Out of all the changes Lucas did to the original trilogy, adding Hayden to the last scene is the 2nd dumbest thing.. but the #1 is changing the original Ewok celebration music.. you DONT alter music, you just dont do that. Never liked this addition because when Ben Kenobi dies and comes back like this at the end of Return of the Jedi, he didn't get younger he came back the way he was when he was alive, well to be honest I do not like any of these new Star Wars actors, so really not happy about Hayden being special effexed into the original trilogy, not a good idea...the prequels are like carry on star wars to me, but I ordered the whole blu ray set and hopefully they will grow on me, I doubt it though.

I think that there should be two versions of the original trilogy. One which stays true to the original releases and one which comes packaged with the prequals and feature changes like this so that if one watches them in universe chronological order, it makes sense.

Well...I can assure you that Darth Vader wasn't the force ghost for the 16 years between ROTJ and the prequel trilogy. I'm pretty sure that was a redeemed jedi that appeared next to Yoda and Obi-wan. It wouldn't make sense to give Darth Vader a force ghost. Lucas has changed his story....because Anakin was infact a jedi at his death...despite what he says now.

The exception is Anakin never looked like Sebastian Shaw EVER. So he did it to make the scene make sense. Also, look at how Anakin looks down on himself, like he's assured that he has broken his hold over the dark side and is now at peace.

The political crap was boring and the characters were paper thin. I hate the prequels for many reasons, so seeing Hayden pop up at the end is a reminder that Lucas has the power to destroy your favorite childhood film. Not that Hayden isn't a good actor, but I was really shocked and disappointed that they put him in the ending of this movie. Why change such a classic? Why didn't they put Ewan McGregor in as well?
I like this ending better than the other one. Shaw did not do a good job with acting out Vader, while Christensen was amazing. That might just be the reason why Episode VI is my least favourite by a long shot and III is my definite favourite. It was the endings. If a better actor had done Vader, I actually would have liked VI a lot more. I'm glad the image was replaced in the canonical reproduction. (cont.)

Anakin, being the first one to turn from dark to light *hates luke for reversing the current*, didn't completely turn evil but he basically turned anyway, so instead of having a Sith spirit, he took after Master Qui-Gon (a brilliant man who discovered the light-sider way of preserving one's conscious self after death) and stayed a Jedi. Since he only had a few seconds back where he was before, Anakin's form appeared from right before he turned good.

Heres what they should do for the Blu-Ray release. Keep the new music in there, but restore Shaw's head with Anakin's Prequel Robes.
For me the new edition is better. I like much more Hayden Christensen as Anakin and this awful song Yub Nub is finally being replaced with The Victory of the Force. Besides the New Ending bids the Prequel and Original Trilogy together.
I think they should have kept it the other way. It looks better to have an old Obi Wan and Anakin rather than an old Obi Wan and young Anakin. His spirit should be like the way he died (except the hideousness).

I had seen the end for more then 20 times at an old video cassette. And on this cassette there was the old Anakin skywalker. I didnt know that Greorge Lucas changed the ending.

Excuse me? Hayden Christiansen played Anakin WELL??? Are you out of your mind? Hayden couldn't act his way out of a paper bag and his portrayal of Anakin was one of the worst acting performances I have ever seen. He was lucky to have a REAL actor like Ewan McGregor there to bail him out.

I think they changed hayden but not obi because hayden represented the ghost of annakin, not vader (hence him looking younger) but obi wan was always good therefore they used the image of him as he looked when he died. In some ways I don't like them changing the ghost but in other ways I do because I grew attached to ani in the first three movies and it was kinda nice to see he had redeemed himself, whereas the other ghost wasn't someone I recognise as being anakin.

If they replaced Anakin with Hayden why didnt they do the same with Obi wan and Ewan, they could make him look old? I guess my point is I like the original.

@crabbypants1978 The reason he changed it was very logical. He did it to make sense and make the ending better. All the ghosts are as they were before they died. The exception is Anakin never looked like Sebastian Shaw EVER. So he did it to make the scene make sense. Also, look at how Anakin looks down on himself, like he's assured that he has broken his hold over the dark side and is now at peace.

@GangsterFish78 The prequels were utter crap. Great special effects with some really shitty acting (Im not blaming the actors though). The political crap was boring and the characters were paper thin. I hate the prequels for many reasons, so seeing Hayden pop up at the end is a reminder that Lucas has the power to destroy your favorite childhood film. Its doesn't make sense to change him to Hayden anyways!! Hes supposed to be in his late 50's. He turns good at the end.

Not that Hayden isn't a good actor, but I was really shocked and disappointed that they put him in the ending of this movie. Why change such a classic? Why didn't they put Ewan McGregor in as well?

I like this ending better than the other one. Shaw did not do a good job with acting out Vader, while Christensen was amazing. That might just be the reason why Episode VI is my least favourite by a long shot and III is my definite favourite. It was the endings. If a better actor had done Vader, I actually would have liked VI a lot more. I'm glad the image was replaced in the canonical reproduction. (cont.)

@cdl128 Ah, yes, the whole turning issue. Anakin, being the first one to turn from dark to light *hates luke for reversing the current*, didn't completely turn evil but he basically turned anyway, so instead of having a Sith spirit, he took after Master Qui-Gon (a brilliant man who discovered the light-sider way of preserving one's conscious self after death) and stayed a Jedi. Since he only had a few seconds back where he was before, Anakin's form appeared from right before he turned good.

I understand Lucas' decision to replace Shaw with Christensen, but anakin turned back to the good side right before he died. I'm no Original Trilogy Purist, but I was quite unhappy with the wife-choking, child butchering, whiney guy Hayden replacing Shaw.
Heres what they should do for the Blu-Ray release. Keep the new music in there, but restore Shaw's head with Anakin's Prequel Robes.

For me the new edition is better. I like much more Hayden Christensen as Anakin and this awful song Yub Nub is finally being replaced with The Victory of the Force. Besides the New Ending bids the Prequel and Original Trilogy together.

I think they should have kept it the other way. It looks better to have an old Obi Wan and Anakin rather than an old Obi Wan and young Anakin. His spirit should be like the way he died (except the hideousness).

I saw yesterday at TV the ending. And i look at the screen and i thought: WTF?!
I had seen the end for more then 20 times at an old video cassette. And on this cassette there was the old Anakin skywalker. I didnt know that Greorge Lucas changed the ending.
I like the new and the old ending. hayden christensen played anakin skywalker very good and im happy to see him again at the end. ;)

Excuse me? Hayden Christiansen played Anakin WELL??? Are you out of your mind? Hayden couldn't act his way out of a paper bag and his portrayal of Anakin was one of the worst acting performances I have ever seen. He was lucky to have a REAL actor like Ewan McGregor there to bail him out.

I think they changed hayden but not obi because hayden represented the ghost of annakin, not vader (hence him looking younger) but obi wan was always good therefore they used the image of him as he looked when he died. In some ways I don't like them changing the ghost but in other ways I do because I grew attached to ani in the first three movies and it was kinda nice to see he had redeemed himself, whereas the other ghost wasn't someone I recognise as being anakin.

it kinda negated the title-return of the jedi since it showed that anakin never died a jedi for his entity was that of his younger self before he became a sith lord. oh well it's George Lucas's decision...he created the whole thing. XD
