For Years and Years car makers got away with making "Death traps" Cars made from the late 1990,s onwards have MUCH better side impact protect. SHAME on you car makers for getting away with charging £10,000's of pounds for dangerous death traps right up until the late 1990,s.
That Saab at the beginning is one tough nut to crack! Damn! Now that is impressive.
Don't skimp on safety. And I think parents should be a hell of a lot more weary about giving their kids their old shitboxes rather than something newer and safer.
@215alessio Volvo 240 had sideimpact beams in doors from its debut in 1974. So in the seventies, and early 80s it would have been the only car you would like to be in side impact. 740 ofcourse, introduced in 1982 was allmost twice as safe in side impact. I think, that its only suicide happy people that drove vauxhalls and other crap... :DDD
@IGP84 Shure volvo did alot alot to improve safety, not only for it's own brand but for all constructors.
Knowing germans still drove VW Kafers in 74 . Vauxhall was rubbish, and other English and French brands had the Bolt on body on a stiff chassis. see citroen DS, renault R4
Back then all Volvo's had a good safety margin
Fiats only safety car was the 131 at that time and in 1979 with the Ritmo , before those 2 models little to nothing was done for safety except by volvo
This is probably the most poorly worded narration I have ever heard. Commonest? And accidents that police have attended? Pulled out of a blind turning?
@BigPerm5000 Commonest is perfectly acceptable but, hardly used. One can say: It is common. It is commoner than the other two, It is the commonest of the bunch. Remember, common is the opposite of rare. One can say: It is rare. It is rarer than the other two. It is the rarest of them all.
When you look at it like that, it makes perfect sense. In any case, the word "commonest" is grammatically correct.
@MowgliX nothing man, just you have to know that firms like FIAT or OPEL sells low cost cars, really like 3000€, looks good and confortable, but they have nothing in (no protection, no abs, no esp, nether as optional!)
This guy at 0:33 driving a car without steering wheel and does not even looking at the road!

2:29 the absolute irony that is a number plate that appears to spell out DEAD on a car a person was killed in. (DEAO possibly?)

Things have got better because of better materials, design and more economical engines allowing heavier chassis.

its bad driving or faulty vehicles that cause accidents not side protection bars.

So saddened by his loss! People shouldn't buy OLD cars like this without side-impact protection!

DON'T buy some old piece of shit of a car! MAKE SURE your car had SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION and the rest of the safety kit! I speak from experience.

@antonio20001 They do that as low-cost options in some countries, I know. It's terrible, and they should be held accountable.
