our constitution prohibits the government from mandating services on us regardless of what that service or product is.
We have the highest standard of living BECAUSE of our constitution and free market capitalism, not despite it. The US is a nation of laws.
@Somnambul33tor believe it or not the govt protects you..you live well and free becuz the govt keeps enemies at a distance, govt allows the free market to exist....they could easily say fuck the free market and do whatever they want but they don't the govt is not out to get u
@zw0ecool the government protects us, duh? "they could easily say fuck the free market and do whatever they want but they don't the govt is not out to get u" actually they can't because the const is supposed to limit this but they ignore it and over-regulate and micro-manage anyway. and yes, the government IS out to get me...and you. it's role is to protect us and play referee, not to impose onerous regulation to prop up one business while punishing another.
@Somnambul33tor the govt makes rules based on changing times and circumstances.... the founding fathers could not have known what the hell was going to happen in the next 200+ years. It is foolish to keep the constitution exactly how it is and follow it exactly it was meant for their situation at the time not now. You people need to get this little illusion out of your mind that our govt is out to get us,yea that's why we live so wonderful cuz our govt sucks that's why everyone want to come here
@zw0ecool: A wonderful thing about our Constitution is the the method for changing it is outlined in the document itself. Until changed, the Constitution is the highest law in the U.S.
@zw0ecool YOU ARE ONE DUMB FUCKING IDIOT!!! Your government does not provide your food! Unless of course you are a worthless welfare bitch!?! Farmers and private industry provide our food. If there were no government at all we would still have private entities farms, individuals, etc. that grew, raised farmed and provide food for the citizens of this country more importantly FOR A PRICE!!! They provide the food we pay for it!! Your government does not provide food!!! YOU are an idiot!!!!!!!!!
@zw0ecool "Looks like the govt is doing a good job of keeping the amount of food available to it's people"??????? WTF YOU OBVIOUSLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COUNTRY THIS WORLD AND COMMERCE WORKS! Am I talking to a child? You must be a little kid or something. On here running your mouth because of something your idiot teacher told you!?!!!! You need to learn how the world works before you go on you tube and make a fool of yourself! THE GOVT. DOES NOT PROVIDE YOUR FOOD IDIOT!!!! FOOL!!!!
@guns185 Haha. I graduated college with a degree in business, I think I know a little about how business works in the U.S. The govt. inspects food coming in from other countries and makes sure they are safe of pests that could harm farms here in the U.S. If even one pest is found they send back the entire load, how is that not taking care of U.S. citizens? The Govt. paid for my education, and help millions of other ppl get educated each year who can't afford college.
@guns185 You obviously haven't heard of the Food and Drug Administration have you? FDA is the federal agency responsible for ensuring that foods are safe, wholesome and sanitary; human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices are safe and effective; cosmetics are safe; and electronic products that emit radiation are safe. FDA also ensures that these products are honestly, accurately and informatively represented to the public. Oh yea but the Govt. doesn't care. Think!!!
People of other countries wished they had the opportunities we have....an insurance for healthcare...something we can all contribute on for the betterment of our people's health and American's are crying about it Jesus Christ.......
I won't be "relying" on anything of the sort as these programs will be bankrupt before I am old enough to use them. They will also take down the entire economy with them. Just because government promises things in the heat of anelection doesn't mean they are capable of delivering them.
Lol you people obviously dont know hoe govt works. You realize that amendments of the constitution can be repealed and added by congress albeit extremely hard. How do you think prohibition and making slavery illegal was added. And we are already forced to give health care. If your a doctor and you refuse to help someone and they die kiss your license goodbye and have fun in jail.
@fliegeroh If you don't like the United States...then leave. You have the best life here and you are still crying???? My bro went to serve in Iraq and said when he came back that he saw ppl walking their dogs..and that isn't even imaginable over there. You owe your govt that much respect that you can walk outside of your home and for the most part you don't have to worry about getting shot at by terrorists.
Congratulations, Pete, on your very impressive reelection victory - 72% WOW! There are still some intelligent voters around! The baggers didn't take you down, and you will be an island of sanity in the next Congress! We desperately need you !
@flik221 I assume you "rely' or will on Social Security and Medicare, and "rely" on the protections offered by the police, the fire dept, the military, the FDA , the EPA, Homeland Security, etc., etc. The US like all countries have a mix of capitalism and socialism, and the Tbaggers you elected aren't going to change this. We need Pete, though, to keep them honest!
Why didn't that dumb cunt ask the same question when the patriot act was (I'll use a Fox PAC favorite) being rammed down our throats? What Congressman Stark should have said is "Cunt shut the fuck up and suck my BULGARIAN COCK!"
this guy actually sent out mailers saying that he wanted to raise taxes on energy in order to distribute money to third world countries to assist them with climate change problems that our country has caused and he still won 70% of the vote. i live in this mans district and it feels good to be the only person in the neighborhood with half a brain. god help us all, liberalism is a mental disorder.
Who I am??? I'm probably just like most of you...probably. Read the "About Me" blurb on my user page. It says it all. Like I said -- I'm probably just like most of you...
@RobetPaulG i live in californias 13th district and this jerk won 70% of the vote. i don't have much respect for my neighbors needless to say. this guy is despicable and far left rolling stine magazine rated him one of the 10 worst legislaters in the country but he had a d next to his name on the ballot so what he says and does makes no difference to the paste eaters of alameda county.
@David12King it's really just certain areas. if you look at a county by county map liberals really dominate california due to high populations in a few urban areas. i live in the wackiest part of the state so these lunes are my neighbors.
I don't understand what's wrong about what this guy said. Does this woman really believe that the Constitution has some magical ability to restrict the federal government? If she thinks the Constitution has been violated then obviously it has no such power. It's just a piece of paper. And I also don't get why taxation is somehow not slavery so long as it's use is permitted by this document. But as soon as taxes are used for what she perceives as extra-Constitutional purposes, she cries "slavery"
I'll explain it. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and all law is expressed on paper. Yet we don't say that laws against murder, rape or theft shouldn't limit us because "it's just a piece of paper," do we? In the Constitution, the Founding Fathers provided for a balance of power between the feds and the states. They did this because they understood the dangers inherent in allowing any segment of gov to accumulate too much power. And we are foolish if we allow a power imbalance.
@qrqrqrqr1, I'll also put it simply: You have to follow the law, so why shouldn't congressmen? Are they above the law? Do you want that? Remember, if you break the law, the cops won't let you off just because you say, "Hey, man, it's just a piece of paper!"
Don't squander your birthright. Once liberty is lost, it's hard to regain.
@EternalAnachronism What I want is irrelevant. But I guess this all depends how how we interpret his words. If he's making an "ought" statement, then whether or not he's "right" is totally subjective and arbitrary. But if we take at face value the statement that the government can do almost anything regardless of the constitution, then that doesn't seem inaccurate. If I'm being murdered, do I have some "right" to life? Of course not, I'm being murdered. I guess the concept of "rights" confuse me
Life is a right, however that an individual can take away. They will be punished for it. The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If your dying from a disease and they can save you isnt it your right to health care.
@flik221 Oh really how about white people coming to America and taking everything from the Native Americans....??? Is that fair? They just came around and killed everyone and took everything from them, and made up this stupid shit about signing contracts for land and shit...fuck that bullshit I would of shoved those contracts straight up their asses, it was already ours to begin with. Talking about rule of the law... the Constitution shouldn't even exist, white ppl shouldn't even be here.
The American public is so stupid, and always cry about the problems they have. They have no idea what soldiers go through and strings the government pulls so that they can live the way they do and watch their soap operas and read their favorite fashion magazines, and worry about stupid shit like what kind of cereal are they going to buy. Fucking cows is all they are, I'm surprised the Federal Govt hasn't exterminated these stupid protesters who have no idea what the fuck is going on.
but i guess spending 12 billion per month each and every months for last 6 years on the irag war is ok with you take 12 billion per month fpor 12 months adn times it by 12 then take that and times it by 6 or maybe even 7 year or 8 years of bush bill clinto had people working unemployment was way ass down to like less than 8%over most of the states he had a 9billion surplus gained money into econamy what happend to it its was destroyed by the republicans
the national debt isnt from over spending 45 to 50% of it is publics fault 50 million people and growing are going without health care so you rich assholes can save money there is no such thing as preventing no matter how hard you work at preventing stuff like cancer you can actualy still get it my freind you cant go over to your neighbors house and ask for 120 grand to pay for your surgery but its much much much easier to raise taxes on people who make enuff money that it bearly affects them
this guy is not giving his opinion, just trying to be honest. these people are mistakenly directing their upset towarding someone whos powerless. money: spending habits are the only way normal citizens have say anymore- that and who they vote for- people need to understand that. also- slavery is very different than having someone (who is paid) providing healthcare you retard. the goal is to save $ by treating preventable issues before they are emergencies that cost the state a shitload.
You need to give up on the belief that you have any legal claim or standing under the constitution. All you can as a citizen is invoke you beneficial interest in the constitutional trust indenture, but you will need to know how to operate outside of public policy, for this to succeed. Lets be honest; The US is insolvent and it's controlled by its creditors and if you proclaims your status to be under the constitution all redeemable equity will be extracted from you to pay the debt of the public.
white people have been asleep in this country for a very very long time.
i guess they didnt want to deal with reality. didnt want to 'stand' for anything. didnt want to 'offend' someone. wanted to pretend it was ALL ok. Just be 'nice' and it'll be ok.
How did that strategy work out for you all? Are you enjoying the results of 'being nice'
he's been in congress for 37 years??? What we really need is limits on how many terms you can serve in congress so that people like this aren't allowed to rule our country for that long and become corrupted by power.
Wow, this woman is an idiot... she's a fat women, she needs healthcare more than most... wait 10 years... she'll be crying for healthcare with a bad heart, so it's clear she is uneducated... She wants to "freeload" on the backs of others... what scum.
-
No wonder everyone in our country is against her cheating lifestyle...
@Tnoy34rt you are judging a person based on here weight? Makes no fucking sense at all Tnoy34rt. There are women I work with now and women that I've worked with in the past who were over weight, however these women were quite intelligent. Some even capable of running their own local business successfully. Go fuck yourself Tnoy34rt as all you do is put down others. You need to have your ass kicked.
@TheWacked666 Hah man I was on your side and I was just being funny, but you got upset? You gonna cry? Have to resort to calling me names for no reason? I used to skate for an amateur team in Dallas called D-Static about 9 years ago when I created this account. Your point is? However I graduate from Harvard law this spring with honors. Mind my business he says.....as he cries more in a PUBLIC forum.
No matter what I say your going to come up with some lame comment because you can't stand not having the last word. You are truely a pathetic waste of skin. Fuck you and fuck everyone like you, talk what ever shit you want I'm done with you this is the last post. I'm 6'9 370lbs and I bounce for a living, I am joining the army and I would/could totally serve you your teeth for breakfast so seriously dude shut the fuck up. I'm done, have your last word, it's all you got fat slob.
@kimlene05 lol nice try old man, good one. No the fact is you are ignorant to logic. You don't seem to grasp the most simple of concepts and even when fronted with mounds of evidence and you have to real argument you result to petty name calling. You are just the kind of douche i know too well, you talk all big like your shit doesn't stink, but i know you voted for obama, i know your fat and lazy, your a grease bag with no friends and a total loser.
@kimlene05 i said the war ended 1946, did you not read my post? fuck head? i said the war began for the US on december 8 1941 when they bombed pearl harbour, you are fucked seriously learn how to read idiot.
President Truman officially declared an end to hostilities by Presidential Proclamation on December 31, 1946
Comprendez? perhaps you speak Spanish since you clearly don't understand plain English..
after pearl harbour the us was fighting the Japanese! they did not go straight to Germany...
@kimlene05 This guy is still trying to prove people wrong when they're right? Don't you have a job or something else that is entertaining or keeps you preoccuppied? This seems to be your only hobby, and you still suck at it lol.
Anyway like i said, socialized health care is better, I've already proved it. So done deal queer. I'm going to go work the heavy bag here, I have real life things to attend to, unlike you, 47 year old cry baby.
@kimlene05 Look fruit cup i've wasted enough time on you. Socialized health care is better and you can do your faggot mental gymnastics to come up with whatever you want, but in the end i'm right, I know i'm right, I have the facts to prove it (which i displayed). You really are a nothing nobody and you aren't going to do fuck all so sit down and shut up. Stop being a whiner, i know you voted for obama and now you are crying about it.Suck it up princess!

Normanrs2004 6 months ago 2
@Normanrs2004 Her argument does not fail, though the slavery aspect of it does. Her question about what limits there are if Obamacare is constitutional is spot on. Once we allow something like this in the name of "general welfare", what end could there be?

Yea, an attorney confronting a politician about constitutional law. Gee, I wonder who is more qualified here... A burnt-out politician or an attorney mother who is concerned about her children's future?
cvminutemen 6 months ago
@cvminutemen I don't know about "qualifications", but our hearts don't seem to be in the right place when we argue against the welfare of our fellow countrymen. Sure, the health care reform is a giveaway to insurance companies, but shouldn't the argument focus how we can better care for those who can't afford it? I think that it's downright embarrassing that a nation this prosperous lags the world in providing it's citizens low cost solutions to the most basic human needs. But what do I know?
haysfordays 6 months ago
@haysfordays
We need safety nets, but the "safety nets' commonly become a way of life and are paid for by the 50% of us who actually pay taxes. We have no choice but to pay (our money is taken under threat) and many of us 50% are sick of paying for other people's problems and short falls in America. Life is tough.
cvminutemen 6 months ago
@cvminutemen "safety nets' commonly become a way of life" Where is the proof of this? I hear it again and again. Sounds like an excuse. There's an overall lack of respect in this country that's bred out of racism, lack of trust, intolerance and misunderstanding. There are low-lifes in every society based on the kind of inequality we have in America. There is no proven way to make poor people self-sustaining. So you have 2 choices: let them suffer and bring the rest of us down, or be pro-active.
haysfordays 6 months ago
@haysfordays

I don't mean the occasional article, but the cold hard numbers. A record # of people on food stamps? You better believe it! Why don't you go ahead and cut minimum wage then?
haysfordays 6 months ago

Tea Partier? More interested in picking on the poor than any one white collar crime that could equal the amount of this dreaded "food stamp abuse"? It's super easy to pick on the poor.
haysfordays 6 months ago
@cvminutemen And what may I ask is your vision for society? All for themselves? How exactly does that work? You do not have any tolerance for those who are not like you. Why is she not pissed about fireman and policemen being "compelled" by law to help others? Does that violate the constitution as well?
theodorichen 9 months ago

How much do you think unpaid hospital visits already cost us?
theodorichen 9 months ago
@theodorichen It IS a choice to become a doctor especially in a hospital. Going to med school IS a choice, choosing to work in a hospital over a clinic IS a choice. Doctors have fixed incomes. It is one the occupations that is least affected my the economy. Whether you pay or not, they are still receiving salary. That's the reality of the situation. Go ask a doctor.
KiKuLuVaNimejApFreiK 9 months ago
@KiKuLuVaNimejApFreiK Then, what do you think is the difference between a doctor and a fireman/policeman, etc?
theodorichen 9 months ago
@theodorichen She wasn't talking about DOCTORS being "compelled" to help patients, silly. She was talking about the taxpayers being compelled by force of law to buy something they may not want or need. It had nothing to do with doctors. Sheesh.
miazagora 8 months ago
@miazagora No, she said that "we then have the right to compel others to provide those services.' Her comparison was between slavery and the care providers. The slavery comparison between taxpayers in this would be a stupid comparison, if that is what she meant, which she did not. You should watch the video again and listen to what she says. Do you think that health care should be a right or should it be in the realm of capitalism? Meaning, only those with the money can receive it?
theodorichen 8 months ago
@theodorichen This country has charitable and government programs galore. Drug companies have hardship programs for people who cannot afford their meds. No one is dying in the streets. Medical care is NOT a right. If medical care were stringly in the "realm of capitalism" as you say, it would be a lot more affordable as would medications, but because of Medicaid/indigent, and insurance overuse, it's not affordable for the average person. But people STILL get care.
miazagora 8 months ago
@theodorichen Oh - and as for the slavery question - whe was actually talking about both. Listen to it again. She was talking about both the people we would have to "compel to give us care" AND the people "to pay for it" - either way, it is slavery and it's not a "stupid comparison" since the taxpayers work for their money, only to have it confiscated by the government in order to give it to themselves for overhead, only to throw a few crumbs toward people on the government dole.
miazagora 8 months ago
@miazagora If you really think it is the same as slavery than I suggest you NEVER read a history book, because it will be beyond your comprehension. How many enslaved people do think would agree with you?

You're an Idiot...
phorse 7 months ago
@phorse Thanks for the 2 cents, kid.
theodorichen 7 months ago
@miazagora My follow up question would be, if I could assume that you do not view health care as a right, is that, what is an acceptable death toll? How many of your fellow country men that die from a lack of health services would be acceptable to you? To have an acceptable fatality from such a capitalistic view of health care is to defeat the purpose and motto of this country: E Plurabus, Unim - Of many, one. We are in this together. We lose that and it defeats the purpose of having a country.
theodorichen 8 months ago
@theodorichen Please tell me the last time someone went without Medical care because they couldn't pay for it? Are people dying in the streets? No - we have charities and government programs out the wazoo, not to mention Medicaid. E. Plurbis Unum stands for the many states that make up the country and has absolutely ZERO to do with health care. The purpose of a country is not so people can have health care. Get a grip on yourself and stop listening to moonbat idiots like Pete Stark.

TeboFire 1 year ago
Many European countries have universal healthcare and they don't seem to care... Doctors make some of the highest salaries in America anyways, does the money issue eclispe the moral issue?
Suppose 2 sick identical twins go to a hospital. One has money to pay for the medicine, one can't because of debt and taxes. In HER world, 1 twin would die, the other will survive. In MY world (following whatever European healthcare that would work best in America), both will live. Checkmate, I win.

windmillboy21 1 year ago
@windmillboy21 How the hell is the woman's PREMISE faulty? Maybe the thing about slavery is wrong, but her main point is absolutely correct- if the Commerce clause of the Constitution can be used to justify government inserting itself deeply into healthcare than what limits are there on what the government can do- anything should be fine under that interpretation of the Commerce clause.
bigravensfan21 1 year ago
I don't think Stark is dumb at all. I think he knows exactly what he is doing. But Pete Stark is incredibly arrogant and elitist.
Somnambul33tor 1 year ago
@Somnambul33tor a ridiculous rule like medical insurance?? tell that to the poor and middle class who can't pay ridiculous medical bills. the government inspects food coming in from other countries as trade, and if even one insect is found they send it back? how is that not protecting America? you people say you love America and you don't even support your govt, when you have the most incredible standard of living anywhere in the world and you still complain. zw0ecool 1 year ago

Somnambul33tor 1 year ago
@Somnambul33tor the govt makes rules based on changing times and circumstances.... the founding fathers could not have known what the hell was going to happen in the next 200+ years. this guy actually sent out mailers saying that he wanted to raise taxes on energy in order to distribute money to third world countries to assist them with climate change problems that our country has caused and he still won 70% of the vote. i live in this mans district and it feels good to be the only person in the neighborhood with half a brain. god help us all, liberalism is a mental disorder.

But as soon as taxes are used for what she perceives as extra-Constitutional purposes, she cries "slavery"
qrqrqrqr1 1 year ago
I'll explain it. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and all law is expressed on paper. Yet we don't say that laws against murder, rape or theft shouldn't limit us because "it's just a piece of paper," do we? In the Constitution, the Founding Fathers provided for a balance of power between the feds and the states. They did this because they understood the dangers inherent in allowing any segment of gov to accumulate too much power. And we are foolish if we allow a power imbalance.
EternalAnachronism 1 year ago
@qrqrqrqr1, I'll also put it simply: You have to follow the law, so why shouldn't congressmen? Are they above the law? Do you want that? Remember, if you break the law, the cops won't let you off just because you say, "Hey, man, it's just a piece of paper!"
Don't squander your birthright. Once liberty is lost, it's hard to regain.
EternalAnachronism 1 year ago
@EternalAnachronism What I want is irrelevant. But I guess this all depends how how we interpret his words. If he's making an "ought" statement, then whether or not he's "right" is totally subjective and arbitrary. But if we take at face value the statement that the government can do almost anything regardless of the constitution, then that doesn't seem inaccurate. If I'm being murdered, do I have some "right" to life? Of course not, I'm being murdered. I guess the concept of "rights" confuse me
qrqrqrqr1 1 year ago
@qrqrqrqr1

Talking about rule of the law... the Constitution shouldn't even exist, white ppl shouldn't even be here.
zw0ecool 1 year ago
The American public is so stupid, and always cry about the problems they have. They have no idea what soldiers go through and strings the government pulls so that they can live the way they do and watch their soap operas and read their favorite fashion magazines, and worry about stupid shit like what kind of cereal are they going to buy. Fucking cows is all they are, I'm surprised the Federal Govt hasn't exterminated these stupid protesters who have no idea what the fuck is going on.

shakidaki 1 year ago
the national debt isnt from over spending 45 to 50% of it is publics fault 50 million people and growing are going without health care so you rich assholes can save money there is no such thing as preventing no matter how hard you work at preventing stuff like cancer you can actualy still get it my freind you cant go over to your neighbors house and ask for 120 grand to pay for your surgery but its much much much easier to raise taxes on people who make enuff money that it bearly affects them
shakidaki 1 year ago
this guy is not giving his opinion, just trying to be honest. these people are mistakenly directing their upset towarding someone whos powerless. money: spending habits are the only way normal citizens have say anymore- that and who they vote for- people need to understand that. also- slavery is very different than having someone (who is paid) providing healthcare you retard. the goal is to save $ by treating preventable issues before they are emergencies that cost the state a shitload.

@snezzyG, uh, buddy, he's not powerless. He's in a position of POWER. He's a congressman.

After looking more into this guy I am actually starting to like him. You can bend the rules quite a lot. He basically tells it how it is.
AzureDrag0n1 1 year ago

Are you enjoying the results of 'being nice'
heh
