Perrys Resident Evil books, it may be a bit different with a new character but the series has books about 0,1,2,3, and Code Veronica. then theirs like 4 original books that mainly have Rebecca as one of the main characters. They are still in print i believe so depending on were you live, whatever your major bookstore is (for me its barnes and nobels) you can find them in the science fiction part under the R's usually. i don't need a source, i work for sony pictures cg department, the order came in 3 weeks ago, capcom asked us as the success of degeneration was bigger than the live action movie.

i have just finished off the story, i am the writer along with shotaro suga and he had the japanese version of the script, i translated it and believe me it's good.

i wont say anything big but i know what people are like for waiting, so i may as well tell you one thing.,

In RE5 file "History of Resident Evil", it says that both Jill, Rebecca, Barry and Chris survived.

Their deaths in RE1 is not canon, probally just a choice Capcom made for the players.

the live action series will be "A New Trilogy" so in words, yes they will be re-doing it all.

but not in the way that it will undermine everything that has happened in the last 3.

the new trilogy will be introducing chris redfield, claire redfield, jill valentine, albert wesker, leon kennedy, steve burnside, barry burton, sheva alomar, josh, alexia ashford.
