As far as the GM/LS comments vs the Mustang modular comments, the new 5.0 in the 6spd GTs will be a good match for the new Camaro. Being that the Camaro will have SLIGHTLY more HP, but HEAVIER, the new 5.0 will have the edge over the Camaro. The first time in a LONG TIME that a stock GT has been faster than a stock Camaro.
I think it will be close, probably down to whoever is the better driver... The camaro has +14 HP -(426) and +30 LBFT -(420) The camaro weighs 3,850 Lbs and the new 5.0 stang should be right around 3,600 Lbs in coupe form. I'm excited to see this race! I'm happy ford is bringing back the 302 for some real competition :)
@K3vinK Could have something to do with the fact that GM couldn't make a good 5 liter engine and gave up by putting in the 5.7. Ford went the opposite direction and dropped back to a 4.6. So yea, whoopie, the Chevy 350 managed to beat up on the Ford 281.

You've been beating the driver then. A stock S197GT runs mid 13s to high 13s. A Stock NewEdge Runs high 13s to low 14s stock. Have people run them faster? Yes. I've seen a stock new edge run 13.6 before. I've also seen a stock S197 run 13.3s before. Something no NewEdge has done. Having said that, put a pair of Trick Flow 2v twisted wedge heads and that S197 has no chance. The biggest problem with the 2vs were their heads. This is coming from a 2002GT owner.
or maybe the s197 had unlisted mods?? I drive an 03 gt, my friend has an 06.. his didnt walk mine like that, he barely pulled me. i got a 13.9 in the 1/4 he got 13.7. dont be a smartass!

My gf has an 03 gt thats auto, it has slp exh and k&n cold air intake.. I dont like the tranny at all! The new 5spd auto is a alot better! Ur quite a smartass!

i have an O/R x-pipe and bullet (straight through) mufflers. i went all out on the 2nd race, the one from the dig and the one when i gave him a car. all other times i was shiftin at like 5000 rpms. his was an auto, and mine's a 5 speed.
in mustang magazine all they did to the 3valve was forge the internals,added exhaust,and a turbo set-up at 20 psi,put down 700 to the wheels.cant imagine with engine work

I OWN an S197 shelby GT and I have to say, GM has a better motor design with the LS series.....It's not picking or choosing sides, it's a fact. I had a 2000 Firehawk, and that thing would have killed my shelbt GT, which is 8 years newer. Plus, GM is getting around 28-30 MPG highway on the LS engines!!! I do love my shelby though, and it is WAY more pleasurable and fun to drive than the hawk was!
If you want to go with a pushrod motor thats fine but compare the new cobra to the new SS... The newer motor designs are running more efficiently thus making them less apt to make big gains using mods.. Hints the new hennessey hpe550 using a supercharger, full exhaust, cai, 20" dr's and an aggressive only making 530 hp compared to the new gt500 i think that is sad!
@BLK03MODULAR go look at my vids i had an 04 gt and i raced a s197 with just catback and it pulled me pretty good, i was auto it was manual, i now have a s197 08 for myself

The discription says he has minor exhaust which could be mufflers. Why are you calling out this guy for beating an SN95? You dont need to come to the rescuew of every SN95 that gets beat by an S197. By the way...if thats your SN95 under your profile..unless you have nitrous I dont see you beating him either. Ive owned a few SN95s...now a 2007 GT running 12s with minor bolt ons...My SN95 with minor bolt ons was a 13 sec car...you will always be a step behind mod for mod...sorry
